  1. Crayola Cryons

Lets not forget bruise blue and bloodshot eyes red.
  2. Crayola Cryons

Oh finally a contest I can get into......how about sinus drip green or burnt flesh black. Dale you came up with this one just for me didn't you?
  3. Bees?

Beth, It sounds like Rod needs to get an epi-pen,if he doesn't have one already. If not a trip to the ear, nose and throat doc would be in order to determine his exact allergy so they can give him the correct meds.Epi-pens can save the life of someone with severe allergic reations.
  4. question???

On the old format weren't we able to view public profiles?I think this is also how I used to PM other members(by view their profile). I know some BBS have features blocked.I can see a reason for that if the PM feature is being abused or if someone is harvesting emails etc.
  5. question???

Thanks Alan...the problem I found with that is if the member isn't online,I have to search for an old post to do any of the things you mentioned. If they are a lurker and not a poster there is basically no way to send a message to someone.
  6. Acid and Bleach on same vehicle

Celeste, Call DOT and ask without giving the company name.Matter of fact tell them you are trying to get started in the business and were told this was a not allowed and wanted to have all the info before you did something you shouldn't.Not mentioning the company name is not being dishonest,it's just a little smoke and mirrors.....LOL.
  7. residential prices

Ken, Calling someone a "Low Baller" is not a good way to keep this professional. Please keep in mind that you would not like that reference made about you.Now back to the question at hand if nobody minds. Eric, Dale is correct $1 a linear ft is a good starting point,in time you will be able to do as some of the more seasoned contractors, and estimate housewashing by what they look like when you pull up to the house.Good Luck.
  8. SHURflo setup for roofs

Mike, What diameter PVC pipe?Phelps gave me the specs on this thing once before but I have lost them.
  9. Oxalic

Lance, Try a chemcal supply company. There should be plenty around O.P or Jax.I would suggest calling around for prices.I found a price range from $1.75 to $5.00 a pound around here.
  10. What Size ShurFlo

Ryan, The application is roof cleaning. May of the guys in Fl. use a shur-flo type pump set up to put chemicals on roofs.200' seems to be the average amount most of the guys have on the rigs for roofs.
  11. Bad mildew on brick patio

We see that a lot.Homeowners are always amazed that the bricks are still under all that stuff.
  12. Lance, I was wondering if that was the Buckman bridge in the background,it's been years since I have been over to that area.
  13. Lance, Call DNR to find out what chemicals they will and will not allow around the water. Judging by the size of the dock and decks,I would imagine the customer won't mind to have the job done right. If you aren't sure you can handle a wood job this big walk away. Also, underbidding will hurt your wallet, and leave a bad taste in your mouth for this kind of restoration. What part of Jax. is this located in?
  14. Did You Know? Tile & Grout Issues

Matt, If you are using a cold water machine with a wand inside a kitchen area, you'll be making a bigger mess than your cleaning,Hot water is a must, cold just doesn't cut through the grease film that builds up on restaurant floors. You could try a degreaser and a cold water wash, but I'm not sure it would be as effective as hot water. We use a 16" hover type surface cleaner,it work great in the tight areas like kitchens. Bidding will run between $.10 and $.25 a sq ft. This is an add on service for us,so we generally $125 to $200(depending on kitchen size)
  15. Did You Know? Tile & Grout Issues

Matt, We just came in from cleaning the floor inside a McDonalds(from the front counter to the back door)180 degree hot water was all that we needed to get the floor and grout clean. They have their people stay late to help push the excess water to drains and mop. Remember fastfood places work on a tight budget,so cleaning may be all they are willing to do.They will often do this type cleaning when they have an inspection of some sort coming up(as was the case with the one we just cleaned)if you can sell them on the grout sealing go for it.
  16. These some pics of the hose reel I mounted on our hand cart for our Xjet. The drum is 30 gallons but we never mix more that a 15 gallons at a time, because of the weight.50ft of 3/8" hose, the shut-off valve is set back about 10ft from the Xjet. The only draw back to running the chemicals through the elbow on the reel is it will rust,I'm working on a modification that will fix the problem, and will share it when I'm finished.
  17. Xjet set up..

I posted so other could use the idea.I iwsh i could take credit for it but many other have done this long before we did.The clear only runs from the elbow on the hose reel to the strainer. The rest is 3/8" braided line.
  18. x-jet in the trash

Mike, You are correct it is around 2 minutes,I was in a hurry earlier when I typed that and wasn't thinking at the same speed I was typing.1:1 ratio would be awesome.
  19. x-jet in the trash

How fast you use chemicals will depend on the GPM of your machine. Our machine is 5.2gpm so a 5 gallon bucket will empty in just about 1 minute of non stop use.For most houses we wash(approx.1800 - 2000 sq.ft) we mix 15 gallons of housewash. The drum is empty when we are finished. We use our xjet for applying housewash, sodium hydroxide, oxalic and also chlorine.
  20. x-jet in the trash

The Xjet QC's to the end of your wand(where your tip usually goes)water is the power source that makes the Xjet work.as water passes through the Xjet it creates suction that draws the chemical from you tank, bucket or drum into the Xjet also. Take a look in the equipment section I have posted pics of our Xjet set up.Take a look.I hope this explaination helps. If not check out this website http://www.xterior.com/html/x-jet.html ,these are the folks that invented the Xjet, they have a few picture that show some of what it does.
  21. Show off your setup!

This is a pic of our trailer. It's simple but effective.
  22. x-jet in the trash

The Xjet would fit perfectly with the shurflo set up you have now.We a 30gal drum on a hand cart with a small hose reel mounted to the cart for our Xjet.We use 50ft of hose. I'll get a pic of it and post it.
  23. x-jet in the trash

Carlos, www.rowlettpressure.com. drum kits are the most cost effective way to order.Yes we also use it and I have to say it does a great job.The best soap we have used. I think Mike types a little faster tha I do.
  24. x-jet in the trash

Nathan, I have to agree with Rick,If you aren't using bleach(pool shock) what are you using to kill the mold and mildew? Is it some form of mildewcide?I would also like to know the name of the product. You say 2500 psi to clean siding.Do you think with that much pressure you're not force any water under or around siding? Also at 2500psi,even in a fan pattern, you stand the chance of blowing out the seals around windows. I can't imagine ever having a customer tell us they are afraid to have there home cleaned because we use some chlorine in our housewash.Bottom line is they want the mold and mildew removed and could care less how it's done.Lance is correct when he state that the chems are only as unsafe as the contractor using them.
  25. X-Jet or Shur-flo

I would get the Xjet first,it will pull chemicals at whatever the gpm's of your machine are. They both have there place, but for housewashes I would invest in the Xjet beofre a shur-flo.Remember with an Xjet you can apply and rinse with it.The shur-flo give you more equipment to move around.
