  2. Price

Just stopped by, saw this thread was still active. Russ started this in 05. WOW. interesting to see how prices are gonna be with this economy. Hope all are well. reed
  3. Bartering

I do a "trade off"/bartering if you want to call it bartering. I redo a deck, about 900sf of wood every two years in return for a key to 248 acres of land to hunt on. GOOD TRADE in my book. reed
  4. I vote OTHER, I hate call backs stating there are several boards that didn't take the stain. When I go check it out, it is only the difference seen when on piece of wood is heart wood and the other is sap wood. You just can't explain enough to customers the difference in wood densities and stain appearance.
  5. Who's Ready

I have 3 decks and 1 *&^%^&** fence waiting to get started. Damn weather!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Readyseal $

I thought the price would go up this year. I will be raising my prices again also. Doing more maintenance decks these days than new ones.
  7. Outraged

Folks, this will stir the blood of every PATRIOT. KSDK NewsChannel 5 - Video Center It is not just here in Missouri, but all across our great nation. check this site out for more numbers (at the bottome of the home page). Missing in America Project Reed
  8. Outraged

It is the first link, the second one is the organization trying to do the right thing. reed
  9. In the 8 years of using ready seal, I have never had any sort of combustion occurance.
  10. I just have to show off.....

Congrats to you and your daughter. Please thank her for her service from me and over 87,000 members of the Patriot Guard.
  11. Who's working

On my third deck already and am booked till the end of May. Just need the weather to cooperate. This time of year is all iffy on the weather. Tornado time. We are lucky that the hail hasn't started yet.
  12. I really like that color. I always thought that the red cedar was perfect for the IPE, or around here, Brazillian Ironwood.
  13. They don't strip either. If your deck has a prior stain on it they don't strip, but clean and put their silicone crap on it. Here in the St. Louis area they have quite a few BBB actions. Plus, they are way over priced, almost double of what you and I would charge. Product was developed for concrete overpasses, not wood. Say away from this stuff and discourage it's use on wood whenever you can. MHO.
  14. I'm with Jim. Not necessary to mask these. As stated, just keep them wet and you should be good to go. Also, when you neutralize be sure to rinse the spindles. They will sometimes have residue of the brightner on them when it dries. I always keep a rag damp with mineral spirits and wipe each spindle as I roll on the stain. This will get off any ReadySeal and residue from you brightner. reed
  15. Sparkle wash

There is a Sparkle Wash in my area. Way underbids anyone else here. That's all I can say in an open forum about this.
  16. estimating Sheet

I drop in almost everyday to see what's up. Raining here all week and I had the week off.
  17. estimating Sheet

Not to highjack the thread. But just went to past posts and read some of them form 3 to 4 years ago. Man, have we grown in business or what! Very interesting reads.
  18. 20 years in the Air Force, 16 years as an instructor for testing of the heart and lungs. Licensed and Certified in Ultrasound Imaging of the Heart. (Still maintain this today), Certified Instructor for Applied Sciences. Built a few monster decks with step son and went into deck and fence restoration. reed
  19. PumpTec M15

Yes you can, that's why they use viton seals. But with every chem you put through it, you should always rinse it with clean water afterwards. I usually put 2.5 to 5 gallons of clean through it while I am packing up and that is the last thing to get packed up. reed
  20. just bought switchback XT

Wish I could afford a Matthews. Great bow I know. Was at the Bow Shop the other day and was real impressed the the Fred Bear Instinct. Was affordable, but would have had Hell to pay if I did take it home. I am really fired up for Deer season. We have planted some fall food plots and will be going out this weekend for cutting some more fire wood. reed
  21. That's what I am doing, every other year. Works great
  22. Moisture Meter

If the battery is bad the meter will peg when you hit the check button. Otherwise once you calculate it, you are good to go. You can cross reference the meter reading with the chart that comes with the Jlyte
  23. Moisture Meter

Go with the J-lite, your not skimping on Sealer, so don't skimp on your tools.
  24. Starting up this monday with the first deck already have 4 to go. Hope this year is better than last year. I have been on here almost everyday, but just haven't posted. How are things in your world? reed
  25. Wood Defender is another choice also. The Semi Transparent is awesome.
