  1. ready seal

i did put two coats, i had to it didnt look like i put anything on hardly the first time.
  2. ready seal

i did do both, thats what is confussing me. i know RS soaks into the wood better than TWP, so i figured one coat would be fine. i hardly ever have to put two coats with TWP.
  3. ready seal

i was wondering if ready seal is better on pretty new wood rather than a 10 yr old deck? i have been using twp for the past 6 yrs and used ready seal today for the first time. it just didnt look right at all to me when i was done. i used medium brown and it looked faded as it was drying. I was excited the local pressure washing store started stocking ready seal and now that i try it im not so sure.
  4. IPE Stain

thank you james. the deck is covered but when it rains heavy the edges do get wet and the previous stain the guy had on there did fade quit a bit. Any help would be great. i have explained to the man that the stain no matter what we go with will not last very long at all so he isnt expecting that. i just want it to look good for the longest time possible for him. thanks Mike
  5. IPE Stain

i told the guy the stain will not last much more than a yr or so and he understands he just wants stain on it. it is a front porch which is covered but will get wet in heavy rains. which stain would you recomend celeste or roger? and how easy is it to get around raleigh?
  6. IPE Stain

i am about to stain a IPE deck that is covered for the most part. i was wondering if cabots austrailian timber oil is a decent stain for this deck or maybe ready seal like use on my pt decks? thanks
  7. help with a IPE deck

can anyone please tell me the proper steps to stripping and restaining a IPE deck? and what type of stain would work the best for this wood? thanks Mike
  8. stucco problem

im working on a dealership that has stucco along the top, it has heavy black streaks on it that im having problems getting off. ive been shooting 12% with barlox through the xjet and it wont touch it. any suggestions? maybe straight sh like i would be cleaning a roof? thanks
  9. Help stripping old sealer off stamped concrete

and that will not hurt the color pigment in the stamped concrete at all?
  10. i have a sidewalk that is stamped concrete that has bubbles in the previous sealer. Im looking a way or chemical that will get the old stuff up so i can start from scratch. can anyone help please
  11. Cant get all stain off what are options?

Go to lowes and get a belt sander, they have pretty good ones for like 65 bucks and it will pay itself off beleive me. get a like some heavy coarse sand paper and go over the bad spots then get some finishing sand paper for the sander and go over it for a final time, it shouldnt take you but a couple hours if you go that route. you should be fine putting the solid over what is already there just go with as dark as color as the customer can stand. thats all i can tell ya, just price out the sanding based on how long it takes you, but like i said it shouldnt take long. mike
  12. One Year Old TWP Stain

TWP is all i have used for 5 years now. I personally hate putting anything else on. i have noticed though on newer decks it just doesnt perform like i would perfer, just like you guys are saying. What would you guys perfer to put on the newer decks??
  13. Cant get all stain off what are options?

Id say try the hd-80 process once more, if its availabe try hotwater also, and if they want a oil base semi transparent, paint the rails white and sand like crazy on the floor then try and go with a darker color TWP or ready seal. The only other thing you can do is stop stripping now and just go with a solid all the way around, which sucks but ive had the problem a few times and the customer is useally very pleased with the white rail route. mike
  14. best solid stains?

Yea i tried sodium hydroxide already it barely touched it. the guy cant remember what was on it but knows they dont make it no more b/c he used to work at sherwin williams and remember they stopped making the product so i guess im gonna have to put a cabots solid on it. i was originally goin with twp. this is the first solid stain i havent been able to get off for some reason.
  15. best solid stains?

does anyone have opinions on solid color stains. i dont like using solids but i have a deck where i cant get the solid stain that is on there now off. i need to go back with a solid so i need some advice on brand and colors thanks mike
