The chalk or silicone used in the manufacturing process bleeds out from the frame because of heat( Sun). Or to much is used during the manufacturing process. 0000 steel wool works and the blade. -

Cabot's SPF continued

It's really simple Ipe" is impervious to filming products. Two negative's do not equal a positive in this equation. A product that must stick to something that doesn't want to be stuckered( new word) will not work. My new favorite word is " beleaguered"- what people have done to their decks ( exotic wood ) is crazy man!!! They think I am a very expensive "Wood Guru" . This after being mislead by builders and paint stores who don't know any better. Why? Because they listen to Cabotage', Penifobia, and SiKKenology or Whoever..!! I am working on the Ten Commandment's of Exotic Wood now!! LOL ... On the third day " diamond jim" roze from under three coats of Sikkens,,,Hardy har har he... LOL Happy Easter!! Ken, I undrstand the process with TWP and developed my own way. There are many issues to contend with that are easily rectified not intended for world wide viewing.(WWV) Side note for hard woods in general> have you noticed that some boards different from the rest do not take a finsh well or at all? -
Scott I have worked 18 months in the last 36 months. The 4 years before that I was sick all the time. I lost a couple of a hundred thousand dollars easy. Not one missed paymant or bankrupt. Of those 18 months I did 20 grand a month. This year is the first year in 4 without surgery going into PC season. Survivial with a reputation is very difficult in our biz. So far so good. It pay's to have a great body and face !!! LOL , 5 fooot one 300 pounds. No pimples!! My profit is 2 more months of work and a bonus of one month!

Gazebo cedar shake nightmare
James replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
12 Foot Liddle Giant stepper and you can reach the top. Main problem is the crud between the shakes. You can bleach and a constant low pressure will do it. Just don't fart in the direction of those shakes after a couple of Heinies......LOL For oiling use Foster"s it come's in the oil can. LOL ABR or TWP 500 for oiling real thick stuff and allot....... Good day mate........> -

No filming finish can go on Ipe it doesn't work long term. Not even Aussy? I recieved 2 calls today from beleaguered mahog and Ipe people. 4th and 5th application of product............... I read an article years ago that said no filming product can be used on Ipe. Because of the natural oils will push it off and the wood has to breathe same with teak. Unless multi coats are used like boats. Not practical.... -
70 malibu smoked so much I drove it at night. I had a Saab 96 great car. My girl friend in highschool had an old " Fleetwood" Ya hoo!! It fit 8 people cumphy.

Deck Restoration - Latest
James replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
what kind of wood? looks good... -
Aussy Timber oil will not hold up to harsh climate's. I do ocean front stuff . Was there yesterday. I have a builder that stopped using it. It does not hold up and turns black. I counted 20 houses in a two mile stretch. Future strips jobs all Cabot's and Sikkens products. Go with a Ready Seal, TWP, ABR, Baker's Grey way. These products will out perform and are easier to maint.

I use to equate the opening of Baseball season with the opening of Pressure Cleaning season. I still do some what ? I use to be a baseball nut( I was pretty good) but free agency and Bondoid has soured my affection for the game ( PRO ). Diamond jim comes from guys calling me Jimmy Diamond ( as a picther) or just Diamond. It stuck!! Now I go places and people will say is that Diamond jim?? It's Kool!! My first ad's would reflect the opening of baseball season when I first stared out. Worked great!! Today the season started big time and no "shortstop" in site !!!!!

Ken give me a call this is a fine line in the industry. Hard woods are tricky with degradation. Cabots sucks from what I here doing anything for those who use their products. cell 203 558 0968 or now 203 754 4284. Till 8 55 . 24 is on after that, -

Wood that turns grey or lightens up being in the sun is considered dead wood fiber. Filmers will not adhere. Thats why all the Stain companies and Cedar Ass. say coat your wood very soon. Because of filming products. Not the case with penitrating oils. -
Washed a couple of houses over the weekend. ( ice on the deck). Sundays are good for the neighbors to come over and watch. Decks today and garage doors. Still in the low 30's here in the AM. But 60ty by noon.

All the products in this thread trap moisture in the wood. -
Stripping multiple layers of a solid stain
James replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
From photo and the way it came off doesn't seem like a solid stain. I agree with Deck Guy -
Mr Fife or Fithe. I just racked the last of this years RED wine. It has a stong Blackberry hint with a velvet flow. John the longer thread was lost............ pooooo
