  1. That was my thought, but I was hoping someone could confirm the use/result of a product like that, or maybe another product that I hadn't thought of.
  2. Anybody have any ideas of a good coating to put on a steal frame trailer after it has been sand blasted? I'm looking to do the same thing, but not real sure which direction to go as far as a new coating. Regular paint seems to be worthless when faced with chlorine and other harsh chemical spills and splashes. Any ideas?
  3. Good point here. I think one thing that seems to take a little time to finally realize is that somtimes perfection falls out of the scope of whats profitable in this business, and what outcomes are reasonably expected from the exterior cleaning trade . You have to know your limitations, and when it may be time to call it a "job well done".
  4. Thanks for the kind words Scott. It's nice to see so many familiar faces. I need to start dropping in more often.
  5. Round-about pricing?

  6. Round-about pricing?

I believe my chem dry carpet guy charges me exactly that, .30 cents a sq ft.
  7. I agree with Ken. I also clean a lot of stucco as well, and frequently come upon areas that require full strength 10% chlorine via shurflo or pump up sprayer to even have a chance at eradication.
  8. Dryvit help, please

That's pretty bad. I usually have to hit the real bad areas like that with some straight 10.5% via a pump up sprayer.
  9. Dryvit help, please

That's pretty bad. I get that every now and then. I usually have to hit with straight 10.5 via a pump up sprayer to get the real bad areas.
  10. X jet VS .0040

Nice. Never thought of that. I'll have to try.
  11. X jet VS .0040

I don't like the X-jet. I see no advantages to a properly set up downstream system, only disadvantages. I save on average 25% more time on each job since I started downstreaming again about a year ago.
  12. Making the x-jet easier to use

Au contraire monfrair, no mis post here. The key to my post is that the original question is a trick question, because everyone knows that there is no "easier way to use the X-jet". ;)
  13. Making the x-jet easier to use

I find the X-Jet to be a waste of time when you are properly equiped for downstreaming. I've used my M-5 maybe twice in over a year.
  14. Bottom Line is....

Hey Barry, Actually this wasn't a previous customer. I had just met her and given an estimate about a week prior. The one thing that really surprised me about this lady was how upfront and honest she was. Most customers would just call and cancel, but she actually gave a thorough explanation on my voice mail of why she was canceling (same content as her email above) which is what prompted my email to her. I mean it's not a big deal, I've had plenty of this in the past, but I figured I'd share because I still had the email. Oh, and GO JAGS!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Bottom Line is....

That's the exact problem Jeff, that's all that most people thank we do, and for good reason, because that's all that most pressure washers do do. Most have no concept in what goes into this trade. I know this has been beat to death, but with that quote I couldn't resist.
  16. Bottom Line is....

This is a little example of what you get in a industry loaded with inexperienced idiots cutting the throat of legit businesses. I gave a quote to this lady about a month ago. She called me back the night before our appointment and canceled. I wrote her an email in response to her cancellation and this was the reply. She was very nice, but naive like many. Lance thank you for your email. I am very sorry that I had to cancel our appointment but I also wanted to be honest with you. For years I paid $250.00 to have my house, driveway, patio & sidewalks pressure washed. When you quoted me $500.00 for the house & driveway I thought that was a little high but since I had not done pressure washing in 3 years I really just thought like everything else the price had gone up. I did not not go looking for another estimate but this gentleman was in our neighborhood and just came by so I allowed him to give me an estimate and I was really shocked in what he quoted me. I have never been a shopper for the lowest price because I do know you pay for what you get but his estimate was so much lower than yours that I had to make that decision. It will be interesting to see the kind of quality work that he does and I will let you know. I will keep you in mind for future jobs, and I trust you do understand. I wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season. Thank you
  17. Bottom Line is....

I'm tired of this line of work for those reasons, and then some. These days, I price as high as I can get, I only take the gravy work, and I will not work for people I don't like. Now, I find myself working a lot less, with less headaches, and making the same money I was before. This industry will never get due respect, mark my words on that.
  18. African watering hole

Hey everyone, heres a link to a 24 hour video and sound feed to a watering hole in Africa. Kinda of cool. http://live.wildlife.wavelit.net/451OK
  19. Sodium Hypochlorite Prices

    1.25 a g. here.
  20. African watering hole

It's funny what you said about it being addictive, I concur. After discovering it a couple of days ago, I've had it on a mini screen at the bottom of my screen the whole night while on doing other things on the computer, and every time I hear or see something I pop it up to see what it is.
  21. African watering hole

Hey Scott, Yeah, I've been away for awhile busy with other things. I see a lot of new faces, I mean names.
  22. Logo Theft and Fraud

That's not exactly true. Once a person creates a name for company and or logo, and begins to use it in commerce, they have a certain level of trademark protection. Not only that, but one may also use the "TM" mark next to there logo once they start using a specific name in commerce. Which is significant in showing others that the name and/or logo are protected and may only be used by the owner too describe there specific products or services. To receive the "R" symbol signifying a registered trademark can only be used after a trademark has been submitted and accepted by the trademark office, which can take as much as several years. I guess the point I'm making is its not completely necessary to register for a trademark to use the "TM" symbol next to a name, or to have protection from others who steel, or use a name that's very similar to yours. It usually will all come down to who can prove that they were using the name first.
  23. Finally NFL Football Season!

See the real deal. Best defense in the league. Steelers who???? GO JAGS!!!!
  24. Black 12%

Yeah, in the nearest river or stream. :D just kidding folks.
  25. Tools Of The Trade

The pressure washer will get you by for a starter, but you're gonna want more gpm as soon as you can swing it. No need for a water broom, just use an 8010 or 9510 tip for rinsing concrete. Its faster, easier, and cheaper. Spend the extra money and buy a good surface cleaner, it will pay for itself in just a few jobs. I bought a whisper wash classic a couple of months ago and have loved it, but there's other good brands as well. I would say its not a bad idea to have an M5 x-jet for certain jobs, but I think you really ought to consider downstreaming for your regular house washing. Do a search, you'll find a lot of information on it. If you plan to keep your washer on the trailer/truck, you'll want at least 200' of hose, and a hose reel to accommodate it. I recommend cox reels. good quality. No pitch witch. I'm sure it has a use?, but not necessary for cleaning roofs. do a search on roof cleaning, its a specialty which to do it right, and be competitive, it will require investing in some different equipment.
