  4. Beautiful Results! Curious to know where you ended up on a price per square foot for tackling that job. I see many jobs like that here in North Jersey, and I feel bad for giving prices of $2.50 to $3.50 per square foot, but I dont know how else you can make a living doing such jobs for less.
  5. Identity

Hey Everyone, Do some of you techies know how I can unravel the identity of an e-mailer who is inquiring about my services? My suspician is that it might be a competitor fishing for information. Is there a way to find out who they are? I've come straight out and asked but have yet to receive a response. Thanks Ray

Since then I had made several inquiries through your Embassy to locate any of my clients extended relative but this exercise has proved unsuccessful. After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his relatives through the Internet, to locate any member of his family not much progress was recorded. My late client was an influential wealthy businessman, an oil magnet here in South Africa and he left behind a deposit of Twelve Million, Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollar ($12,200,000.00USD) in his domiciliary bank account in a commercial bank here in South Africa. After the death of my client his bankers contacted me, as his Attorney to provide his next of kin who should inherit his fortune. The board of directors of his bank adopted a resolution and I was mandated to provide his next of kin for the payment of this money within 28 working days or forfeit the money to the bank as an abandoned property. The bankers had planned to invoke the abandoned property decree of 1996 to confiscate the funds after the expiration of the period given to me. Despairing at the point of exhaustiveness, fortunately, I came across your name, to my utmost amazement , you are nationals of the same country. Convinced that you may be linked with my late client or that you might provide clue to my search, I Therefore, decided to contact you with these facts before me because of the situation now . Larry, Did you infer that you are a master?
  8. Flim Flam Retaliation

Beth, When I tried posting it the first two times, the board froze then gave me some message that I cant remember, which indicated that the message didnt post. Thats why there were three. I tried deleting them to no avail. Thanks. As far as the scam, I believe if I were stupid enough to follow through with their requests, they would more than likely ask me for my baking info, passwords, etc. They would then vaccuum out my accounts and move to the next victim. Fortunately for me, I am just dumb, which last I checked is a hair short of being stupid. Have a good day all.
  9. Flim Flam Retaliation

The letter in the previous post is one I get on occasion. It comes in various sizes and shapes, but basically says the same kind of scam. DOes anyone have a good idea on how to inflict pain, torture, or at the very least a good old fashioned stomach virus or something? They get annoying.

  12. cold weather window cleaning

Rubbing alcohol also works well but once below 25 degrees, staying inside and doing paperwork works even better.

  14. Contractor's Reaction to New Organization

Another Pacifier - Blankey I dont see a need for another medium where the same people can spend even more time talking about the same ten or twenty things that have been addressed numerous times in all of the forums that already exist. Just my two cents. Ray
  15. Recent flooding

Fortunately we are not in the flood plane, but we could walk to it from my back yard. Wayne and my town, Pompton Lakes are notorious for making the 6:00 news for flooding. We had about four inches of rain yesterday and today has not really let up either. Many folks are second story bound at this point. Looking forward to sun again.
  16. Need Furniture?

Hello Friends, My best man/best friend who resides in Bend, Oregon is not only a great guy, but a true craftsman at building custom furniture. After speaking with him the other day it is apparent that his trade is getting eaten alive by mass produced products from Japan and China. I don't know how else to help him out other than doing my best to refer potential customers to him who have an appreciation for heirloom quality workmanship. Please pay a visit to his web site so if and when you or anyone you might know is on the market for such things, you can help keep alive a dieing breed of craftsman/artist. www.johanwoodworking.com I'd hate to see him have to get a production job making the left hand door for a Home Depot Cabinet. Thanks Ray Johnson Deck Restoration Plus - Bergen County, NJ
  17. For those of you who have seen this post in the PWNA site, I apologize for repeating it here but I have yet to find out any info. I figured maybe someone in here might be able to point me in the right direction Hello Folks, Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to provide the powers that be in my town with education and info on the real deal behind the "maintenance free" claims that the manufacturers of composite decks make. I've read the posts in here about the problems we as contractors have been facing when asked to clean these decks and/or correct the problem that the manufacturers claim to be mildew stains. I have not been able to find much "ammo" for a lack of a better word to show or prove that natural wood is still a viable option for part of our town's streetscape and park plans. One thing that frustrates me is that people are lead to believe that they are maintenance free products. Additionally, they fade and stain badly. Please let me know if you have any ideas on where I can look to back up my arguments with good facts. Thanks folks! Ray
