  1. Leaf stain in slabs - how to shift?

Nevermind..it's been handled in the thread...I guess I should read the whole thing before responding!!
  2. Leaf stain in slabs - how to shift?

I spray sodium hypchlorite (pool chlorine) and that clears it up fast, typically either downstreamed, or a bit stronger in a pump up sprayer.
  3. 12% Bleach

If you're not trying to remove any form of algae, mildew, moss, or anything else that's living, it won't do a dang thing for housewashing. If you're only removing non-organic dirt, soap and water will work best.
  4. 12% Bleach

I would think chlorine would be bad for anything, if left on too long. I don't know that it would harm vinyl, but why take a chance. I have heard it will etch windows, but I've never experienced that. Then again, I don't leave it on too long! Best distributors here are pool supply stores. Another source can be agricultural supply, hardware stores, or cleaning supply companies.

Excellent statement, but I'd like to add that we shouldn't be scared to reach beyond what we think our abilities are...many times, we'll surprise ourselves! I suppose that is, in a sense, being truly realistic about our abilities.
  6. Thank you to our TGS Site Supporters!

I didn't get them started, Beth did that...I just started a thread about it. :)
  7. I quit

I use www.wunderground.com They're pretty accurate most of the time, at least for here.

That works fine if you watch one at a time...we watch 3-4 every weekend, so netflix won't work for us. I don't mind paying the extra money to get what I want when I want it. So I am with the program...my program! :)
  9. First Solo Housewash

As long as you're flushing it out, these should last quite a while, and they sell rebuild kits for them when they do stop working.

Not sure what grade the fittings are that I get from espec, but I've had good luck with them. Even the ones I use on the shurflo chlorine setup hold up well, and when can get a 3/8 coupler for $2.00 as opposed to $8.00 elsewhere, I don't mind swapping them out every few months. Maybe I'll order a few of the good ones and see how long they last.
  11. First Solo Housewash

wierd... Are you ordering that same injector? They do have some cheaper ones, but I prefer the performance of this model, and the fact that it's SS. I do want to say thanks for getting me to look at their site....they ARE cheaper on cox reels, and free shipping....I'll save at least $100.00 in shipping and product cost on the three reels I was going to order elsewhere.

Well, their prices in the 2006 catalog have gone up drastically, so I will be buying from them when their sales fliers come out, if the prices are still good. I made sure to place a large order before prices went up. I agree, a necessary evil. On some parts, like stainless QC couplers and plugs, their sale prices just can't be beat. When I'm ordering 200 pieces, $3.00 or more dollars difference in price is a big deal! I've gotten just a bit of attitude from the sales people about problems with my orders (I fax them in, so there is no question what I meant to order). So far, I've not had any errors on the orders, but a couple backordered parts. No problem, but you're right, they don't bother calling. Overall, I haven't had any experiences with them that make me not want to order from them, other than the 2006 prices. I ordered 300' of hose from them on 12/30 and got them on 1/3

Yeah, but expensive. I've priced lots of stuff from them, and they're always higher than most. This is from their site... SKU: VM-360505 MSRP: $99.89 Savings: $20.39 (20%) Price: $79.50 This is the same injector that I ordered from espec for $50.00.
  14. First Solo Housewash

I got the ones I'm using currently from envirospec...I think it's called a "bleach injector" or something similar in their catalog. Close to $50.00 a pop, but they work.
  15. Any Gamers???

So they could charge him for it, of course.

I just bought the whole season. Best Buy had it as a set for $44.00. Figured I'd have paid $30.00 or so to rent them, so this way I could watch them when I want, and when we're done sell it on ebay for a few bucks.
  17. Grandma's Birthday

You sure you don't want to wait for August to go to Lake Havasu? It gets a tad warm there that time of year. Isn't family awesome!
  18. Deleted scenes from 24

They also come on the DVD set. We watched season 4 in two days. Can't wait for season 5 to come out on DVD next year.

The monitor also makes a big difference...I have a Samsung Syncmaster 930b, which has an 8ms refresh rate...very fast, but they now have a similar monitor with a 4ms refresh rate. Great for fast action games. Just keep in mind that you need to make sure whatever video card you buy will work in your machine. If it is a PCI card, you should be fine, but there's also AGP2x, AGP 4x, AGP 8x, and PCI Express. Just make sure what type of slot you have open on your motherboard before you buy the card. Nothing as discouraging as getting home with a hot new video card only to find out it won't work!
  20. Any Gamers???

Oh yeah, the difference between PC graphics and a game console hooked to a regular TV is huge, which is why I don't own a game console! I love first person shooter games (Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, etc), flight sim combat games (there aren't really any recent good ones that I know of) and racing games (The entire Need For Speed series, particularly the Porche game, the Underground series, and the most recent, NFS Most Wanted). The last three NFS games have all been awesome! Do NOT buy "Cold War". It SUCKS with a capital SUCKS! Another type of game I've found I love are strategy games...Command & Conquer Generals, and other that is pretty cool is "Rome,Total War". I haven't done any online gaming since Duke Nukem, so I can't really talk intelligently about that!

I agree that to say a gutter product is "touchless" is overstating...I've used both GS and GZ, and neither are touchless in every case. I think GS is more effective, and is "touchless" in more cases. With GZ I had to brush most of the time, with GS I have to brush about 25% of the time. I understand about starting out, either part time or full time, and having to watch pennies! Heck, some of us are still watching pennies. Does the purple power work on gutters? If so, and if it works well, then hey, it's cheaper! But if you're having to brush most gutters, I'd suggest giving GS a try. As has been mentioned, just be very careful with strength, and with the amount of agitation when you do have to brush. I've gotten to the point where I won't even try to get the streaks off of the aluminum fascia wraps in some neighborhoods where I know they're cheaply made. I hope I didn't come across as confrontational! I've been doing my best to think before speaking!
  22. First Solo Housewash

No, I believe he was referring to Gutter Zap, but my point was not that zap work wonders, but rather there might be a better way to say it than to call it "Gutter Burn".
  23. First Solo Housewash

Any product when not used properly and carefull can cause damage, and that goes for Gutter Zap. I don't think it's appropriate to bash someone's proven product simply because you don't like the price, or because either you used it too strong, too long, or on cheap gutters. It just isn't nice.
  24. First Solo Housewash

I prefer Gutter Shock...in my experience, it works better, though as mentioned, you DO have to be careful with how strong you use it, and on cheaper gutters/fascia. It's not all that expensive when you consider how far it goes. It DOES work, though as you mentioned, some gutters will never come clean, but that's usually because either they've been re-painted with the wrong paint, or they're cheap and you can't get them clean without removing paint. I'd say you NEED a product like GS, zap, or castrol superclean...This is the type of thing that many pressurewashers don't know about, so they don't bother getting the stripes off the gutters. It is an area that can set apart a newer company from the rest.
