Tannins acid- Mildew Bleach, Leaves/trees can carry a fungus which produce an aggressive mold but that I understood was created by constant moisture. -

If Spirits and acetone did nothing EFC will do less on a stain on a brick. Simple Green straight should of been enough. You can make a poultice with EFC take some powder and make a slurry with Acetone and wipe it on the stain and cover with plastic. This will draw the stain out. You might have to do it multi times. Sounds like you have more of an issue or more oil was spilled than you are saying if all of the other attempts didn't work. Getting minor stains off of AC is relatively simple.
-
EFC will do nothing. How much AC did you spill on the brick ? Spirits and Acetone will evaporate away without leaving a stain. DID u use the new white milky Mineral spirits ?
-
Keep putting some Mineral spirits or assitone on the stain . Agitate the spot with a brush and that will move the pigment away.

Drying issues with A.C. semitransparent
James replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Dan the only way you could of enhance that finish is by rubbing it in by hand and wiping right away ( maybe a half of a cup cut in half ). You put too much on on top of another finish? You could win the Grime Scene OOPS award for this one !!!!! Naptha and Acetone work better than spirits in this case or cut some Boiled linseed oil and rub it over to create more of a film might work >? -
Eyes open between 4:30 and 5:30. No matter what time I fall asleep. Going to the Gym keeps me refreshed. If I sway away for more than 2 weeks I start to feel terrible like last week !!

Mike , I do not know anyone who is not confused with Upe. It is the most mis- understood wood used for decks. Sealing companies make product for a wood they really don't understand but they do understand no product will last so in that regard I guess there smart ( lots of repeat biz) . Most people apply product too soon, then some over prep the wood (sand the crap out of it), don't follow the directions, over apply product. Paint stores, lumber companies, deck builder give horrible advice. I have been to too many decks that people have tried 4 or 5 products already. The last couple of years have been terrible for a wood like Upe. Rain and lots of will decrease the life of a finish on Upe. The more rain we have the more mildew you'll get. Upe gets dirtier than other woods and holds the dirt. So what usually looks like a failed finish is dirt and mildew on top of the finish. I went to do a maintenance yesterday an a PT deck and it was in awesome condition so I said lets skip it. Went to do a Upe and it looked horrible but it was only very dirty. A lite bleaching made it look great !

You bought a wood that can not except a sealer. Trying to make a sealer last longer than a year or putting a sealer on the will stick longer than a year causes more problems. Your dissatisfaction with Penofin was not the sealers fault.

Masking Strategy for Acrylic Strip Directly Above Green Lawn??? Aye Yaye
James replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
On a side note this is how to take a Pro -Active approach if u do screw up the lawn !! Take a Turbo nozzle and go over the grass from the base of the wood out 2 feet and then recommend thats where some rocks should go for better drainage . -

- a-1 pressure washing
- deck refinishing
- (and 3 more)
-
Have they been back to look at the job ? If your in the refinishing Biz u should no how to fix and refinish !
-
The application of the product is unacceptable . Tell them u are Lawyering up or fix it ! The combination of sanding prep, mixing new and old boards and the lack of understanding what to expect from the product when doing those things has lead to these problems. Just a little Faux pas !!!!

Ipe' stain longevity
James replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Callyfornyah doesn't get the mildew like the Colonies do. I never herd of the solvents canceling a mildewcide or something out? Solvents are the carriers of stuff and the solid reducers. I cut product all the time to reduce solid content and mix and match.
