Stamped Concrete - What is this?
James replied to PressureWashE's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Before u do anything. Do a water test see if that area absorbs water and if a sealer is present. If it doesn't absorb water proceed to what Celextra said. -
I 've researched the product fairly well. It's prefect for the type of projects you describe big and to costly to maintain down the road. All the questions and ideas I had for use could not be answered and there was no data to go by.

Pricing is going down even further for house washing.

90% of my business is referrals from my past and present associations and a network of people who have herd of me.
-
Referrals evolve from doing a great job to getting them from someone of more meaning or importance in relation to what needs to be done.

Just had a Snowball fight with my son !! Was in T shirt yesterday ?

Gee, your minds are in the gutter! The white is like sap in soft woods. Have encountered many times. In hardwoods it's not gooey it's white and powdery
-
Ricky, the white coming out of a hardwoody is like the sap coming out of a softwoody.

Cabots Solid Stain
James replied to RGilliam's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I'm I missing something ! Is that mold covering the deck or green paint ? -
Well it's here the first frost of the season ! It was cold yesterday and windy. The wind has been brutal here for 3 weeks with no let up. It's usually mild on the ocean in Fall? Re doing the Grey house in Cleaner Times. After four years the stain held up awesome! Only had to do a bleaching and a rinse. The sides not facing the water do not need to be done !! I am putting a coat on them however ! The worst thing I have ever done is widening the gaps between the mahognay deck boards. What a CHALLENGE but a huge difference. It's terrible to do, it blows, my needs hurt, my finger hurts, my ears hurt even though I have protection. Saw dust for lunch !!!

James replied to Jhignutt's question in Residential Pressure Washing
On cement block I have used a Turbo Noz first and then shoot with a Bleach solution. Great for prep and knocking off loose paint and making a big MESS! -

When to say "NO"!
James replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Re-bulking is not a theory !I have oiled wet wood (cedar shakes) in order to let the back dry out and not have the front absorb morning due. Which was turning into a nightmare next to the ocean. I do and have done many new decks. Poor construction practices contribute more and the way nails are driven in to boards haven problems. The sun turns cedar grey quickly and that is a problem for a sealer that films and has dryers in it. If it dry's to the grey part of the wood it will fail sooner. If you let Cedar age to loose some extractives and then replace them with an oil in essence you stop the aging process. Then from there it's Managed Care for Wood ! Did I say I hate CEDAR !!!!!!!!!!! -

The info on the internet concerning Cedar and finishes is from the Film Forming perspective . It does not relate to penetrating stains. -

Re bulking the the wood fibers and keeping the moisture / weather out creates more stability. When wood is allowed to suck moisture in and let dry repeatedly . The ends will degrade faster than the center and cup. Went by a cedar roof job I did in a April and the shakes flatten out better than I thought it wood. I also completed a house of similar construction ( this thread ) . 120 gallons of RS! It had never been sealed or treated. -

James replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Ken, use light colors of AC like Cedar tone or Natural or mix'em, Reducing the solids to 50,60% works better on newer cedar. Light colors don't look as bad on cedar during the aging process. Less pigment the better. My best mix of RS on cedar is half Klear Halph Lite bRown and dilute it with some Natural Toner. Great natural look with enough UV block. -

Cedar needs to age. Doing it within 6 months of being built is a waste of time because it will look chitty and have to be redone in 6 months unless thats your plan. I like when cedar sits about 4 years ( deck boards)? Dan, That is the best looking job and photo you've posted. Mahogany is just about the most porous wood i deal with( depends which brand of course) and cambara. They suck oil !! -
