We have made some good friends since we went full time in this industry a year ago Oct.Among those friends are Roger & Celeste Gothorp(Carolina Pro Wash),whom we had the chance to meet face to face for the first time this weekend. A short time back Angela and I cleaned a driveway that turned into a huge nightmare.I discounted the price, then dropped it more when the customer started to haggle with me.Of course this 3 hour job turned into a 7 hour job. While on the job our 16" surface cleaner started acting up and we blew the ends off of 2-100" pressure hoses.Finacially we have had it super slow this year and have struggled to make ends meet .Buying a new surface cleaner just isn't in the budget,at least the hoses were repairable. Roger and Celeste called and offered us a 30" adjustable steel eagle that needed some work if we wanted it.Then a few nights later Roger and I were talking when I mentioned I was looking for a 225 gallon leg tank.He then offered us a 225 leg tank in addition to the surface cleaner. He then said they would even deliver it to S.Georgia. They came down Fri(they got in about 1:15am) and we had a great time hanging out with them Sat. while Roger and I plumbed the new tank. Our kids spent all day Sat. playing and they attended our churches fall festival with us. There is no way to ever express how thankful we are to Roger and Celeste for their generousity. Not only did they give us the tank and Steel eagle they also drove 8 hrs to bring it to us and asked for nothing in return.Roger told me "If the good people don't take care of the good people,no one will." Truer words have never been spoken. Thanks so much Roger and Celeste>

Question for you wood pros
squirtgun replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We would be in the $550 range.A bid of $995 on a deck that size would cause a customer in our area to pass out. -
This a picture of my 5 yr old son on the velcro wall at the fall festival that we attended while Roger and Celeste were visiting.I think every parent should have a wall like this and a few of these suites in their home.

Ryan, The customer is just a rich tight wad and I should have never let talk me into lowering the price. The concrete had been previously cleaned with acid and was etched so severly it was barely coming clean with the 16" surface cleaner(the seals are shot and it's just not preforming well anymore)we cleaned the vast majority of teh driveway with a wand.Concrete that is etched badly doesn't seem to clean well with surface cleaner. Thanks for the offer on the totes ,but I let Roger have the 300 gallon we had on the trailer.

Citric Acid
squirtgun replied to CCHSNC's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Robert, I think Tony of A-Plus uses Citric Acid exclusively.Hopefully he will hcime in but,I do think the end result is the same as what you achieve with Oxalic. -
The Pentagon announced today the formation of an elite fighting group called the U.S. Redneck Special Forces (U.S.R.S.F.). These Georgia boys, Bubba, Hoss, Cooter, and Bo will be dropped behind enemy lines with the following information about the Iraqi terrorists: 1. The season opened last weekend. 2. There is no limit. 3. They taste just like chicken. 4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music, Jeff Foxworthy, or Jesus. 5. They disrespect their women 6. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt. The war should be over in a week

Types of Cleaning Products!!
squirtgun replied to randyh56's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Randy, The lowest cost chemical for cleaning roofs is 12% chlorine(diluted to betweem 4%-7%) with some kind of soap mixed in and applied at low pressure. There are several sodium hydroxide based cleaner that will do a great job as well. We prefer to buy chemcials that homeowners can not buy, they come in stronger concentrations thus allowing you to control the mix on a per job. -
Concerning the use of Bleach?
squirtgun replied to randyh56's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Randy, The cost of Clorox Outdoor bleach is prohibitive for us.We buy 12% chlorine and dilute to the strength we need.Usually between 4% - 12% depending on which application we are using it for.Check with a pool supple store for 12% chlorine prices. -
The color should been consistant throughtout the brick.I doubt it's just a coating unless it was painted or stained. There is a green brick house one street over from us and it is ugly.

Rick Hendrick the NASCAR owner lost his son, brother and 2 nieces,as well as,6 other people in a plane crash today.

Bill3752, You are correct formaldehyde is one of the products used in cleaning hog barns. There are several more including chlorine as I mentioned before. My understanding is it takes several products to get a desirable result.

How old is this thing
squirtgun replied to Mathew Johnson's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Does it come with a team of dinosaurs to pull it?It's old, cool looking ,but old. -
This is a house we are submitting a bid for window washing on.The wall is 12' and you have to be let in the gate. It's funny how poor people act after they get rich. The pool house is larger than the house Angela and I live in.
-
This is the pool house. All of the wood siding(house and pool house) came from old tobacco barns that had been torn down.
-
Some recent tile roofs.....
squirtgun replied to K.J. Pressure Washing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I have some pic I'll post of the local Ft.Knox.All of the siding on the house and pool house(pool house is bigger than the house we live in) came from old tobacco barns.I would love the chance at cleaning and sealing all the wood, but they'll never do it.We are bidding on some window washing and it'll be interesting to see if these people will pay the price. -
Don, If I didn't want to find the link it would show up in my search 1000 times, but tonight I can't seem to find it.Give your county extention agent(can you tell we live in the country....lol) a call they should be able to give you the run down on what is involved, as well as,what PPE's and chemicals are needed. My nephews show market hogs with 4H maybe one of them will have some info on the topic.
-
Don, I have actually read somewhere online about the process used to clean hog barns. It is very detailed including use of respirators and protective suits. As best I remember chlorine is the product off choice for disinfecting after removing the heavier waste. Give me a little while and I'll post a link to the website.

What do you think of this Rig deal on Ebay?
squirtgun replied to Lou Beach's question in The Club House
Lou, I missed the hours somehow.Yes, in my opinion that many hours is high for the price they are asking.Even if the machine has been well maintained that is a lot of hours.Keep looking, you should be able to find one with less than 200 hours. -
What do you think of this Rig deal on Ebay?
squirtgun replied to Lou Beach's question in The Club House
Lou, Here is a rig that would be a good buy if all is in working order. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46536&item=3844608219&rd=1 -
Matt, Are you using about the same amount of chemicals or has there been an increase with the inline pump? Also,if you can please post some pics of this set-up.so everyone can get a better idea of what it should look like.
