I doubt that Walmart is offering illegal downloads. The music downloads I think most are referring to here are illegal downloads from peer-to-peer services like Kazaa and others. I wouldn't even have a problem with downloading something that isn't available for purchase...again, no one is harmed. Yes, it is still technically illegal, but then again, there are lots of stupid laws out there. :)

I don't have a problem with renting movies, or even with copying them after you've rented them...though technically that is still legally stealing. It is a victimless crime, since no one is out any money, since you aren't going to re-rent that movie later (or at least you likely won't) even if you didn't copy it. I used to do the same thing, until I realize that I never re-watched the movies and copying them was a waste of my time and a small amount of money. The problem I have is with those who download music/movies for the express reason of avoiding paying for them in the first place. The concept seems to be "Why pay to buy, rent, or even go see a movie in the theater if I can download it free off the internet and burn a DVD of my own" or "Why buy the CD or pay to download it from the internet if I can download it for free?" The point is, you didn't pay for it, you don't have a right to it, even if you weren't going to buy/rent/go see the movie or album in the first place.

I think the word you're looking for here is PROFIT, not "gravy". How would you like it if a homeowner sat down and said "Hey, it only cost that guy $75.00 in expenses to wash my house...the rest is just "gravy". I think I'll pay him the $75.00, and maybe a couple bucks for his "gravy" and that's fair!!!" I agree with Phillip and Lance here..stealing is stealing. Whether it is music, movies, software, cars, or money...if it isn't yours, and you didn't pay for it, don't take it!

If anyone is in the St. Pete area and is interested in a job lead, I have a window cleaning lead for a church. Email me at mike@northfloridapressurewashing.com if you're interested

Dodge has a new feature in their 2006 trucks, in the Hemi...At highway speeds, it shuts down 2 cylindars, so you're now running a V6...supposed to save a couple miles/gallon.

Now that's just cool. You build him a miniature roof in there with some lead boots for him to chew holes in! ;) -

Do you keep him in a cage, or does he roam free? -
Are they ripping us off? If so, by how much? I for one don't really know whether they are or not. It seems like it sometimes, but I don't really know. On the other hand, who has the right to set the price and determine how much profit is enough? Usually it is the company that is providing the service or commodity. In this industry, the primary commodity is time...How much that is worth can vary from a few dollars per hour to several hundred, and WE set that price, since we're not buying that time from someone else. The gas station has to buy that gas from the oil company, who sets the price to the station. The oil company has to buy the crude from someone, and they set the price for that. The bottom line is, the gas stations really don't have a lot of wiggle room, and they really don't make much money off gas sales. You DO have a wider range of prices as you widen the area that you're looking at. True, stations across the street from eachother often match prices, or have differences of a penny or two in price, but if you look at an entire area, you'll usually see prices ranging by a good bit more. Here, I can get regular for $2.95 in one place, or $3.19 a few miles down the road. Change takes time. Stations won't start selling it until there's a decent demand for it.

How did you come to have a squirrel as a pet? That's just too cool. -

Imagine if she were like you in that regard...My sister and her husband are both softies for strays...they currently have 7 (all rather large, 40lbs up to 120 lbs) dogs and 3 cats. That's funny. My house isn't even that big! Oh, is that inches?? -
If you could get them done quickly enough, the travel time/expense wouldn't be as large a factor....maybe 3/night. Worth looking into at least.

Amen to that. -
I would even consider a hybrid for everyday driving and for the wife to go to work and back, but they're so dang small, and there are so many larger vehicles...I just don't feel safe with her and the baby in a smaller car. Biodiesel is good for you guys with diesels, but I've got a 5 year payment book on a gas engine.

In most areas, gas taxes are a flat rate per gallon, not a % of the sale. That's why you're not charged tax on the total amount sold, like you are other taxable items. This means that as gas prices climb, gas usage drops, and thus gas tax revenue drops.

If you can't keep him, at least let him loose or go dump him out in another neighborhood...if he hits the pound, he's done for, and that's just not right. He came to you because he needed help, not a death sentence. If your dog got lost, would you want the person who found him/her to drop him/her off at the pound? -
Right. That's how it works on all trailers. I was simply pointing out that not all trailers have brakes on both axles. My open trailer has them on both, but not the enclosed.
-
That's possible. I don't know about the brand of trailer Jeff has, but my Haulmark 7x14 only has brakes on one axle.

State of Affairs-Bulletin Boards
Mike Williamson replied to Everett Abrams's question in The Club House
How do you know who is really a contractor, and who isn't? Anyone can log in and claim to be a pressure washer. The only way I can see would be to require contact information, and verify their company...But then you have the problem of those who haven't yet started their company and who are here to learn how. I really don't care about those who are coming to the boards to find out how to DIY...They're not the ones who are going to call me anyway, at least not until after they screw it up (and if they get the proper information here, hopefully they won't). I stay too busy with the ones who DO call me to worry about the ones who don't, and who are DIY types. If they don't get the information here, they'll get it somewhere. There's plenty of DIY websites, Home Depot holding classes, etc. -
Have you checked the settings on your brake controller? I have the same problem (though with both wheels) on my open trailer. I have the brake controller (It is the Prodigy by Tekonsha) set for my enclosed trailer, and when I switch to the open trailer, I have to set the controller down a bit or my wheels lock up. Definitely need to get it checked, though. Locked up wheels aren't any good, especially in the rain!

I agree that there is a fair share of childishness and sniping, and I'm guilty of it too at times. For the most part, I enjoy these boards, I try to help where I can, learn a few things, and get along. I also agree with Everett, it doesn't belong here, and it damages the image of the industry in the eyes of those looking in from outside. Everett: I hope you continue to post here and elsewhere...I've always enjoyed your posts, and you have given a lot of knowledge and assistance to those who need it. -
Nope, I think we've taken it as far as it needs to go.

The X-Jet debate

Throw the proportioners in the garbage. They're a pain to use, they get lost easily, and they take too much time to switch. Just adjust your mix in the bucket to whatever strength you need. -
I believe they both have the twist kind, but being aluminum, you don't get the problems with them overtightening. I've not had a problem with mine the few times I've used it.
