  4. Need Help

Thanks to everyone who responded. As to what I used - gutter zap on the gutters and blend of sh andC-86(potassium Hydroxide based) to wash the house. As to why she waited 2 months I'm clueless. This is a repeat customer who lives in an over 55 community.(they are very old) I know if she would have called in a couple of days I would have not had a problem getting it off.

  13. Pavers

Pollen had coved newly installed pavers, so the home owner applied Zep driveway and concrete cleaner and Zinsser's Jomax mildew killer through his power washer. It left a efflorescence; I trhink. The pavers are gray - now they have a white cloudly look. Today I tried cleaning them with my standard cleaner which is a potassium hydroxide based cleaner. Result not so good. Some pavers look sthe same , other have a white outline on the face of the pavers that is in the shape of a playing card. Any advice on how to improve the appearance of these pavers?
  14. vinyl fence pricing

I could use some help in pricing a vinyl fence. The fence is 5 foot high and is not a solid fence. I has 4 rails only between post. Each section is 8 foot wide and there is over 4000 linear feet total. My customer wants to have the job broken down into section and would consider cleaning every 6 months to keet the mold/mildew off . Since its runs along the propery it is very long. Some of the fence however is horse and live stock corrals. I was wondering if anyone had any experience in pricing this type of job or how much I should charge per section. Thanks

  16. A few weeks ago we applied Cabot's timber oil on a deck that was cleaned and neutralized. Unfortunately it rained 3 hours later. Do to the rain and high humidity the deck never dried properly. We then stripped the deck twice to remove the new finish and neutralized the wood. When dry we sanded and did a water test. The water did not penetrate. Here lies the problem. What do we do to open the pores of the wood to allow the new finish to penetrate?
  17. rain on a newly stained deck

Seymore, the wood is pressure treated and about 10-14 years old. It iver a week old and the wood was still not dry. We stripped it because after it dried it was blotty wear the stain did not penetrate. Would you use a light mixture(3/1) of bleach to open the pores? Also, someone mentioned an acetone treatment? I do not know what that is, do you?
  18. I understand that Penofine has a product to stain Trex decks. I was wondering if any of you actually stained a trex deck. If so, how did it come out? Any pro's con's problems, etc.. Would you or do you sell sealing of trex decks? Are there any other products out there for sealing trex? P.S. how long did the product last? One coat application? Thanks everyone.

  20. Quad for snow removal?

  21. I've been asked to quote on restaining wooden booth of a restaurant. I'm not sure what the right steps would be in completing this project . First, the overall condition is good with the exception of where people sit. That area lacks stain and is lighter looking than the rest of the wood. The wood is very smooth which tells me there is a poly, varnish, lacquer or shellac over the top. I don't know how to tell the difference. Can I get away with sanding and then applying a new finish? Or do I have to strip the finish off and then reapply the new stain? I,m worried because it's inside and I have to worry about the cushions , floor and other surrounding that could protentially damaged. I don't think its practical to pressure wash in this setting. Jumping ahead, if I get to this point what do I put over the top of the stain and how many coats?

  24. olympic stains

Has anyone used olympic maximum stain? I'm interested in knowing how you liked or disliked it. Has it held up very well? I would like pro and cons. Thanks
  25. larger decks

Yes I did a bid on a redwood deck that was over 2500 square feet. I was going to clean , neutralize and stain the deck. Two coats of Penofin ( customer supplied). When I gave him my quote be basically threw me out saying I was way to high. He then stated all other quuotes he received were under 1,000 dollars. I think that's too low.
