  1. Bye bye CWF

Its doable. Needs a booster though...we use propylene. Its pretty potent at 10oz a gallon though.
  2. From what I have to explain to customers I think that two product thing probably stems back to the past when there was a much more distinct difference between stain and sealer.
  3. EFC probably wouldn't have handled that heavy green mold in the before pics. What stain was on there dan?
  4. Website feedback 2 help!!!

Few Thoughts: Keywords on the bottom of your about us page looks real tacky Nice header and sideshow. I like the navigation bar To me your about us section was a bore. I dont really care how you moved to the area and bought your first pressure washer. Tell the customer something about you that will matter to THEM. How you are the most educated, most professional, etc etc. Not to mention you admit in there that you worked for a pressure washer and then turned on him to start your own business on the weekend. On your "why hire us section": Dont use the word chemicals. Sounds dangerous. And also FYI the size of your machine has nothing to do with the job you perform. In all truthfulness if you really wanted to spend the time you could wash your house just as well with a garden hose and a spray attachment. You sound like a snob talking down to your customers who may have small pressure washers. Check the use of "your" vs" you're" on several pages Good before and after photos You stole your paypal verification logo. The true logo has the code and link to paypal not just the image Your home page has almost no text. All the flashy words that are contained in the images wont be read by search engines. The FAQs dont expand far enough for me to read them. It cuts off parts of the answer Triple your prices
  5. Man I love honey gold Wish more people would pick that over brown sugar great job
  6. Bad Stripping Day

Ahh shiny acrylic... On one hand...You're getting closer to getting the rest of that stain off. Id go for one more heavy strip (10oz per gallon plus booster). This time use a stiff bristled deck brush to agitate the stripper as you go through the dwelling process. Spray stripper, scrub...spray more stripper...scrub...spray more stripper...scrub...pressurewash Make sure you neutralize strongly after stripping that too What type of wood is it?
  7. So are you trying to strip your own product off?

  14. Welcome back to the NEW TGS on version 3.7.0!

Can you turn the feature on where other users can tag threads? Itd be nice to go through some of the older ones and tag what they were about. Then someone could find the "HD-80" tag and see all the old threads that users had tagged. It would make searching in the future easier
  15. Ive used the 18inch ones but I prefer to keep mostly the regular 7inch pads. They are easier to me for backbrushing after spraying railings, posts and steps. Plus they cost about 2 bucks each. As for my "arsenal".... Other than the airless sprayer its just the regular assortment of brushes. Use mainly Wooster. The 4 inch ones are my favorite, but I keep the 6inch and a handful of 1.5inch angle cut brushes and 2inchers. I keep a few "handy pails" with liners for when something needs hand brushing Other than that its just the regular stuff, sheets, plastic, tape, roller trays, extra spray tips, mineral spirits, wiping rags, etc, etc, etc

  18. 2007 vs 2008

2008 is higher prices, higher closing, and higher profit for me. Weather is a bear but with woodtux Im much more comfortable staining a deck in the morning even if we get the afternoon rains like seem to be coming every day. Finished a deck with cover but a huge staircase exposed to the elements. As soon as we stained the last step the sky just opened up. Went back to look at it yesterday and even with heavy rain less than 5 minutes after I backbrushed the last step the woodtux still looked great
  19. search for propylene glycol Its the main ingrediant in Prestone Low Tox antifreeze and is a great booster. Use a little under half a gallon to a 5er of stripper for a heavy boost. Beth is always talking about a booster from ACR products so you may want to search for more information on that. I cant remember the name but it seems like good stuff
  20. all those fancy looking plants are gonna take a beating with the chem youll need to clean that wood
  21. Few Recent Jobs

great pics make sure you hold on to them for your portfolio
  22. Sodium hydroxide is an active ingredient in many deck strippers. its not the same thing to buy that and use it straight on a deck. There are many brands that have been developed and buffered to be effective at cleaning and if used properly effective in terms of cost. 23. How are there a lot of steps with no railings? And you said spot sanding for stain removal, are you going to be stripping these units? Are you even washing these decks? Why would you have sweeping and blowing dirt off included in your bid? If you are using a completely differant stain you can't just go right over the old areas even if they are still intact. I would pass on that project like no ones business I wouldnt waste another minute trying to bid that job.
  24. scary stuff

and as usual, even the craziest initiatives will never satisfy the hippies
  25. Problem with Dara_Pine by Cox

I cant speak anything regarding that brand of wood you used, but even the dryest wood seems to have some shrinking. I always do board replacements with no nails in between. Im not sure how that process of spacing boards came about, but everyone Ive talked to recomeneds snugging the wood together and inevitably you will end up with some gap
