The water is going somewhere....either your pump is broken and not putting out water at all, or it is bypassing, or you have a major leak in your bypass line, or somewhere between the unloader and the gun. The water has to be going somewhere.

Check with Paul Kassander (I think he's the resident espec guy). The ones I ordered that have worked very well for me are part # 5005C, priced at around $12.00. I hear Bob at PressureTek also sells some good ones.

why the heck do you send 2 people to do a 1 man job?!
Mike Williamson replied to Jarrod's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hey, you promised ME that job when it came open!!??!!?? -
Here's a trick, if you use a ball valve on the end of your pressure hose...turn the valve most of the way off, but enough so that you're getting flow without constantly cycling the unloader...You'll create enough back pressure to keep the downstreamer from drawing, and you'll be able to use a low pressure tip to rinse with.

Mike Williamson replied to Jarrod's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I do this work myself, and I personnnally make, on average, between $100.00 and $125.00 per hour doing it. I haven't been screwed yet, and don't plan on it in the future. Oh yeah, Rob, I'm sure there are just LOADS of guys lining up to pay you $150.00/hour to "train" them in your methods of running your business, which strangely, seem to change with every post. I can think of several guys I'd pay $150/hour to learn from, but you're not anywhere near that list... That's not the take I get from Jarrod...but it IS what I get from Rfitz... -
If I read his post correctly, the guy told him what he was getting, but Mark came in $12.00 cheaper...but it turns out he was REALLY $18.00 higher, but got the job anyway because the other guy wasn't making them happy. Which means the other guy lied about his price, saying he was getting $30.00 more than he was really getting, I assume to get Mark to do exactly what he did. Didn't work...that's probably why the guy is upset...he tried to play Mark and it blew up in his face. Sorry Mark, I had posted this before reading that you hadn't changed your bid after talking with him.
-
Of course you're not wrong. Even if they hadn't called you, and you submitted a bid, you weren't wrong. I do mailers all the time, and I'm sure some of those go to people who already have a PW contractor. If they choose to go with me based on confidence in my ability, my pricing, or whatever, that's their choice. If this guy wanted the jobs, he should have made sure his customer was happy.

I just checked, and it is up, though there's very little recent activity.

The problem with "going with your soul" is that many peoples' souls are headed for a place one wouldn't want to be. Noah had sons who were married...Their descendants populated the earth...Just as Adam and Eve's descendants populated the earth prior to the flood. Some say the different races all stem from each of Noah's three sons. Some differences in the races are simply adaptations to environment...Which is why black folks didn't populate northern europe, and you don't find too many blonde haired blue eyed pasty faced people in equitorial areas. Just because you can't explain something doesn't make it a myth.
-
That's too bad...because God is looking for sheep, not goats. We were ALL born to be His "sheep". Many of us have deviated from our intended purpose.

Someone pleez run me over with a weed whacker!!!
Mike Williamson replied to Jarrod's question in The Club House
I'll give you a hug, Jarrod...I'm not afraid. I just got back from a two day very intense Men's Conference for our church's Florida District. I've been hugging men all weekend!!! And not any of those sissy one handed handshake-hugs either! -
The X-Jet debate
Mike Williamson replied to PressurePros's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
My first guess is that somewhere, you have a restriction in the line that is causing back pressure on the downstreamer. This would have to be somewhere between the tip and the downstreamer. The first thing I'd do is connect 50' of hose directly to the downstreamer with no gun and see if it will draw. -
Well, Phillip, I think it is pretty clear from past discussions that you and I are never going to agree where religion is concerned... If you wish to think me arrogant, that's fine. I think God is very concerned with the things His creation does. Like I said, this is my choice, I've explained my reasons. I'm not upset that you or anyone else disagrees with me....

I've always thought the best translation of the bible is the one you will read.
-
Yes, it was a novel, but a novel based on very real, and to many, very important people. I simply feel it would be insulting to God for me, as His child, as one who claims to love Him, to go see a movie or read a book that essentially says that scripture is wrong, and that Jesus was not who He claimed to be. That's all. If others enjoy the movie, great! I'm sure I'd enjoy it, aside from the things I've already mentioned...I simply choose not to take enjoyment in what I feel God finds offensive! I'm not angry at the writers, the producers, or the readers/viewers. I've simply made a choice. Not all liberals are anti Christian, and not all conservatives are pro Christian.

