On new cedar less than 6 months old i would not use a pre-carb cleaner and do not. It raises the grain and scrubbing it will raise the grain more. 6 month old cedar will not take 2 coats of Ready Seal . It will take one coat. The wood has to be a year old before it can take two. On new cedar like yours a bleach solution works much better to kill the mildew and just a rinse with a garden hose as not to affect the surface of the wood because removing this surface will allow less oil to penetrate. Fixing your problem- Ready Seal doesn't get sticky but you over applied the product . After a couple of rain storms the oil on top should wash away or you can wipe it down with mineral spirits. Note- you didn't read any of my post for cedar! lol

Ipe' stain longevity

Rick, can you put up a 24 hour video camera so we can watch the finish wear away ? -
May have torched the building. Are u sure its Alum ?Bleach is not going to do anything on a burn , soot stain. Have some acid , degreaser, and sodium hydroxide with you. If it's Alum should be easier to fix and blend.

So your referred to a very over the top new construction sun porch . Ipe floors and beams, pine ceilings, cedar framing between all windows. Lots of glass , storms 4 by 6 and fixed screens, and glass 3 by 4 just off floor 3 sides. Built 6 months ago. All wood except ipe was pre-sealed. First thing I notice is finish is coming off exterior wood and inside porch there is not a very good job. I call builder and he tells me they pre sealed the wood. Home owner asked what do think of the job? I say lets put a another coat on exterior wood because thats the correct course of action (mill glaze). Ipe floor lots of stains and tongue en groove. Debris embedded between boards and lots of future splinters for young tots. owner- Can you sand wood to smooth out ( room is just all finished)? No drainage.

Question about linseed oil
James replied to taintedtattoo's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Pretty interesting read if you plug in" Linseed oil" and do a advanced search then sum reading. How people change, products change and how some don't change. I predict another change of opinion about a product after next year. -

Copper based additives prevent mildew the best. Living in the Southwest will prevent mildew growth. Semi solids will do better and your able to clean them for easy maintenance. So the harder the out side shell is and the quicker it dries the less likely you get mildew. I only add the copper. -
Just call your local VFW , American Legion, Army National Guard, and VA Hospital for potential helping.

You can't push through shoulder surgery recouping . You will screw it up and the operation or make it take longer to heel. I've I had 10 surgeries and know a bit about recouping. -
