Celeste , what Russell did back then and how it was handled was criminal. The attach on Wood Tux was a result of what a person and product did and didn't do. -

Rick, some parts of this board are not for public view. If we cannot communicate between each other how do we find out issues with a product. Distributors and Sealing companies are not forth coming concerning problems. Thats what this board is for is it not? So it's OK for a company to be sponsor of the site and do major marketing to our industry but we have to keep it quiet and hush hush if there is a problem. I have not even touched on the problems I've had . I just changed everything back to what it was and lost a few clients due to product failure. I now have the project I did with you with issues. -

Trying to become an internet company has it's risk and this is one of them. Real world results. Contractors who want to discuss results but don't because someone's a good guy ? Sealers affect our business and it takes two years to get results. Is this not a wood board or was a wood board? It's disturbing to me that contractors don't want to discuss there problems because they promote a product on there web sight and don't want that info out. I do a lot of testing and if a find an issue others must be having the same problems. I have found people reluctant to talk ? This type of discussion should be done out of view of the public. -

Very nice . I have a brutal Suckins strip in my future. The older I get the more I hate brutal strip jobs. Did you shoot and clean many times to remove the layers or let it dwell for the 50 min , clean it and shoot it again. For Suckins I have used a solvent based stipper from ecao chem with great success. The solvent makes it penetrate and melt off. $$$$$ -
Rick doesn't do anything half assed. I thought that was your wife so I didn't say anything.

Very nice Rick! Dan, not a concern with RS running down. Only when doing the job and a few days after. -
First time that this has happened to me. Usually the residue ( white haze) from the neutralizing process will just wipe off the painted trim or rinse off. This time it went through the paint and I have etched droplet marks all over the trim. Same mix forever and same process. Has anyone noticed this on the newer paints being used. Or was it a crappy paint and or job ? Customer is touching up because job came out great and they are great understanding people. Even after I wiped it down and tried every trick(abrasive) to remove the white droplet marks they would reappear .Have never seen this reaction before.

Do everything with RS first. If you want wait a month after using RS and its dry then paint over it. You will have A GOOD MOISTURE BARRIER to protect the paint from peeling.

The wood in the photo is cedar.
-
Any kind of semi solid or a film type stain that traps moisture and doesn't allow the wood to dry out promotes rot. If the wood is close to the ground it's worse. Cedar decays pretty fast if allowed to stay wet. Keep spacing clean for air flow, wash every year and use a clear oil. Will last for years. I have 15 year old cedar decks better than new.

36 to 54 hundred hundred. The product will be below the surface and into the wood. Much sanding. -

I have done it many times with better results than AC. I use boiled and add some mold protection. -

TWP prep advice
James replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I just did a major strip of 3 to 4 coats of paint off 1500 sqft of floor PT wood. Very little penetration of product due to the wood prep ( sanding, resurfacing tools). Washed the wood at the end and washed twice in between stripping and preping. -

Sure it's not for new wood. New wood should go through a few watering cycles to open up the pores of the wood before oiling. Read it again and get back to us ! -

IPE Stain
James replied to patriot pressure washing's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Boards of ipe do not dry out. I take care of a few decks close to the ground and never sealed. These deck are over 15 years old one 20 years old. When putting a sealer on them they get hotter to walk on ( one around a pool). Since I change to just cleaning them the customer is much happier with the results and so am I. Ipe' has so much natural oil in them they dry out with in hours after a rain. Its another reason a sealer will not last. -

Fill the wood up until it looks good . Gallon per 100 sqft ,new wood less, thick boards more.
