Dale it's the best way to make a film last and not to let a product that has a drying oil penitrate to deep that you can't control it. Thats called restoration and knowing how to control your products. Controling the interior of the wood is the key to longevity. If you want durability creating a moisture barrier below a film gives longevity. If you want advise E- mail me !

Superdeck vs. WoodTux/ReadySeal
James replied to sturgisjr's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Super Glue- Don't use stuff that forms a film go with RS or TWP. When you get call backs its a easier. Super glue is wax with sticky stuff in it Even a product like wood tux it forms a film I think the jury is still out for recoating decks. Once you use it will it penitrate into the wood when recoating ? You have more trouble 5 years down the road with film products. I have no problems with redos and no complaints -
Would you walk away from a job?
James replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
They do it my way only and use my system of deckcare. Or they can have Joe deck filmer do it. I have decks that are ten years old that are mint. All customer's call back 98%.. THEY DO IT MY WAY !! ( I love Frank) I have more fun talking people out of what they thougth was good for the deck. And picture's of that product being stripped off. -
Little G is the best I have had one for more than ten years now- but it is not as simple as on TV- IT is not a week end TOOL------------------- !

Which Sealer(s) are you using this year?
James replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I'm pretty sure the people who have had problems with it were the problem If you keep jumping product to product. Or mis- understanding why it works and it's benifits. Or rookie's who didn't use enough product. People are the problem not the product. So the pole is correct ! I have ten years and just completed two cedar house restorations with it The most misunderstood part of woodcare in general. Is future maint. With RS it's easy, clean and re-apply. If you have any questions e- mail and I 'll call you. Also if you read were problems come from just read the rest of the post by that person then you can kinda figure out why there was a problem. -

Products with transoxides that have tung , linseed ,and other hardeners last longer at the surface. They do not preserve the wood better over time. The maint. coats don't penitrate the wood. More of a cosmedic fix. -
Warning Mahogany wood being Pre- coated
James posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I went to Quote a deck that was built in Nov. . I was refered and the people know my system. When I was taking measurements and it looked like a finish had failed on the wood. So I ask the home owner if a coating was put down.? He said no ! That's why you'er here. So I did a test spot anyway. It was coated. He called the builder and yes it was pre- coated with Super Deck. Then called the lumber company all the Mahogany they sell is pre- coated with super Deck. I asked why and who is this benifiting, They cut me off and could not answer my questions. He did say just recoat it with Super Deck! This is a major problem. The home owner didn't know the wood was coated. And if I didn't have a lot of mahogany Knowledge I would have made a big mistake. It say's on Super Decks lable for exotic woods it must season for 3 to 4 weeks. So I don't know what they are doing pre- coating the wood for. If wood isn't done correct the first time all finishes will fail in the future. I had to quote stripping a brand new deck!!! I'm not sure who's paying yet? But the builder and lumber guy are trying to paint me as jerk. I love this stuff !! -

James replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
If the roof has been sealed already it should be easy for cleaning and oiling. Find out what product most important. $1.50 a foot ? If the roof was sealed already Bleach and soap will be a easier and more efficent cleaning tool. -
E-male dis- function and Beth fixed it ? Must be Good ?

Nice Ipe porch and deck
James replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
very pretty ! I still hate that product though . I stripped two decks today with Aussy sap fluid. The mildew gets into the finish and turns black very difficult to solve. The decks had been done 3 times.
