Tell us some of your accidents?
RSuds replied to C&S Property Services's topic in Chemicals & Safety
I was in long island 12-13 years ago doing apartments on a lift when a sink hole opened up and the lift fell in it as I was in the basket. I had another guy with me and we were in a corner and the window at the top of the fire escape was open so I swung the lift over and he got out to close the window. I was in the basket but was hanging over the rail on the fire escape when the front wheels went in the hole. I was about 35 ft. High. The basket was extended out and as the wheels went down the hole the basket went down fast and slammed into the ground. As it went down I grabbed onto the rail and was hanging, I was able to pull myself up. It was really scary. 3 hours later after they came out and we got the lift out of the hole I was back up to finish the job. If the back wheels went into the hole i would have been slammed into the ground the other way. I was lucky. -
I would not lease a truck because they get rusted and beat up a lot. I also would rather pay it asap and not deal with payments for a couple years after. Try to get 0% finance and you will not feel as bad.

You earned it enjoy it. Ya baby. -
We have been working in the rain and cold all week. It gets hard when the wind starts blowing. We are doing 4-5 story buildings and even with all our 10 gal. Machines it gets hard to reach with bad winds. I can deal with cold and rain but not wind.

8 GPM COLD vs. 5.6 GPM HOT!! ?
RSuds replied to White WASH's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hit water is good for concrete, for removing grease gum and oil. Also it helps with some other stuff but with the right chemicals you can clean a lot of stuff with cold water. We do a lot of houses and buildings and have I have more 10 gal. Cold water machines then hot water. It depends on what you want to clean. We do have hot water but hardly use it. For apartments and houses you do not need it. For shopping centers and gas stations you do need hot water. -

Need advice on customer scheudling and communication
RSuds replied to plainpainter's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I do not understand. We schedule everything. You need to be organized in order to run things. I did have a gutter business were I would just say we will be out this week but with power washing you should schedule a date that is good for both of you and that way you can make sure they are happy when you are done and you can get your check. It is a pain to call everyone and reschedule but people would rather have it that way and so would I. We do a lot of jobs and some days need to reschedule 15-20 jobs for 2 weeks out and people are not happy but that is what we do. I try to leave a couple openings in the schedule some times. In order to make your power wash customers happy you need to stay in touch with them. Also you can still power wash in the rain. Just watch out for the lightning. -

Goodyear was great years ago. Go with the 2 wire, they will last longer. -

I do not like to do the wood that much but still need to keep busy and when I get good money it is hard. I always say I will do anything for money. -

Here is a log home that we are doing for the second time. We did it in 2003 and we are now just prep cleaning it and ready seal, also we are doing all brown trim. The weather sucks. They are replacing the roof and that is why we did not do that. And yes I had one on the deck with a rod in my hand and did not catch anything. Nice people and we stay at the house, it takes 4 of us 3-4 days. -
I got another 10 gal. machine with 31 horse power engine and a 660 Cat pump and it rocks. We put 300 feet of 3/8 hose got 2500 psi. We then put 300 feet of 1/2 inch on and got 3000 psi. The 500 psi diffrence is not that much for me to use the 1/2.

RSuds replied to bigchaz's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
My main problem I ever had with staining was with sikkens. We started doing a lot of them 12-13 years ago. Then when we went back to recoat them it was great on most pressure treated decks but cedar decks did not like it and it peeled. I am sure you all know. We took care of a lot of people and did cost me a lot of money but most all of them were happy and did use us again. You live you learn. -

I like Thompson's????? -
We do have 4 10 gal. Machines and they all have cat pumps that i run the chemicals thru the pump. I know people do not like this but it is the best and fastest way for us. We have 300 feet on all reels and we add more hose at some jobs. And the downstreamers do not work with that much hose. I do have one 10 pump that is not a cat and we do have a downstreamer on it with a pump that helps pump the chemicals thru the hose but it does have some issues.

Nice job we have done many of them and it is in the time that you leave the stripper on. I would say that I have a hard time with sitting and watching the stripper just sit for a hour or two, but that sounds wrong???
