We were on a job tonight when I walked out to find the machine was not by passing water back to the tank.I shut everything down and started running through the filters, connections ect to find out why and came up with nothing obvious. Could the unloader have gone bad? Hurry up guys I need answers NOW,I have a job to complete tomorrow night and it's a 2 hour drive to a new unloader.

Yes. There is a hose barb inside the tank. That's where the offending hose is attached.I installed it because the by pass dump directly over the intake and on ocassion it was causing cavitation.I would have never guess the pump would suck the hose across the tank like that. Since re-routing the hose that's inside the tank it shouldn't happen again.

Just to ease everyones mind. I ran the machine this afternoon and watch the hose get pulled across the tank bottom to the machine feed.I re-routed the hose to prevent this from happening again. We cleaned a McD's tonight without incident.

And all the bleeding heart liberals will be laughing all the way to the bank when the administration starts drawing down the troop number's.War stimulates the economy. You won't hear a bad word about the war when they are riding on the money train to the bank. I'm so sick of hearing the whining about the war in Iraq. After 9/11 (not 911 that's the emergency number)the same bleeding hearts demanded action against terror.Bush took the fight to them and because wars cost money and lives now they want out.No one forced any soldier to enlist they do it voluntarily with pride and honor. They were also fully aware that they could go to war and could die and they still enlisted.

From the time I realized there was no pressure until shut down was about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.I checked out everything this morning and have found no visible damage to the pump head and it's not leaking water. It's still putting out full pressure and the unloader is working fine. It was just a fluke that the hose got sucked into the feed to the machine. It basically created an air lock that was only allowing a bare minimum of water through the system. The instant I realized the pressure had dropped I ran and shut everything down.I believe that is what saved us from having any serious damage.

No leaks at the pump head, hoses, filters or any connections. That's why I was so perplexed when it happened.I knew the water should be going somewhere. Went out this morning and everything is working perfectly.I talked with Bob and we think the the hose that runs to the bottom of the tank from the unloader may have been sucked into the feed to the machine causing it to trap air in the system. I'll be cutting about 12" off the hose before tonights jobs.

It isn't the commission that motivates them, I hear tell of a PWing dungeon they are all afraid of.I don't know anyone that wants to be beat with a piece of 4500psi double braid hose.Jarrod you are such a bully..........lol -
Russ knows his stuff. My personal favorite is having him diagnose my machine problems over the phone. By the way Russ if I haven't told you lately. THANKS

The 2 cox reels we have do the job,but there have been problems. The powder coat started to fail with in 3 months(peeling in large sheet from the spool sides).Brake straps broke in the same time frame and 1 of the locks broke at about the 1 year mark.2 year mark one of the plastic handles froze and no longer spins on the bolt. I tried to get the company I purchased them from to make good on them when they were 3 months old and was basically told too bad because they were used at that point and they nor Cox would do anything about it.At $180 each I would have imagined that one or both companies would have stood behind the product. I finally just cleaned the rust in the areas where the powder coat failed and painted them.Band aid for a bigger problem, but they looked better for a while. When I buy new reels,Cox won't be in the running.

JohnT, It's those who will (and I say "WILL" because it's going to happen) bid everything they do at $.01 sq ft because of their equipment. It lowers the standard for everyone and it will give property owners a false expectation that all companies should match those prices.
-
I'm glad someone else see it my way.
-
It isn't just about water freezing on the ground, but in the equipment or tanks bewteen job sites. I do have a question for those with all of the latest bell and whistles in vac recovery and water re-use.I keep hearing how much faster,efficient... blah...blah...blah so "I don't have to charge a premium price." How exactly do you figure you shouldn't charge what the job is worth?

The attacks involved chlorine gas not shc.I don't see them making strong regs on it since those attacks didn't happen on US soil. Think of the chems we buy regularly that you can make a bomb with that aren't regulated. There are a handful under every kitchen sink in America that will make a bomb strong enough to kill or mame anyone in a 10ft radius.
-
Ed, At $.10 per sq ft you might see their eyes glaze over.On that large a job most would bid around $.06 per sq ft and still come away with a nice wad of $$$.

Kevin, I need a copy of your residential contract.I want something that iron clad that shows the homeowners signed off and agreed to the deposit and cancellation fees.We no longer actively pursue wood restoration, but I have come to the point with cancellations and whining HO's that I need to get something more solid.

Please welcome Jarrod - New Forum Leader!
squirtgun replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Not to worry Jarrod with the new posting rules I can't be me anymore. That being the case it will limit how much and often I'll be posting. It's really a shame that we can no longer come here and debate any and everything about our industry because a few people are so very sensitive.Through no fault if their own Beth and Rod have had to make things restrictive and that just plain sucks. -
Hugh, I talked with them a few years ago.At the time they were under a 3 yrs contract. The maintenance manager I spoke with at that time was very down on mom & pop businesses, claiming they had nothing but truoble with them..lol.After I saw the guys do teh store here I knew they would be out looking for mom & pop again. Good luck with them.

I'm trying to get away from the 30 day net. They get 15 days now and with late charges added if payment isn't received on time. I'm fed up with financing their business and then they don't even have the courtesy to pay on time. I wonder how they would react if I order a steak dinner and drinks, then when the bill comes I tell them "I'll pay you in 30 days, but I might lose the bill,so just to be safe wait at least 45 days before you call to collect."

I thought the same thing. That must mean we both have a guilty conscience ANT.

We have always tried to address direct mail to the actual person.I think current resident addressed mail usually goes unread. I like the idea of "To our neighbors" it lends some sincerity and a perosnal touch. I have seem some mailer that were addressed both in the home owners name and current resident.
