  1. Well put Scott.

Most of the failures that I have seen over the years is due to the inability to understand the overall business operation and the expectations that you can take off whenever you feel because your the business owner. This business is definitely a 24-7 lifestyle.

Definitly 24/7 for sure. I have my biz in my thoughts at every turn, when I go to sleep and I enjoy working it all the time. I love this biz and its a joy to watch it grow. I set goal and before i reach them, I'm setting new goals.

Everything in life is what you put into it. These BB's are such a great source and anyone who thinks they can just sit back and watch it grow, is wrong,YOUmake it grow

I have a lot of business inabilities, but I work at them and I figure how to make up for some of my inabilities in other ways

    I love the PWing BIZ

  2. Hey everyone

Happy Thanksgiving... I am just starting in this industry and have been talking with a contractor in my area about doing some sub-contracting work.

What kind of percentage of a contract do you pay your sub-contractors - during initial talks he has mentioned paying me 25 -35% of the contract. This appears to be low, I would have thought that this figure should be his percentage and the lions share come to me for doing the work on my time, with my equipment. Please correct me if I am wrong as I am new to this industry.

My prior experience in the UK and in Swimming Pool Service & Maintenance had led me to believe that when I have someone else do the work, I am freed up to pursue more business while still making money and not getting my hands dirty.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Regards

    Steven

Stay away from this contractor!!!!!! If he's trying to screw you with the percentages mentioned, he'll probably try to screw you at payment time also

    Move on

    Jeff

  3. I missed part of the talk, but what I did get is his box truck burned and it also I think burnt part of a house he owned and since it was his own house insurance didn't cover everything and the truck was only partially covered. He had to fight for a couple months to get the payoff up from 13? to I think it was 23K

I know with my insurance the actual trailers are covered under my commercial auto , but not the equipment. I had to get a separate Marine Policy and list all equipment/ I also have to list the zip code where my trucks & trailers are stored, which is a PITA since I sometimes have some of my trucks at my house or at the shop and you can only list one zip code, some zip codes are more expensive than others. Don't assume that you are totally covered on everything, the insurance companies are always looking for a way to short change you. I have a 3 million umbrella policy on my house ( its cheap less $200 a year) it covers a lot that my HO insurance covers like larger lawsuits its also why I am Incorporated, that also gives me some protection

He also had to get Hazmat clean up and it did not cover the hazmat cleanup/ I'm sure someone will chime in on the parts I missed

  4. I

  5. You are all a bunch of cry babies. The Republican President and Republican congress have done nothing but good things these past 6-8 years. JUST ASK THEM

Its all those liberal Democrats (you know the ones that had no power the past 6-8 years) That are making the economy bad

Oh so what a little lead paint and no good jobs for Americans, wont kill anybody.

  6. Well pressure washing may be going down the tubes here in GA so I have started looking for painting work again. Started a job today. Painting doesn't pay what I get for power washing but you do what you got to do. The job today went well. Nice customer. Bills paid this month. Gotta take it a day at a time.

Bills paid, thats a good month. Good luck to you all

    Jeff

  7. Whenever I see one of those small Christmas trees for an apartment I think "Thats a Charlie Brown tree". I too, am an old head and remember being excited coming home from school because the Charlie Brown special was on that night.

I too remember the excitement of it, those were the days and now they are classics. Oh for a simpler life for our children

I have been getting DVDs, of Casper The Ghost, Tom & Jerry and some real old ones for my boy and he likes them all.

  10. although i hate to enter political or religious conversations, here we go...

on the contrary, i believe the democratic party is so smug about Bush and his two terms, that they think they can put anyone into office. (just look at the candidates) all of this without addressing american's biggest concerns.

they are running against Bush and the Republicans instead of running with their own (and America's) ideas to make a real, positive change in office.

i am not dumb enough to think that it will be an easy race, but i think Democrats are kidding themselves with the 'leaders' they have put out to run. republicans will need a little 'luck' with the image that Bush has put out (with the added help of the liberal media), but it WILL NOT be a landslide by any means.

I have to agree with you on a lot of what you said, the only other side of it, is the republicans aren't putting out any real winners. I really think it has a lot to do with the sense that theres no good choices on either side, so anything is good as long as it is change

As a Dem, I will tell you one thing. a lot of it has to do with Bush, YES, but not just because its Bush, Its because many really just find him to be the wrong man to be president. I knew of Bush before he was president and I didn't like many of his views or just how he came across. We (democrats) never really believed he was an honest Conservative and the combination of Bush and a republican congress who basically told all democratic congress just to get out of the way and shut up, made many mad. When you alienate all the Democratic elected officials , you also alienate the people who elected them . US the 50% of the country of democrats, once Bush won and after 911, he told us all he is going to spend his political capital and no matter what the 50% of us wanted or said really mattered

This is why I would love to just see a President that could bring us together more. It will never be perfect, I would just like an improvement

  11. How about them Pats 52-7 we skin the skins....Let go RED SOX ONE MORE GAME AND WE TAKE IT HOME AGAIN

What part of up North are you from?

Grew up and lived much of my life 15 minutes just south of Boston in Randolph

WOW Patriots & Get it done SOX

  12. With out this BB and some of the others I have been able to grow, beyond my wildest dreams and I can attribute it directly to these BB's.

I have liked TGS the most, because I have learned the most here. I also have to say Steve Rowletts BB TCN was a great help in the beginning as Steve was too.

PT State is new but offers a lot too. Bob has helped me a great deal, just being there to answer questions for me

***, I have just recently been visiting it a lot more and it helps on the commercial side of work. Ron has been a great source for ideas, thoughts and a positive source for learning too

Good luck with your business and enjoy your growth

    Jeff

  14. I get a kick out of talking to people about politics. I get a real kick out of listening to people whine and complain about our government, and all the evils of Bush. Then I ask them- did you vote? I should be amazed at how many say the don't vote, but I'm not. The biggest complainers are usually the ones who dont even vote.

    What about you?

See you are wrong again my neo nazi republican friend. I am the biggest complainer about the evils of Bush and .............I VOTE

Its a crying shame that many, most people arent informed on current events and dont have a clue as to whats going on in their own backyard. I've met & known thousands of people and the vast majority dont vote, its because they have no clue, dont care and are just plain lazy. I dont care about your views, get involved enough to vote at least

Can you imagine if we could get 75% or more of our voting age public to vote and care. I bet a lot of the bums we call congressmen & women , would start to do what the people put them there for.

Its a shame what % of voting age people actually vote 20-30%??

  15. I guess you overlooked the part where I said the Dems were no better.

He didnt over look it, he chose to ignore it. That Jon guy watch out for him, he's trouble

Jons going to get his someday. He's going to punch the wrong ticket in 2008 elections and not realize it until it's to late. His one wrong wote is going to put Hitlerry clinton in the White house, then he's going to have a heart attack yelling its a hanging chad, I want a recount. Jon stay home in 2008 election, I dont want you to get sick WHEN THE DEMS WIN THE WHITEHOUSE & THE MAJORITY IN THE CONGRESS:lgwave:
