  1. Haha heck you have the whole truck! Insurance was going alright but now I'm getting fed up. Still no money, and you deal with close to a dozen people on a single claim. (claims agent, adjuster, towing coordinator, investigating engineer, total loss officer, special investigator, valuation officer, blah blah blah) Today the special investigator asked me to give the names and addresses of every place I traveled to the day before the fire. Maybe he will go and interrogate the people at the China King restaurant I ate at for lunch that day. Then he recorded my statement on everything that happened 24 hours up to the fire. I just hope he isnt planning on questioning my customers too. In the meanwhile...I'm rocking this baby! Wakes up all the trophy wives in those golf neighborhoods
  2. Well since everyone is volunteering, you are welcome to build me a new site in Joomla Don't everyone build it all at once now
  3. For all you people that mix im curious what you do with all the leftover? How are you measuring 3parts to 1 part? Do you pour into gallon containers and mix in a new bucket? 9 mixes seems like a heck of a lot of stain to keep around
  4. Makita 9227c with 8" sander backer pad can fit in between the spindles.
  5. I hate decks!

Haha I hate the big ones. Ill take 800/1200 dollar jobs all day long
  6. Hey Rick they called to tell me they (insurance company) hired an engineering firm to try and determine the cause. If its manufacture related I reckon they try to get money from Chevy...although not sure how well that's gonna work. Got to get permission from CEO obama first
  7. Rick any idea what the initial application on that wood was? If it was a two coat originally, the semi trans probably is almost the third coat in less than two years. I imagine that would contribute to the more opaque look
  8. Dan, depending on how I was feeling I'd probably hit the railings with some soap to rinse the dust off free of charge. Nothing more than 5 minutes though. But yes, 3/ft for horizontals.
  9. 12x24? I'm guessing off the number of rail sections 860 materials included
  10. Here's the ten thousand dollar question....how many hours did you put into the deck?
  11. Favorite way to start a barbecue

    Grill?
  12. Definitely a nice improvement with the sanding I don't use Penofin so Rick please correct me if I'm wrong here, but I imagine he is referring to the fact that you will have to do this same cleaning/sanding process every single year with the Penofin. IE its not maintenance friendly so you have to remove all the old stain to put another coat on versus a stain that would allow for a light cleaning and a recoat with the same stain.
  13. If the DEFY is a percarbonate based cleaner it wont work well in a garden sprayer. It off gasses messes with the pressure and you are right the granules are often large enough that they clog the tips on those small sprayers Broom in the bucket was a good solution. I don't do much ipe but I wouldn't be comfortable staining based on how it looks currently. Here's a sample shot of some cleaned and brightened IPE
  14. We spray the spindles and then walk around and brush out any runs or heavy areas. Unless we messed up and sprayed way to heavy in a certain area, I don't bother backbrushing the lattice
  15. Truck completely burned up

Out in the driveway this morning the entire truck burned to the ground. Started in the front so as far as I can tell it wasn't stain related. I always spread my tarps out to dry and get rid of oily rags. Luckily didnt hit the house. Drills, sanders, saws, sprayers, staining supplies...and spare me the chastising for this...but unfortunately all my invoices, customer proposals, business records, everything...was in the truck. Thats the worst part...Ive got jobs half finished I dont know where they live or how to contact them Anyway, guys pray for me and pray for the rebuilding. If you never knew...I'm only 21 years old, finally starting to learn something, business was really starting to heat up, and them BAM. So this is tough. Never been through anything remotely like this. Sure rocks your passion I have regular insurance to cover the truck just need to find out if I can cover any of the contents. My business insurance is for liability so I don't think that will help me.
  16. Truck completely burned up

My business isn't out of my vehicle though. The business is from the home. My vehicle is an asset owned by the company in the execution of my business operations
  17. Truck completely burned up

Everyone has been so great and I truly truly appreciate all of you so much. Beth thanks for the idea on the caller ID, with my blackberry I have every phone call logged on there so I looked at the calender for when I did estimates and could match up what house I must have called to confirm for each estimate. Cleared up with just about all of my customers for now so I think I might give myself a few days break before booking more work. All of you who have contacted me thanks so much and sorry if I haven't gotten to your calls. Celeste thanks so much and please tell Roger the same. Yall are truly a blessing. I'll let you know how it goes when I start sorting through the stuff I'm missing and figure out what I need to start the cash flow again Been a long day, time to get some sleep for me! Rest well everyone
  18. You put six coats of woodtux on?? Or you stripped 6 coats?
  19. How popular is your website?

    Do you have a website?
  20. what would you do????

1200 square feet of wood will take you maybe 6-7 gallons. Two pails from the sealer store will cost you about 150 each plus shipping. All in all probably get 10 gallons delivered for like 380 bucks. You definitely won't use all the stain so you will have enough extra for another small deck job probably.
  21. what would you do????

Why are you even talking about removing an owner?? There obviously was a mis-communication on stain types. One job shouldn't sink your business. Buy the AC, stain it, take a loss, and move on to another deck. Use the ready seal you have on another job. You can't honestly believe that 500 dollar of stain is gonna destroy your business??? I know there's tough customers, but its not worth fighting man.
  22. what would you do????

Just order the AC, stain it and be done with it. Don't worry about the acrylics color still in the wood. The AC Semi Trans cedar will definitely cover up way better than RS or WT.
