Do you really notice a difference in sound quality when using optical cable?
-
Yep, I have done audio. In fact, before I got better speakers, I used to use my stereo as speakers for the computer....Great sound for games. I have been meaning to get the audio/video run to the home theater system so when I watch something from one of the network websites (ABC, CBS, NBC) my wife can also watch it on the TV.

Once you have downloaded them, you just need to follow the directions for your MP3 player to transfer them. The files you download via Limewire are in your "shared" folder in your "documents and settings folder". Right click on the Start button, select "Explore" then find your Documents and settings folder in your C drive. IN that folder will be your user folder (whatever name you have set up). IN that folder, there is a "Shared" folder and that is where limewire puts downloaded stuff.

cleaning up the neighborhood

Wow!!! That's awesome!!!! I've seen "slideshows" on other guys' sites, but nothing like this! Now, imagine putting that on a mini-cd for people to play in their computers or DVD player and sending it out with mailers...That'd be great if you're doing major wood restoration or other large jobs with a rather small target market. My friend who does highrise inspections and repair has a cool video CD he send out with his marketing materials that works well. I love the idea!!!! -

Hey, I even received a phone call...I think the guy who called mistook me for Mel, because he was very apologetic in the message he left...wanted to talk so we could work this out, and mentioned that he was working to turn the organization around over the past 4 months, and that he wished when situations like this arise, they could be worked out before they wind up all over the message boards. Too bad they didn't try to work it out BEFORE putting the pictures and text up on their board...Just amazing...and then not to even think of giving credit for where it came from. -

Oh wow....Just stolen right off his website, word for word (and picture for picture)... Are you seeing this Mel? -
Look at all the prime-time "game" shows that are popping up...they're stupid, they require no real intelligence, and even the ones that require "knowledge" have questions about relatively stupid topics. The days of Jeopardy and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire are gone...

I second that motion

Someone may have already pointed this out, but..... This will not happen until there is a real, valid, industry-recognized organization out there that represents the working contractor. That animal doesn't yet exist.

I downloaded Limewire last night, and I have to say, it is far superior to Kazaa as far as download speeds. I'm loving this thing! Just be sure your virus software is up to date and that you look at your file sizes and don't download things that are too small/large to be what you think you're getting. For example, a song that is only 2K isn't a song, but COULD be a virus. Some of you may have problems downloading software, but if you don't, you can get pretty cool stuff if you have high speed...I downloaded and installed Photoshop 9.0 last night, works great! I was running version 7.0, so it'll be interesting to see what's new with the new version. I'll be upgrading to the pro version ($20.00 or so) to get better file access and search functions.

For many of us who were the first to support this board, it's been about a year! Time to renew! Or, if you have never donated, now's a good time to start!!! Of course, this board is free to everyone to enjoy, and there's no requirement to donate anything...It is just a great thing to do, a way to say THANKS to Beth and Rod for all the time and money they've put into starting and maintaining this AWESOME resource that we've all learned so much from. you can click here to make a donation. You can select $20, $40, $60, $80, or $100.00. Before you do, ask yourself honestly what's this board worth to you? http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/payments.php

IS the PWNA logo going to be on DeWALT's pressurewashers/boxes in retail stores? That would be a good thing, if the organization chooses to represent the membership.
-
I just got this email too...Are they going to partner with Home Depot next, maybe as their primary pressurewashing chemical supplier? Home Depot is likely the largest seller of DeWALT Pressurewashers, which appear to be no different than the line they used to sell, DevilBliss Excel. I wonder how much DeWALT paid the PWNA to start pushing homeowner grade pressurewashers to its membership?

One Rig, 2-Man Crew... What's your avg. gross?
Mike Williamson replied to Craig's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Maybe that's how it is where you're at. Most of my customers don't make anywhere near that...or live in $900k houses. Most of my customers live in houses between $200 and $400k, and work jobs like the one I left to do washing...Maybe a combined income of $80-100k with both spouses working. I don't worry about their income, or whether they're "duplicit" (I think you meant duplicitous). I give my price, they either accept it or they don't. I don't ask how much they make, how much their bills are, or any of that. I don't care. They can either afford it, or they can't. If they can, then we have a deal. If they can't, then it doesn't matter what they have to say! You sound as if your customers are your enemies, that you have contempt for them. I love my customers...they pay my bills. -
State specific business start up requirements.
Mike Williamson replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Yep, if you add the insured folks to the ones just starting up, you get 77 people, leaving 8 out of 85 who don't carry insurance, most of whom are likely first year people, or people who don't and never will do things legally, until they're caught, that is. -
I've been watching this for a couple months. Kinda cool. I like watching it at night, you see all kinds of things walk by, and every once in a while you can see a tour vehicle drive by and hear the people talking.

What did you do before becoming a Pw'er?
Mike Williamson replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Wow, my Bro. in law worked for them (and may still, we don't talk anymore)...his first position was as an engineer in Wisconsin for them. Now they're in Seattle, but I'm not sure if he's with them, or with another company now. -

Let's see...education - HS and 2 years of Community College. Work history...heheheh....I've worked in various construction trades (gutters hanging, commercial sheet metal/duct work, I've been a meat cutter, I worked in apartment maintenance, property management, accounting, and of course, the mainstay for many teenagers...fast food! And now, this. -
Got to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen...

Mike Williamson replied to Craig's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Water, chemicals, fuel, maintenance, labor, insurance (vehicle, WC, Liability, Health), phones, advertising, vehicles, repairs, taxes, and a million other small expenses that add up. Yeah, it's easy to look at a job and say "Hey, I charged $600.00 for that job, and it only cost me $10.00 in soap and chlorine, and $30.00 in fuel for the machine and the truck! Wow, Imade $560.00 in profit! Problem is, that's misleading, and causes a lot of guys to undercharge thinking they are making good money, only to find after a few months that the money they think they're making isn't going quite as far as they thought it would...
