for those of you who started your business part time
4000psi replied to drod17's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Welcome, There have been alot of newbies wanting to start up now. The same question has been asked alot recently. Search around a bit. Take care man. Also, fill out your signature so people will know who you are. Thanks, Dane -
I thought about doing the pre printed proposals but I like having my own custom sheet with my logo. Sometimes little things like that set you apart. I apreciate all your input, I think I will just add a total and forget the extras. The reason I had the % box was because I have so manny military clients who get my military discount. But like you said I can just write that on the side. Andrew i'll send you a copy if you like. pm me your email.

I was walking around this house we did today to find a pile of trash against the deck. Nasty!! It was unique house at that too. check out the back. It looks like a regular one and a half story house from the front.

I pay more for good customer service, support and availability. I found a supplier for all my needs about an hr away. They are not cheap but they have everything I need. They have been most helpfull in me and guiding me with products and equipment. I have also found that if you are loyal and they know they got your business they begin to give you breaks and favors. Thats what im looking for.

My first estimates were so confusing. I had check boxes for every type of cleaning. This way I can customize and list every thing that applies to them in particular without having to sift through the other stuff. I like the message too cleanrx. Cleanrx (before you get hounded by the admins you might fill out your signature. thanks man.)

A buddy of mine, who pws part time, has had his direct drive cat pump for 18 yrs now. That thing still runs like a champ. The funny thing is the pump is about twice the size as they come now.

Whats ur deal with the Dirfect vs. belt? I got a direct and it does great on concrete.
-
What do you got?

Any unit at HD or Lowes won't cut it. If your looking for something cheaper but will last you longer. I started with a unit from Northern Tool. norht star 13hp 3.5gpm 4000psi. Now I run a 5.2gpw @ 3000psi. Big Difference. If you can, pay more and get a better pump. Somthing with at least 5gpm and 3000-3500psi. Go online to www.pressuretek.com look at his PWers. Check out the other vendors as well who are on TGS. Some people are going out of biz and are selling their trailer units. Craigslist, and on this forum the bargain basment. If you ask me don't waste your $$ on cheap equipment. Its a waste of your time and $$. Dane

I got a single axle 5x10 open. Its works fine. 325 gal tank, 5.2gpm 3000psi legacy pump cold machine, 200ft Pressure hose on a reel, five 5gal buckets on the side ready to go to town. Even with my tank full it drives fine. I keep my surface cleaner and ladder in my truck bed. I got a Chev 2500 4x4.

Here it is with my trailer at starbucks last night. That RD-61 from ICE did great on the coffee stains even with cold water. Its a multi purpose cleaner. It was originaly for gutter steeks. ICE RD-61 Citra Plus

Wow! All I need is a truck not a monster. LOL! thats alot of power.

Alright heres how it all ended up...I got a '93 Chevy 2500 extended cab 4x4 for $2600. It's in great mechanical shape. I will post a pic later.

Just something to think about. When I do estimates I usualy ask if and when they had it washed last. Was it done by them? or a Pro? Then look for marks like that, show the owner, that way you know that they know what was already there. My $.02

Obama won because Americans have become selfish and ignorant people who want everything for nothing. Its sad, but now those of us who work for a living have to suffer for those who don't. So I have decided to quite my biz and rely on you to provide for my income. Thank you all for you help! LOL:lgbonk:
-
Yeah that sounds like a plan.

I think the 4.9L would be just fine. The thing is $$. They're where asking $6900. Yeah right! I offered $3500. They said no $5500. So I think I will offer 4500. It is in really good condition mechanicaly for its age with 74k mi. I'll keep you posted.

In the front of the trailer you'll see some metal straps. the gas cans are there now. those are for 30gal drums of chem. There are two of them.

Thanks thats good insight. Even if I got a van I would still have my stuff on a trailer. But I could put stuff like tools, wands, surface cleaner...inside the van. Here is my new trailer by the way. 5.2 gpm 4000psi legacy pump with 13hp I get about 2800psi 325gal tank up to 350ft of hose. I have 200ft on it now. I really like it.
-
I did just look at a late 90's chevy 3500 for $6500???? 4 door, clean, engine/Tranny in good con. We'll see. I kinda would like a van.

My area is very flat. And where I have been traveling is pretty much flat. I've been traveling with the tank less than a 1/4 full. LOL let me tell you what I have been towing it with...A Ranger 3.0! I pulled it down I-40 at 70mph for about 200mi. It did just fine.
-
Whats your input on the 4.9?
-
My thinking exactly. The thing is I really can't spend more right now. I was looking at an Astro at one point.
