For All Southern Woodies
James replied to Don Phelps's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Redwood, Pt and Mahoganey are easier to care for. Ipe is a paine to maint a color and any filming product is going to be a paine to strip off (Wood Tux wet is still in the lab). But if you like grey ipe is it . Redwood is the easest wood I take care of. It takes hardly any oil and maintains the color!!! It also last forever. More costly than Ipe but less labor. Cypress is in the same boat but will take longer to maintain a color. This stuff is impervious to penitrating oils. In 5 years it will be ready to stain ? Pt is cheap and with RS will last forever. I have PT decks that are 10 years old that are soft to the touch because of the oiling process . -
Glass is porous any chemical left on will oxidize and ectch. I have seen sticker's left on windows (marvin) for 6 months and the name was etched in the glass, Also Hurd, Anderson ect.. I have seen a painter distroy all the windows on a house with bleach ( 35000 dollars) worth! Hard water from sprikler's etches glass or it builds up. Over time anything dripping off you house and onto your glass will effect it. If I'm cleaning a house over 4000 sqft with allot of glass. I have one person brushing glass. Take the time and go around and brush off the dried chem's.

Question on 2 and 3 story decks
James replied to Cleaner Image's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Rc cola and a moon pie alright..... -
Your going to have a window or two that stuff leaks onto. Go fix it . A 6800 sqft house has friends with house's as big or bigger. When doing a house that big I worry more about the glass than the mold. I brush the glass twice and rinse. The stuff blows all over or offer window cleaning ?

That will happen with any type of rug. The finish is protected from the sun. The sillycone point is a good one . I stripped a 450 sqft Of Aussy Sap Fluid yesterday (IPE'). Did it twice high pressure. I have not seen it dry yet. -

The new Pt is harder to get RS in than the old stuff?? -
I cleaned two Western Red Cedar houses both over 30 years old and never stained. Came out great one with bleach the other pre carb'ed. One desided not to oil the other went with ready seal looks great after 3 years. Great wood old growth!!!

rake leaves- Black jeans look cool- teenagers always ask about my jeans.

The tannins are comming to the surface ( black color). You need to use wood brightner ( acid). Do this after cleaning.

Should I Or Should I Not?
James replied to Jarrod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I did a Suckkens removal 2 weeks ago on cedar. Ran two machines. 1200 sqft x 2 bucks with F18 max. I"ve used both strippers on Sick o's. I get less furring with F18. I x Jet"ed the deck first to clean off the dirt and mold then applied the stripper. I did 2 applications of 30 min's and it removed 90%. -

James replied to Limeade's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Me too.! 7 inches of rain the past weekend. Backed up bad in woodcare. Having trouble scheduling house washes as fill in's. -
Agitate them with a brush then rinse. The grime on windows is different than on the building. Or should I say the way glass holds and collects grime is different. I brush all glass and rinse.

Ken, not on cedar with the coverage only PT. Cedar depends on the age and if it was sealed previously. Also what grade. Did I say I hate cedar? I just did 6 of these babies. Western, southern , eastern and northern. LOL.......Figure about 200sqft less than 5 years old and never been sealed for " oil of lay" anti aging cream RS.

Fuzzies on Cedar Poll
James replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Joe, I'll have to check it's very old. My inlaw's have owned a cleaning company since 1929 and didn't throw anything away. It works very well. I just completed a cedar job that had about 40 % clear stain left in area's . What a pooper! The exposed wood furred badly. "DEfurno" more worked great. On hardwoods even better it smoothe's out the ruff looking area's after stripping in a snap! -
