Burner Unit Only Firing On Start Up (one Time)
Hotwaterwizard replied to shawn_shawn's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
(1) A dirty Fuel filter can cause the same symptom. When fuel first enters it has enough volume to fire up then it slows down thru the filter causing one quick poof. (2) Electrodes cause a delayed burn as well firing once then loosing the spark. (3) A bad bridge rectifier can also cause this, On some machines they use a Bridge to power a Relay from the Charging coil, When the engine is running the coil puts out 24vac and the bridge changes it into Pulsating DC. A shorted rectifier will cause the burner to go on until you let go of the gun trigger. When you let go the burner will not fire up again until you shut off the engine and restart it. -
Your views on this set-up please.

You can purchase anything you want. Making it do what you want is another story. Sometimes you have to modify the remote to do what you want it to do. For example making it pull the choke out is a very difficult task. It could be done with an actuator added into the mix. But you would need 2 relays as well.

Also check your wires. This engine has a Fuel cut off solenoid attached to the Carb under the air filter. If your battery connections have corrosion the wire will not get juice all the time and the solenoid will cut off intermitantly. Oil level also controls this solenoid. Replace the fuel filter. You don't have to buy a Honda filter one from the auto parts store will work fine. Also try running the engine without the air filter for a min to see if that is the problem. If it runs fine without the Air filter then you found the problem.

Mixing Emulsifier plus 55 gallons at a time
Hotwaterwizard replied to Chris S's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I don't see any point in mixing up that much. It does have a shorter shelf life when mixed. Make what you need and store the rest . Unless you are using it in a Automatic Truck Wash that uses 100 gallons of water per min, -
Reducing shock/vibration on homemade skid unit
Hotwaterwizard replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Do not put Rubber under the pump. A great way is to make a seperate platform holding the pump motor and generator and isolate that whole platform with rubber bushings. I think they have them at Orchard Supply or Home Depot. -
I bought one and made it start a Honda and kill it also turn the burner on and off.

you could use a remote for automotive to do this. Under $100

Having to open gun to start engine
Hotwaterwizard replied to gregative's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Okay here is my take on your unloader problem. I use to convert a standard unloader to easy start by removing the little spring in the bottom of the unloader. Then the ball fell down in the bottom untill there was enough pressure to suck it up to the seat. It was primative but it worked as long as the unloader was mounted with the large spring up. Think about it this way. With an electric start you have this tiny little motor called a starter that doesn't know it isn't a big 16hp motor. You have a positive displacement pump that is 3000 psi. You have to overcome all that pressure plus the compression of the engine. The little starter motor tries to like in the story of the Little Train Engine that was going up the hill. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.n Then it Burns it's self out or the solenoid and that is all she wrote. Your arm will hurt after you try or the rope will break. So When you pull the gun it relieves the load and the engine starts easy. -

Unloader killer
Hotwaterwizard replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Go to Delta rubber or Capitol Rubber and get the clear spiral hose that won't colapse. Another name for it is suction hose. Any rubber company should have it. With 8gpm I would use 1 inch hose and a filter. Mark is also a Honda dealer so you may want to get a price from him. I prefer the Green spring unloader. it has fewer issues than ZK1. -

I would like to know more about your plumbing from the tank to the machine. I had a simmular problem from one of my customers. He had 3/4 garden hose for the suction and I changed it to 1 inch Spyralflex Suction hose and the problem went away. You may also need a pulsation dampener in the line.
