For Woodkey's it's better to start with precarbs. A woodkey is a wood care rookie..... -

Russ ,I'm sorry but the bleach worked better- I'm not sorry for knowing how to use it- I use your products and they work fine- Making paper is a total different process than cleaning wood !! Bleach is an oxidizer . If you get control of it? It will just remove the weather wood easier than pre-carbs .. Happy wood cleaning........ -

You can use any solution you want as long as you know how to get results. You can get the same results using bleach. There is not much difference with all the pre-carb products on the market. Its a batch of white powder in a box. On a job I'm doing now (cedar restoration house ) I used Two different pre-carbs and bleach. Esi and Ready Seals no difference. Bleach worked better and won !!!! -
Ipe, cedar and PT...
James replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The problem with ipe- is first you can't put any product on it for about 6 months- if you do you'll have trouble for ever- If a product was put on right after it was built and has to be stripped, I would strip it and let it sit a couple of months and go back wash it and seal it. Letting it sit a couple months lets the wood open up and evens out absorbtion of product. -

That looks great- but that has to be a nightmare to do all the sharp edges- Did you do the light color first ? -

Your killing the wood that's already dead. Too many steps. After restore use the brightner. Don't let bleach dry on the wood ! Your sucking the life out of the wood with that many steps . Because these products are oxidizers (alkines) they effect the surface of the wood. -

TWP-penetrating, film forming or both?
James replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The first year I used it- On a new cedar deck -I did two coats- Thinking the second coat would penitrate I went home- It formed a thin skin- It looked great so I left it alone- Tne next year doing maint. was a little difficult and some areas the skin peeled up. -

The 1oo series to 500 series is the penitrating non filmers I think-- -
I have Police Officer's and hunters in my family- Laws are not intended for people who do it for sport or target shoot- DWI laws get tuffer every year. Do you want some guy next door to have 10 M-16 in his house. Who here would feel a negative effect of stricter gun laws ?

You can't regulate Responsiblity and hope for the best . But we can regulate weapons so they don't get in the hands of the irresponsible. Guns are made to kill cars are made to drive.

baquacil pool chems?
James replied to rocco's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I do about 5 pools with pressure treated wood around them- Stay away from the dark colors- Use a penitating oil that can be reapplied easily like Ready seal ,Twp, Abr- Film forming finishes are a paine and cause many problems around pools. These finishes start to fail and moisture gets trapped under the finish causing other issues. Also very difficult redo's. The penitrating oils are very easy to maint. without any of these problems. Really the pool water keeps the area clean on my decks. -
I joined the Pwna to have access to other's like myself. I like belonging to something. Education and seminars i would benifit the most from.
