  1. Whats the best tool for underwater work

I tried barnacle removal underwater with 3000 psi. It was slow and I still needed a tool like an floor scraper to get through the worst of it. Sharpen the edge of it first!!! I now have a 5000 psi pump. It works well with a roto style nozzle. It will tear through oysters and barnacles like nobodys business. Still, small slivers of barnacle can be found after washing. Im afraid to go point blank with the nozzle on the boat so Ill use a blade to remove. Perish the thought of being able to see underwater while removing barnacles. Its nice to have a little current to clear the debris.
  2. Anybody come across this?

Hey Don, Janitorial supply stores carry small bottles of liquid (or powder) de-foamer that carpet cleaners use. It works fast and doesnt take much. Might be nice to have next time.
  3. concrete sealing job

Im sure you are through with the job already but here are my two cents for the forum.... You dont need to etch a driveway unless it is slick or shiny for some reason. . If you are using the zylene based sealer, you will need probably 3 good coats to get it to cover good because it is so thin. You will use double what you would use in paint. It bonds really well. H&C (zylene based) holds up good to the worst culprit. Hot tires... H&C also offers a water based concrete stain. I wouldnt suggest that for car traffic.
  4. My surface cleaners are leaving stripes ?

tips wear out pretty fast so start on the smaller side. I should replace mine more often. It keeps your pressure up. 15 vs 25?? I guess a faster spin would use a lesser degree tip. You are 4 gpm so use 2 and not 3. If you are using really long hoses or your pump is worn a bit and doesnt produce the gpm at spec. you can go a bit smaller than 2. The scrubber will feel a lot stronger and will cut better. Maybe buy three or four sets and test them. I am assuming you have a two tip setup on your scrubber.
  5. My surface cleaners are leaving stripes ?

Try spraying straight bleach mist or chlorine onto the wet drive as soon as you rinse. The streaks will disappear and the drive will look much brighter. Sometimes here in Florida the mold under oak trees is so thick that it gets deeper into the concrete and stains it so that pressurewashing alone wont get it all up. Even pre-spraying with a bleach solution prior to cleaning wont always work, but it certainly helps and I pre spray all my drives. Roof rigs are ideal to have in these cases since chlorine eats cheap pump ups, but a pump up is better than nothing.
