  1. Concerning PWNA

The largest problem I see with the BOD locking down the BBS is losing the potential to recruite new members. The BBS is where I first heard of the PWNA as I'm sure is the case with a lot of people. It's a bad choice and may be the one that causes the down fall of the BBS if not the entire Org. If the Org. does survive it shouldn't be promoted as the "Voice" of the industry since there are more non PWNA member companies than there are PWNA members companies. At best they should only be promoting it as a small group of like minded contractors that have a limited membership.Honestly there are country clubs with higher membership numbers. I won't apologise for questioning the Org. or it's motives.I have that right since they have and continue to claim they represent the entire industry. An industry that my company is a part of.
  2. Whats Up with the new look

Jon, If you use a mouse that has a scroll wheel....just hold down the Ctrl key and use the wheel on the mouse make the fonts larger or smaller.
  3. Be4 you approach that hottie acrossed the bar...

Ken, I'm with you on this.Who says we all have to be PC?This was funny and you shouldn't hav eto apologize for trying to have a little fun.
  4. My mind is in the Gutter

Sorry I should have mentioned you can buy it at most discount auto parts stores(Autozone,Pep boys and the like).I have never used gutterzap but have seen the RPC gutter shock used it does a great job also. The zap and shock are more pricey that the purple power
  5. My mind is in the Gutter

Mike, Gutterzap is a butyl based cleaner. The butyl breaks the electrostatic bond between the dirt and gutters.Purple power or Castroil Super Clean do the same thing because they to are butyl based and at a much cheaper price. You may have to lightly brush but there is no need to aggressively scrub.
  6. Newscrews in GA are such dorks!

Ryan, Don't feel bad it's no better in south Ga.We have been under a winter storm watch since last night. The DOT has trucks full of sand on stand by incase the ice on the road gets to bad.We have has some sleet but it melts as soon as it hits the ground. This pic is of the sleet that has built up on the kids trampoline.
  7. reels

Alan, They will put in a schedule 80 pvc core to handle the heat.If you order you need to specify for hot water machine use.
  8. indoor/outdoor carpet

What do you use Andy??? Down south chlorine or bleach are a huge help in the fight against mold and mildew. When mixed with the right surfactants it will leave a house exterior spotless.
  9. Coress Extension Wands

Ken, I have 24' black fiberglass/aluminum(F/A) pole.It weigh as much as a 36' coress I tried when I visited Steve Rowlett last year. The Coress is a lot more rigid when extended than a regular F/A extention there is only a few inches(4"-6") of flex with a Coress using a 3000 psi machine versus about 16" with a F/A wand using the same machine.I can't speak for durability since we don't own one,but I know a lot of guys that swear by them as their hands down favorite.
  10. whats the difference

I have pressure reels for both the HP hose and the feed line.It was easier that trying to find reels for 2 different PSI.Not to mention if something went wrong with the reel we have our pressure hose on,I can swap them out and hand coil the feed line until I get a replacement reel.
  11. reels

We have Cox reels and with the exception of some rust, peeling paint and one of the lock pins breaking they have been great. We will buy them again when we need more. Steven what kind of paint do you recommend to do touch up on the reels? We have the blue color.
  12. leather upper with a hard rubber lower. They are slip on boots.
  13. Georgia Boots makes a boot call Mud Dawgs. They are insulated and heavy but they will keep your feet dry.I have yet to find a leather boot that was water proof the rubber boots are your best bet.
  14. Wood Furring

I have yet to clean a deck that did not have some furring. I would wait to sand until the wood is dry.You may find that what you have already sanded may still have furring when or if you are going back to stain. It sounds like you did everything else properly.
  15. Orange Hooters awnings

Lance, A percarb will more than likely be the safest way to clean fabric awnings that have some age on them. Also, use caution with chlorine on older awnings, it has a nasty way of causing the stitching to fail prematurely. There is very little that can be done about the fading.
  16. I know what you mean Lance....I have been away since 1991 and Jax has grown alot since then, there isn't a lot I miss about the big city and all the traffic. My parents live there still and that's the only reason I still visit.I know CJ's and Papa's are closed now and TBirds at the Landing as well.I work security at all of them in the late 80's and early 90's in the days before kids and family responsiblities.
  17. Lance, Do you remeber Papa's on Beach Blvd in Jax or TBirds at the Landing or Baymeadows?Maybe CJ's on Arlington Expressway? Barbacks help bartender keep the bar stocked during the night.
  18. 8yrs building passenger tires for a Tire and Rubber company.Prior to that I was skilled tradesman in the cabinet & furniture building industry.Night club security before I learned furniture and cabinets.
  19. Having a Roundtable

Mike we are hosting our with a vendor(Steven Rowlett) so if you have a good relationship with a vendor and don't mind them making some sales then by all means include them.A vendor can help attendance if they are well know within the industry or at the very least the region you are hosting a meeting in. I posted on all of the PWing BBS about the meeting with hotel details and specifics for the lunch.Traditionally R/T meeting are held on Feb and Oct but, I think anytime you can get othes to get together to exchange info and ideas it's a good time. I found the hotel and arranged the rate for the meeting on Feb 5th here in SWGA.I will also make sure that Hooters has enough room to accomidate the group and I have reserved a place close by for us all to meet.Actual cost to us for hosting will be $25 for the meeting hall. In the next week or so I will be mailing out invites to the local competition. This will give them a chance to see what is going on in other parts of the country(we will have people from AL,LA,GA,TN,FL, and maybe NY,PA and CT)as well as to meet me.Without getting to specific with them on pricing(don't want to be accused of price fixing) I to make them realize that lowballing prices hurts us all. Also,I want then to see what they are up against, and how important it is to stay on top of the latest trend within the industry.I would rather consider them friends than competition and if they need help or I need help we can have a working realtionship.
  20. rates per hr

We shoot for $150 minimum an hour but there are 2 of us working. That's $75 per hour per person.
  21. We don't have any yet Shane but they are worth the money from what other have told me.When I run out of the brass we will switch over to SS.
  22. Shane, Water Cannon has very fair prices on their SS. http://www.replacementpumps.com/
  23. Mr.Clean Magic Eraser(the original).I use it often when I do car details for removing black marks like you mentioned. It also works great for small surface scratches on the paint, just don't rub to hard.
