Advice on stains (locally)
squirtgun replied to CCPC's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The Olympic Max holds up well.We have used it several times and all of the decks we restored 2 yrs ago with it still look great. For a big box store product it gets a thumbs up. -
Fun day at the Ball Park
squirtgun posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We spent a large part of the day working at the baseball field for the high school team. The bleachers, dugouts, storage sheds, sidewalks & concession stand are all being cleaned. The baseball booster club is givig everything a new paint job before baseball starts in Feb. The bleachers were built about 10yrs ago and have never been stained. The boosters will be staining the wood themselves, with me a phone call away for consultation. -
This link goes to a tribute for a local guy that was killed in Iraq. As I watched again today, I was thinking how lucky I was as a kid that my dad served 25 yrs in the Navy and came home safe after every deployment. Gus was a great guy and loved kids. While in Iraq he would ask family and friend to send him stuff animals to give to the kids over there. Turn up the speakers and be proud to be Americans, if it weren't for the guys/gals that fight and have fought for our freedom we wouldn't have the life we live today. http://www.peanut.org/gus/flash_detected.html

Fun day at the Ball Park
squirtgun replied to squirtgun's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
This was a paying job, although greatly discounted to help out the booster clubs budget. The athletic director referred us for this job.He also asked for a bid of the football stadium yesterday. It will be cleaned in stages to fit his budget and insure we are the company doing the work.Stages 1 & 2 of the football stadium will be about 30,000 sq ft of concrete, stages 3 & 4 are all aluminum bleacher with an equal amount of sq ft as the concrete. We alreay have the ad made up for the baseball programs. I don't chase deck, but if they chase me with the $$$ I want to do them,I'll be there. -

Shane, They are going with a clear on the seats because of the concern with color coming off on someones clothes. The local Porter paints dealer is donating the stain for the walls(not the stain I wanted them to use,but they are getting it free)it may be great stain, but I have never seen it on wood and it's not a product I'm familiar with. -
The rig is nice, but there is no room for expansion. Don,myself and others have built nice rigs (that are comparable in the same price range or less that have extra room to add equipment etc.) and the majority of the needed equipment to get started. Don has a great mind for laying out a rig (been trying to talk him into coming to Ga. for months to help re-do mine). Not that I can't do it,I just need someone to motivate me sometimes. I wanted to assemble our rig so if something broke, I knew how to fix it.It's time well spent on becoming familiar with your machine and the lay out that works most efficiently for you.

Try steam cleaing it before anything else.

Hey Beth,it does work both ways.If you noticed until I replied to Mathew's post above I never not one time mentioned anything about the PWNA and how it handles it's business. I did address the legitimacy comment, because I still hold to the belief being the member of ANY Org. doesn't mean the business is being operated to the letter of the law. Where exactly in this thread was the PWNA or it's members barraged with negativity from non-members?Was I involved and if so where in the thread did it happen?
-
So how does it stop.... the answer is easy. PWNA members stop the debate... no one can debate with you if you don't respond, It would be like arguing with yourself. As far as non-members vs non-members debating and bashing... HAve fun!! Mathew, As I recall this thread was about "What should an Org.(any Org.) do for you/your business".The first reply was from a PWNA member about the PWNA specifically, then a couple posts later the PWNA advisor for this BBS/PWNA BOD member brought it up again. So there must be members that wanted to fuel the debate by bring the PWNA into a non-related topic. I rarely see non-members bashing each other.I really don't see where that kind of comment comes into play. I know in the last month or so I have had my professionalism questioned because I expressed my opinions.I have seen in this thread at least one person who is apparently not being held to the same standard I was,but all is good.I am me and I won't sacrifice being honest to myself in an effort to save face for someone else.

To Bleach Or Not To Bleach???
squirtgun replied to jgoral76's question in Residential Pressure Washing
We have yet to get a call to wash a house without mold so chlorine is always a part of our house wash mix.Soap and water wash, you guys are so lucky.....:lgbounces -
Henry, It doesnt matter if you are BOD or not, your opinion is just that.I'm glad you had the testicular fortitude to step outside the box and voice what you believe to be true. The whole I'm a member of XYZ Org. and that makes my business more legit than others is a load of manure.Org. memberships are just another way to meet other business people, you take away from those encounters what you put into them and that particular Org.Nothing more, nothing less.
-
My point exactly Henry!!Orgs. are a marketing tool,we have all agreed on that more than once. They are places to network with other businesses and business people and possibly make some friends. They don't have anything to do with making your company being legit. P.S.Before I get attacked on my professionalism;please note I have in no way shape or form made reference to any Org. imparticular.

How does belonginig to any Org. give one legitimacy?

That season,I saw 3 snakes on the way to my hunting spot and had another slip by about 10ft from me while I was waiting for a turkey. When I started bow hunting about 8 yrs ago,I stepped on the head of a 6 1/2 ft rattle snake. It's amazing how calm you get when you know your next step could be your last.I calmly took an arrow from the quiver and pushed it through the snakes head.Once I knew I couldn't be bit,I became a bundle of nerves,I sat in the ground about 4 ft from the snake for over an hour before I was composed enough to walk back to my truck. The snake was 6 1/2 ft,13 rattles and weighed in at just under 24lbs.
-
I quit turkey hunting after the 1st season. You see, here in Ga. turkey season and rattle snake season start at the same time.Since I dont care for the snakes I decided I would leave my share of turkey in the woods for others. Rattle snakes are bad enough during bow season,no need to double my chances of getting bit by chasing birds.

Technique and Pricing Help Needed
squirtgun replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Lou, This is strictly my opinion and I'm sure other will chime in with theirs, but I would bid this as an entire house wash.Even if you wet the brick your chems will get on them requiring you to rinse every square inch. Most homeowners ask for the trim only wsh thinking it will save them money on the job. -
Would a tank like this work?
squirtgun replied to PowerPlay's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Nathan you can run it all of the vale if you can locate a 4-way connector.I had our tote plumbed with a T,but had a 4-way I was going to plumb it in and didn't get around to it before tha trade w/Roger & Celeste. The hardest past about installinga bung in teh tank is making it leak proof.I prefer teh bing that have a collar that threads on the back.I have seen them epoxied in and they seem to work fine. -
Used Recovery Equipment
squirtgun replied to Jeff Robison's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Jeff, The guy down here still the system you looked at for sale.I thnk it could be had for much less than you and he discussed before. Berms, oil booms and sump pumps can get the job done.Somewhere on the WWW Dave Olsen has posted pics of his berm, sump pump set-up that has worked great for him. -
Aplus has done some awesome work on awnings, may be if you ask him really nice he will share the info he came up with. We do 2 awning every 6 months using a kit the owner purchased,They are cleaner than they were when we started, but I think there has to be a better way that is less expensive.
