New Cedar Deck - Can't get the Gray Out!!
James replied to Norman99's topic in DIY'ers - Ask The Pro's
The grey your seeing will not come off with any cleaner. The wood has degraded a bit and change color but not enough to come completely off. Cedar 6 months old you can just bleach it and rinse with no pressure. You need to buff it off with a 3 m pad. Sanding is a bit much . -

Sap in Mahogany decking
James replied to Stephen's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I take care of a lot wood in Fairfield county. Usually the sap appears as a whitish line and turns to a powder. Its not sticky lick pressure treated. If the deck builder sees it while building they should not use the board. -

A lot of wood !!
James replied to Adrian's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Some good stuff ADDDDDD .... So do u put down a oil sock around the deck when oiling ? -
Semi solid might take much longer or not work at all . The finish has to de- laminate from the wood so you can push it off. Some products are better or just very hot water works. Or a combo of both stripper and hot water .

I love cleaning stone. I just cleaned some Limestone. The difference and color change was so dramatic. Then I cleaned 14000 sqft of pavers, 4000 sqft of bluestone , 2000 sqft of concrete stone mixed blocks around a pool. Same house ! Gotta get some photo's up.

The more I read about fuel it looks like gas might reach $4 a gallon by spring. When gas reached $4 a few years ago it was the number one factor that hurt my business in my 25 years of business. It killed other businesses budgets , home owner budgets and other business that have to use fuel everyday. If it goes that high it will be an economy killer in my opinion. What are other peoples thoughts? One positive it does seem to put hacks and lowballers out of business.

New wood vs old wood on decks
James replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
New pt doesn't match up well with old pt. I save old pt from tear downs for board replacement. I let the new boards stay unstained until the next maintenance and usually get a perfect match. I keep cedar boards in my yard aging for the purpose of replacement and being able to stain and this works great. I used to do this for all types but got lazy! Mahogany matches up pretty well but the stain doesn't last. -

KISS Today my wife says her new pants are a little big and do they look funny? I say you'll grow into them ! My son starts laughing ! good one dad ! Great start to the day............
