  1. Where does everyone order for low price/bulk orders of staining supplies. Do you just do box store or are there any good websites out there for these things: --Cheap stain brushes (mainly use 2" for backbrushing spindles, truck brush for floor) --Canvas drop clothes (4x15, 9x12) - use these for draping over rails when spraying --Rags --Painters tape/plastic for masking house (.5mil usually)
  2. Cheap sundries

Been trying to avoid the stores as much as possible as well. If I can order online and get larger quantity figure it might save some money. I like the cardboard idea, that would be good for floor cover. The tarps are used for spraying but its getting costly since they get so soaked with stain its difficult to reuse. Heres where I may be thinking off base, but I just dont see the value in good brushes. Everything (just about) is sprayed so I simply need something to backbrush. I'm usually backbrushing fairly quickly and not particrually gently so the brushes get frayed and messy. I almost prefer to get a low priced case of two dozen brushes and just toss them at the end of a week and not deal with cleaning them.
  3. Rain and A.C.

You should be fine regarding the rain, we have had rain come down an hour after the stain was sprayed with no problems. You may notice some difference where you stopped staining and start up again, but also doubtful.
  4. What ever happen to Jarod??

Is he mainly using TWP now Scott? I learned a lot from him back in the WTW days
  5. What cleaner is everyone using for AC recoats? For those using percarb for AC maintence...I'm worried about it stripping it, what are yall experiencing? And for those using SH what kind of ratio are you using? Not my normal cup of tea but I'm tempted to try an SH mix to clean these maintence jobs. Also, did a quick drive this afternoon to a two year old AC deck...full sun so its noticeably faded but next to no mildew (only on posts where the bushes are near). Hopeing for an easy maintence sell.
  6. Haha was about to **** myself...pulled the calculator out and got $1540 as my low end price. I imagine prices have gone up since this was started.
  7. Its my understand that prop glycol acts as an added punch for sodium hydroxide. What is the recomended mix rate for a 5 gallon pail of stripper? Timberstrip pro is the product if it matters. Are we talking like an ounce of glycol for a gallon of stripper or higher? What kind of reaction is to be expected? Will it foam, gas off, bubble, explode, get thick, change color, etc For those wondering its the prestone low tox.
  8. Very impressive! Some nice wood underneath that mess!
  9. Won't happen in NC, too many budget restrictions no one has any money anymore
  10. Did it on some fences but they were pressure treated...so not sure I have any helpful results on that. It was a cost thing more than anything. I think I only used a half gal per 5'er.
  11. Deck looks good but the color looks too dry to me to be honest. Too much natural I would guess is giving me that opinion. Then again for such old wood its hard to say what the case is
  12. Thats why signatures are helpful for everyone

  17. After 2 hours I don't know if I believe you'll have to wash it again. Thats good drying time. We did a deck where as soon as we pulled away it started pouring and it came out fine. There were 3 or 4 of those white slimy spots you mentioned that we ragged up and it looked great
  18. Honest question: do you let the customer know you are giving a big break or do you just quote low for certain "seasoned" citizens?
  19. AC any day over that science hybrid thing. If you are limited to two options I assume you have specific products in mind. Just post what those are, so we know what you are looking at
  20. Anybody in Texas

Customer of mine just opened a Ritas in middle NC. Pretty good business from what I heard from the owners. They force you to stay open during the winter for the first year and they still managed to pull a profit. I probably went there 5 nights a week during the summer
  21. Who is Going to Myrtle beach

Ron do you have the breakdown for what session will be covered each day? Id like to commute in from NC for one of the days potentially
  22. pricing wood

15 a linear for rails equates to roughly 2 bucks per square. If you charge 3/sqft on stripping that would make your rails close to 21/linear foot. (3 feet high x 2 sides + 1 foot for fashia = 7 sqft of wood for each one foot of rail. 7sqft x $3=21 )
  23. pricing wood

Doesn't mean you can't get those prices year round. Probably won't provide enough decks to sustain a dozen full time laborers, but pays a solo guy quite well. We'll have to see if prices have to change when I go full time and switch to primarily sales/office work