I'm glad you think so! :)

Cleaning Pool Enclosures
Mike Williamson replied to copgib's question in Residential Pressure Washing
That's because they haven't tried downstreaming, or if they have, they didn't do something right. But you're right...whatever works for each person. If a person is a stubborn, illogical loyalist to an overpriced and overrated tool, that's up to them!!! :) -
o....k....?? Too late tho...I'm already one of His children. :lgjump: Nope, haven't and will not read the book nor watch the movie. I have heard enough from those who have that I have no interest. I wouldn't read a book that was written in an insulting manner about my wife or my parents, and I won't read a book or watch a movie whose goal is to call my God a liar.

Whose name???

Cleaning Pool Enclosures
Mike Williamson replied to copgib's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hugh: I got your email! I'll go ahead and answer it here, so others can share too. I downstream almost all the time. If things are REALLY nasty, I'll Xjet, but I haven't had to do that in a long time. If I'm also cleaning the roof, and the pool cage is really nasty, I'll shoot it with the roof solution before I put the hose away. -
The problem is that many aren't seeking the truth, they are seeking to promote their anti-Christian agenda. I fully believe if some of these people found irrefutable proof that Jesus was and is who the bible says he is, they'd hide it.

Yep, that works great for drum kits and such...but I think what some folks didn't realize is that Hugh was talking about his chem tank on his trailer, where he keeps his soap/chlorine mix for housewashing. I have the exact same setup, and have never had to mix mine up. On my drum kits, I just stick a length of PVC in there and mix it up for a minute or so. The drum mixers would be easier, but I have a hard time paying that kind of money for something I'd rarely use.
-
The chems will mix just fine on their own on the way to the jobsite. No need to mix them again in the tank, unless the trailer has been sitting at the jobsite for more than a day. If you need to mix them, simply stick the wand in the open tank with a low pressure tip and pull the trigger for a second or so. That'll mix them up just fine, without spending money on mixers, oars, or paying someone to make you a redneck propeller that might whack a hole in your tank.
-
Sorry, I just assumed you were talking straight chems because I couldn't imagine anyone worrying about losing 1 gallon of chem/water mix that is at most 20% chems and is typically 10%. My apologies. Ok, so we have 1 gallon of solution, of which .10 gallons is chem, which costs approx. $1.20/gallon, so every time I flush the line, there's .12 in chem being lost, IF you can't seem to figure out how to work the system and use that chem. Oh, and 8 seconds lost. Wow. On a residential house, I may have to flush my lines at most 6 times...so if I totally lose that chem, I've lost $0.72 in chems and 1 minute 36 seconds for the entire job. I'm sorry, if $0.72 isn't negligible to anyone out there running a business, then they have much more serious problems then what method they're using to apply chems. If you're flushing your lines "many times" (more than, say, 10 or even 15 times) you don't know what the heck you're doing and probably ought to find someone who does to show you the ropes.
-
It takes about 7 or 8 seconds to clear my line, so the time isn't an issue as some people have implied....And the mistake you make in your logic is that it isn't pure chem in the line...So no, there's not 1 gallon of chem in the line "defeating that 'uses less chem' argument". There's about 1 gallon of water/chem mix, of which about 10% of that is chem, of which about 90% of that is pool chlorine. And IF you learn to work the system, you don't waste any at all...you put in your rinse tip and take that 8 seconds to finish soaping, or re-hit areas that might be particularly bad. Sorry, the Xjet is certainly not the better solution when doing smaller residential jobs. You're not switching between rinse and soap every minute or two...you're switching between rinse and soap every 5-10 minutes or so. Leaving your chem pre-mixed in a tank on the trailer saves time and effort, and the chem strength through a good downstreamer is sufficient for most residential jobs. By the time you've pulled out your Xjet setup, mixed your chems in the bucket or container, and hauled it over to the first section of house you're going to be washing, I'll have already soaped and rinsed that first side of the house and be starting on the 2nd side.
