Longevity vs ease of use
James replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I think it's to vague of a question with many way's to interpret the function. Ease of future maint. is at the top along with maintaining the integrity of the wood. Understanding wood and how it degrades is the first step on how to approach understanding sealers. -

Ipe advice
James replied to Mountain View's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I take care of a few Ipe's that have never been sealed. There's no cracking. The cracking or spliting that happens is going to happen weather it's sealed or not. The wood it meant not to be sealed. -

Free Pot Brownie's !! 3 with a House Wash and a Bakers dozen with a Deck Restore over a Grand. This works great with X Deadhead"s and Baby Boomers looking for a BUZ. Put annual Maint's on Auto Pilot !! Repeat dozen at 60 dollars a month !!!!! -

Stripping Upe' Sucks. I have in the past with very good success stripped multi layers of ATO on Ipe'. Let it sit for 6 months and redo it at what cleaning I thought wood work. The weather and sun do a great job at breaking down that crap. Sanding the stuff blows. -

The other wet wood stain?
James replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Dan , I use it for it's purpose to defeat the moisture problem. Then I switch to what I want to use to maintain the wood. -
The other wet wood stain?
James replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
It's great for areas that have high moisture content and can't dry out. By using that product it allows the wood to dry out and protect it. The wood must be 20%. Areas around lakes , wood close to the ground, ect ect ect . U get the idea.... U can use it on dry wood. Boron is a pesticide. -
