It's a 4 gpm 4000 psi general pump that's leaking water from the housing, and now there's water in the pump. I guess they sell rebuild kits for these. It only 8 mos old.
-
BTW my old pump, same brand, but 3700 psi, went up and the pressure was degrading, kind of vibrating like there was not a sufficient water supply. Could I use parts from that pump. I still have it.

Hmmmmm, $69.72 for the packing kit and if i need new pistons $106.36. I can buy a brand new one for i think $230. Thanks for the info Russ. You're very help[ful

It's a annovi reverbi RKV 4G37. It's definetly not from running too long. But I do have the water intake split and valved so I can fill my xjet bucket. There are times when I fire up the washer and forget to turn on the water valve so it runs dry for 30s. That's probably the cause. Russ if you could find me parts it would be appreciated.

I washed an old house this fall that had a side that was newly remodeled. The exterior outlets were covered in clear plastic water proof boxes. Apparently one of the outlets shorted out from my rinsing and caused a small fire in their basement. They, of course, frieked out and blamed me, but I explained to them that my rinsing of the siding would be no different than a hard rain downpour. It was new construction and was the electricians fault for not fully sealing the box from the house. They agreed with my logic and went on to attack the electrician. Close call.

I'm looking for ways to expand my services and one idea I have is laying down the epoxy garage floor coatings. Does anyone have any experience in this? What's involved?

I'm fully aware of the effects of washing decks with hot water and what a no-no this is, but how does it affect painted/solid stained wood siding as far as prep washing for recoat.

wood siding
CLASSICPW replied to CLASSICPW's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
basically, I'm thinking, not hot , but warm water would activate the chlorine and detergents in the early spring weather. This job is in the mid march area. I'm thinking that in early spring and late fall when the temps are in the high 40's to low 60's it would be better to use warm water, not hot, to wash wood siding for pre-wash for recoat. -
People who are up north, like myself, what exactly do you do with yourself in the winter? This year I bartended a few days a week and I got a few calls here and there for people selling houses and needing a wash, but that's it. What can I do to get myself through winter without almost going bankrupt....I'm desperate, somebody hook up some advise please!!

Hey Ken, I used to work for comcast, in sales, but if I've got the ladders and tools that's a great idea. What do they pay?

I got a call today from an area oil delivery company. Pretty much, they're employees occasionally spray heating oil on houses while filling the tanks. They want me to come out and wash the oil off the houses, at an average 6 times per year. I'm in the process of stepping up to a hot washer, but I do not have it yet. What do you think cold water and chems can do to oil on the side of a brick building?

CLASSICPW replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
how did you keep the hd-80 from taking the paint off the fence? BTW it looks great! -
After 3 1/2 yrs I'm FINALLY stepping up. I'm purchasing a diesel F250 Saturday and i'm looking for a quality hot water skid. I want it to be diesel fired stainless, belt drive and about 4000 psi and 5 gpm. Anybody got any good websites?

I'm buying the blue cox's and hooking up an atv winch. The winch is only $150 and probably 10 times more powerful than the electric motors on those reels.

Jeeez, my old pc was a pile of crap because of spyware and virus attacks. When I bought the new pc for the business with all the bells and whistles I made sure to have my buddy come by, who's an IT manager, and he installed Macfee, spybot, adaware, microsoft anti virus and spyware and one more. He set them to run daily so my Pc is now fast and protected. It's a massive difference

How much pressure is really needed?
CLASSICPW replied to Limeade's question in Residential Pressure Washing
GPM is key, with washing houses the chems do the work, but you want the gpm to get a good application and a rinse. -
I've been thinking about getting one of these for my high pressure hose, what do the run pricewise?
-
I cut in similar to painting a wall. Do the edges first with a slow steady fan pointing out towards the grass then run back and forth between the outline.

Diversification versus Specialization?
CLASSICPW replied to Jeff Robison's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Tell you what Jeff, I'm just like you. I'm entering my 4th yr, my 2nd yr full time. I'm only running 1 full time employee. I had a rough fall(I'm seasonal April 1st to Dec 1st) I made a few bad decisions this fall regarding advertising and right now I'm bartending until spring. I've decided to deversify my biz into driveway sealcoating, sealing and staining concrete, and applying epoxy garage coatings. I attempted gutter cleaning this winter with a 24 ft ladder and it failed. I need bigger ladders and Ireally have no money to front that. Right now I'm doing alot of research, but basically this biz is a huge learning experience. Everytime I learn something from my mistakes I grow so much stronger. That kind of like life, I guess. Someday, I hope, I'll be like the pros on this board and make bank and have a ton of knowledge, but it takes time and experience. My goal is to have a residential and commercial division of my biz, we'll see. -
Thanks Craig

First Fences
CLASSICPW replied to dennis hollis's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Pretty easy fence, I hate the shadow box kind. The spray goes right through so if you on a major road you have to cover the back of the fence uuuuggh. -
Oh yeah, what do you charge? Or if you haven't done it before what do you think you'd charge. From what I understand It's a 3 coat process that would probably take 3 separate days.

Never had a Dodge, but my buddy has a real nice 1500 and I love it. I've got a 2005 Ford escape limited, 94 Toyota pickup w/v6(bulletproof), and a 85 Chevy pickup w/a small block v8. I can say one thing about Dodges. My cousins ex-father in law's brothers uncle half sister's husband owns a repair shop that does fleet vehicles for major companies like chemlawn and such. He claims that he would go out of business if there were no Dodge trucks on the road.
