  1. Hot water on houses?

Ok here is the bottom line with this discussion ColdvsHot. In my opinion is not who is right, more right, wrong or more wrong its just if it works for you do it. My preference is warm, not hot water, I too have washed both ways and yes I get the house clean either way. But my preference is warm water and the small increase in fuel cost I see dosen't effect my bottom line (yet).
  2. Hot water on houses?

I use around that temp to clean houses. I agree with John, try washing dirty dishes (or clothes) in cold water. Warm water speeds things up and makes for a cleaner product in the end. imo
  3. The Grime Scene Roundtable

Sounds like a good idea to me, count me in as well. October or November. Last year I worked into November but this year is slow so far. So either month will work.
  4. pulling from a water tank

I have a 4gpm Hot Portable direct drive PW From Pressure Pro hooked to a 230G water tank. The line is plumbed to the low tank drain opening with 3/4 hose. I have mine plumbed with a 5gpm shurflow supplying water to the washer. That is the only way I could get water to flow to the washer. The entire unit is mounted on a frame which is higher than the tank outlet. With less than 120G of water the pump inlet is higher than the water level and no water will flow. Hope this helps, just plumb a pump and go, or since you're still looking get a belt drive.
  5. Cleaning gutters

    Yup just like that
  6. Cujos accident

Cujo and Pam have helped me with advise in the past and I to wish them a speedy recovery
  7. Cleaning gutters

Allbrite from Sun Brite Supply, applied with a brush sprayed on full strength. Works great, I have some pictures in the gallery as well. 5 gal will last me all season. I have also uesd purple power and simple green. These work well in a pinch, when I mess up and run out of Allbrite on the job.
  8. The X-Jet debate

Switched to down stream late last season, I love it. Use the x-jet for rinsing and applying chemicals to roofs. But for houses I'm now a down streamer.

  10. "partial" house wash?

I agree with Jimmy, I do the whole house or nothing. Had a customer tell me if the second story was too hard just wash the ground floor. (ugh?) I asked him if he washes just the lower doors, hood and trunk of his car and not the roof? Now to me roof's are somewhat different, I do try to sell the whole roof but, will clean just one side if pressed and the other shows no signs of mildew.
  11. extension pole

It does flex but not a lot. I like some flex it makes it easier to handle in my opinion. I do like it, before on some two story homes with porches I had to get up on the roof of the porch to get to the gutters to clean them. Now I can reach the gutters from the ground saves time and energy. It is heavier than the fiberglass 16 foot I have but what do ya expect.
  12. help me with gutters please

I've used Sun Brites all brite for gutters now for about 5 years. Straight out of a pump up on the gutters when I can reach them, which isn't often here. When I can't reach them I spray a soft auto brush from Lowes and with either a 16' or 30' extension pole brush it on and rinse it off. Been working great for me for 5 years. But, Do Not, use it on the aluminum facia or around windows without diluting it. It can and will (read has) stripped the paint from them. thanks
  13. Mike sorry I hate it when my fingers spell something different than my brain thought it ment. LOL I bought a new downstreamer from Bob. Haven't checked it to see what the ratio is and no it isn't adjustable. I believe Bob from Pressuretek comes on here maybe he'll speak up and let us know what the ratio is. Or when I get time I'll check it out and report back. Sorry for the confusion.
  14. Yes that is it. I also bought a good proportioner from Bob as well, the one that came/comes with your washer probably isn't that good, I know mine wasn't.
  15. Not at all, folks here have helped me, what is it you want to know? I have a 3500 & 4000 psi hot/cold 4 gpm machine. Bob @ pressuretek sent me a 0020 and a 0030 tip they both seem to work about the same. My mix is 2.5G 12.5% 3/4G citrakleen from Steve Rowlett, some liquid tide for hang time, cascade for the windows . shoot on let dwell then rinse off. I usually have the heat on about 110 - 120deg as well. I also done that with the m5 as well.
  16. Ditto here. No problem reaching 2/3 stories. May have to us a 48" lance not the 12" like I usually use. As far as clearing the hose I use that time to soak the gutters and facia a second time then when its clear I rinse the house. I rinse with the M5 so when I'm under a porch I open it up to fan and us what is in the hose to presoak the siding railings and posts. I was a diehard x-jet fan (still am to a certain extent) but since Bob at Pressuretek got me headed in the right direction with the proper tips down streaming is the way to go. Just had to get my mix right. I also find I use less mix now to accomplish the same results. Also since I usually work alone its easier to just pull out 200' of pressure hose than 200' and 30'+ foot of x-jet hose and the bucket that ya have to move around. There is always more than one way to skin a cat and just do what works.
  17. I used the x-jet for 4 years now this year I switched to down streaming. I can't ya how much I like it better than x-jet. I still carry the x-jet on the truck and do use it, mainly to rinse now. 1500 sq ft single story house vinyl siding I can wash in a little over an hour by myself from set up to tear down. The only thing I brush is the gutters (if required). I use 12.5% and citrakleen that I mix up on site. Like its been said in earlier posts, sounds like you applied the cleaner too weak. Get your mix right and lose the brush for everything except the gutters.

But.... after that I got 1 mile to every 2 qts of oil, when the lifters would stick open I'd pull over and pour in oil until they free'd up.
