  1. How is your 2005 season going?

Right on schedule maybe just a little ahead for the turn, now for the second half sprint to the finish...........
  2. Low Ball, low balling.

I tend to agree (somewhat) with almost all comments made here. However, I just ask myself, why? Why do I need to place a tag on them at all? I feel that I have a full plate just taking care of, my customers, and promoting my business, and growing along the way. Maybe one day way off in the future after I've gotten so big and have lots of crews out working. Then maybe I'll have time to worry about the small guy, who is just starting out and don't have all the bells and whistles. Or the other guy that goes out spends 8 hours on a ladder, and washes a two story for beer money, who will only be around for one season (if that). No I think I'm too busy minding my own business to worry about someone elses. Just my .02 worth
  3. Which to buy, X-JET or M-JET Nozzle???

I have both the x-jet and the M-5, like Henry I found the M-5 to be about 6 to 8 ft shorter than the x-jet. So if I need to get high on the Gable ends its the x-jet, if its a low reach then the M-5. Just my preference. If I was going to buy 1 I would go with the x-jet with the close nozzle, better to be able to reach high places. When your close just screw the close nozzle on. Just my thoughts on the matter. Either way you can't lose, they're great pieces of equipment to have.
  4. Customer contacted me wanting someone to wash their business as well as the the roof, Cedar Shake. Anyone in the area interested please contact me for more info. Thanks Howard
  5. Show me your equipment...

I had a property manager see my truck with the equipment loaded. I now wash building and flat work for him because he saw that I had what it took and wasn't just gonna use a wand on the flat work (like the guy that I bid against). Seems like a strange request but if it gets you the job, whats the problem?
  6. Beth I have sent more than one email to Russ about the Tint kit, and have never gotten an answer to my questions. When I talked to Sun Brite they said they had no idea when it would be. I too needed some more Western Cedar and couldn't get it. Turned out the customer canceled the seal job. Not sure whats going on with ESI and its none of my business, I'll just find other products to use. Pressure Teks products are good and close to the same formulation as ESI's. I know they are not the same but when you can't get the product gotta go with what you can get.
  7. Here are a couple of pic's I've posted more pictures in the Gallery of a house I did last Saturday. I call this house the Tree House, take a look and I'm sure you'll see why. The owner said he was going to paint the soffetts and eves but after seeing how good, clean it came out he may not paint the after all. Enjoy
  8. Contractors License

I can't agree with Beth more, I personally know many contractors with home improvement license who know nothing about the proper way to strip and clean a deck or fence. Not to mention how or when is the proper time to apply stain/sealers. So just because someone has the license don't automatically mean they know what their doing. In Maryland home improvement contractors have to carry 50k liability insurance minumum, I carry much more than that. I beleive that its just another way for the government to get their hand in my pocket. The test has nothing to do with power washing, building houses, decks, ect.... it deals primarily with government regulations, bidding, estimating, at least that is what I've been told by those that have taken the test. It has nothing to do with "Do you know what your doing" "Can you actually do what you say you can do for the home owner". "Do you really know how to build a deck that won't fall down". :rant:Ok, I'll get off my soap box now. Thanks for letting me ramble
  9. Contractors License

Its required in Maryland if you are applying stain or sealer to homes, deck, fences, concrete ect... It's not required if you pressure wash the home, deck, fence, concrete but apply no sealer. I can clean anything just not apply sealer or stain I just prep it for someone else or the home owner to apply.
  10. Company Shirts

Acidburn Could I get the contact info for the hats and shirts? I use Dickeys white tee's and go thru at least 20 a season. Course most are because the wife seems to think that they are disposable just because they won't come completely clean. So back down to the store I go for more shirts. WOMEN.....go figure.....
  11. $7,000 Budget for new equipment

Being an old squirrel hunter (back in my youth) remember this, it takes a lot of squirrel to make a mess. With power washers, a hot water unit can operate as a cold water unit anytime. But when you need it (concrete, gum, grease, oil) it can and will decrease your clean time by having hot water. I to have a direct drive unit and have had no problems with it. Granted I don't have it hooked to a tank but I still have had no problems with my direct drive. When I upgrade my equipment later this season I'll probably get another direct drive, but it will be another Hot/Cold machine I do know that.
  12. $7,000 Budget for new equipment

Take a look at this site. I'm going to get a bid from them a little later this spring for a trailer. They also have just machines if that is what your looking for the trailers are full up turn key http://www.whsedirect.com/webapp/pressure_washers/pressure_washer_trailer/pressure_washer_trailers.asp
  13. Help with a bid

If he has someone that'll do all that for $150.00 tell to let you know when its going to be done so you stop by with some friends to watch (LOL) My price for all that in my area wouild be around $700.00
  14. Words Women Use

I just get the head shake and the door slam......
  15. Favorite thing to cook on the grill?

I voted for everything, I love to cook on the grill. Cooked up some ribs and brats yesterday. Brisket?? did some one say Brisket?? The brisket I do is so tender and juicy, beer can chicken, and pig roast? I do at least 1 sometimes more whole pigs on the grill every year. That is for a company with 250 employees, I cook the pig and do 80 pounds of ribs as well. Emeril's BBQ shows along with Bobby Flay's show I always watch when they're doing BBQ. "FIRE IT UP HAND ME A BEER"
  16. Dirty Gutters

Thought I'd post some pictures of some gutters I done last Saturday.
  17. commercial contracts info needed

I also hate jumping on these but Carlo's could I see a copy as well. I'm working on a maintenace plan to present to the property management that I just done the work for. Maybe both of us could benefit. Thanks
  18. Do you mist the deck surface first to cool it down?
  19. Crawfish season is in!!!

    mud bugs....ummummumm good........
  20. Dark grey runs on brick

I used a product from ecochem called "Safe Restore" used it on the commercial building I cleaned (pictures in Gallery) it works on all sorts of stains, rust, green stains from brass/copper plates on memorials. I'd give it a try, I know it works for me.
  21. Dirty Gutters

Thanks for all your compliments, I used all brite from "Sun Brite Supply". Usually I just have to spray on my brush and slide it down the gutters, but on these I had to spray directly on the gutters then brush and rinse. I've been using all brite for the past 4 years and nothing else has come close to these results. Purple Power and Simple green are good but not this good. One caution, don't use all brite on the aluminum flashing below the gutters or on the gable ends, it will take the paint off. If I have to clean below the gutters I use Purple Power or Simple Green. Call Tracy he'll take care of ya. Thanks all
  22. Dirty Gutters

    Some more same house
  23. Information?

StainlessDealHoward and Philip, are youx-jetting that mix? I'm a newbie so please forgive me if that's a really dumb question. Yes I am x-jeting my mix as well
  24. Information?

I'm all about cutting cost I'll check into it thanks.
  25. Information?

I just found a reliable source for 12.5% so I'm working now to adjust my mix. But, prior to this I was using regular 4.5% to 5% I bought at BJ's, Sam's or Walmart. The large 1.45 Gal size, use two (3 gal) of those to 5 gal. Now I believe I should be able to get the same results with 1.5 gal of 12.5%. No the tide doesn't kill the mold it's mainly for foaming for extra hang time. I'll look into Dollars brand of soap thanks.
