  1. I'm still trying to decide how to go about setting up a back up water tank for a 5.5 gpm machine, but I'm having a hard time deciding what size tank I should go with. I'm pretty certain that most of the homes in this area put out at least 5 gpm. Which leaves maybe .5 gpm that I will have to compensate for. I was thinking that I would probably be fine with as little as a 15 g tank, but not sure. Also, will the lack of gravity feed on a smaller tank be a problem for the pump on the pressure washer to acheive the proper amount of intake flow?
  2. Stopping in to say hello!

hello all. I haven't been here in awhile and thought I'd pop in to say hello. Everything has been great on my end; business doing well and life not to bad. I assume Beth and Rod still manage here. Nice to see that you'll are doing a great job. Anyway, Happy holidays!
  3. Inlight of a recent thread reguarding personal safety, I was curious where other members of this web forum are buying their PPE.
  4. This is one of my inventions I came up with while tinkering this afternoon. It's a pvc wand, but with two nozzles instead of one. While cleaning roofs, I apply my chems with a Shurflo, and one thing that has always bugged me was having to reapply to areas that I just covered because of quick drying and because of the algea quickly absorbing the first coat of chem. With this, I hope to coat the roof much faster, while still avoiding a lot of run off and wasted chem. Those of you who clean a lot of roofs know what I'm talking about when you try applying to much chem to a given area, the chem seem to almost roll right of the surface of the algae, I believe my dual nozzle design will help prevent this from happening. While experimenting with it this afternoon, I'm also convinced it will allow me to apply my chem to the roof in much less time. I equiped the business end with a QCto aid in flushing out the pump, chem line and wand when finished, Also to allow adjustments to the angle(when necessary), and for the option to attach my regular single tip nozzles. I'm going to try it out tommorow on a roof I will be cleaning, so will see.
  5. Higher Learning or not?

I thought it would be interesting to see what levels of education owners, or non owners, in this industry have. If you so desire, please elaborate in the thread.
  6. I bought a new-to-me house last Sept and have put a lot of time and sweat equity into fixing it up to our liking. The house was a very sound, good shell of a house, but seriously lacked in curb appeal. It is a Norwegian brick wall house all the way around with concrete header and wood eaves and fascia. 4B 2 1/2 bath, 2,100 sqft heated and cooled. The before pics are form the day we closed on the house. Since then, I cleaned it from top to bottom, painted the eaves and fascia, put new shutters on the front added outdoor lighting, and done a number of other detail work to the exterior. The yard was crap. I've since regraded the back yard, re-sodded the front and back, and re-landscaped added landscaping to the front and back. the house was one of the ugliest on the street, and is now one of the most attractive. Needless to say, the people in the neighborhood love their new neighbor.
  7. Wow! Look how brazenly this guy stole my entire website, layout, text, graphics, some pics, etc. www.kingwoodpressurewashing.com My site www.ccpressureclean.com
  8. Anyone in Texas know this website thief?

I've submitted a copyright claim to godaddy. I actually called the guy right after I discovered it. I asked him to pull the site down and he actually had the nerve to ask if he can keep it up for a few weeks until he can get another site put together. I told him absolutely not. I notice he has tried changing some things, but not even close to good enough. I have people all the time take a paragraph here and there, but I've never seen anybody rip off an entire website like this. Needless to say I was livid when I discovered it. I know most of you know about sites like copyscape.com but for those that don't you can scan a handful of pages for free once a month to check and see if someone has stolen your property. I usually check my main pages about every two months.
  9. Yup. No thanks on that "invitation to bid".
  10. What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?

Watching tv and appreciating the fact that I'm single again after 13 years.
  11. Watched while working.

down here we have spiders that squash spiders like that.
  12. I hate concrete paints, and have never seen one that hasn't failed eventually. When customers ask about them, I tell them to steer clear.
  13. Chemical pump

The flow is getting restricted. Use a larger orifice nozzle, and larger ID hose.
  14. The only way I can see anything like that happening if through means already described (contaminated water bowl near deck, etc). If that's not the case, I wouldn't worry about it to much. It would cost them way more money then they would want to spend to attempt to prove that you were at fault some how.
  15. Couple of general newbie questions

I just wear a good pair of wrap around sun glasses and use little caution.
  16. In my area lawn guys are notorious for being under knowledged, under equipped, and under priced in exterior cleaning. In fact, they usually just leave a black eye on our industry. You're the one doing the research. YOU are the professional. trust what you've learned and the guys on forums like this one and you can't go wrong.
  17. I run my web pages through copyscape.com just about every month and about every time I find at least one thief who has stolen some of the content from my website. It's very frustrating and feels the same way as if they stole equipment right off my trailer. I guess that's the price you pay when you have good content that ranks good in the search engines.
  18. I don't buy that either. 100 people can write a paragraph detailing similar information and every one of them will be distinctively different if it came from their own thoughts.
  19. black plastic shutters

If the shutters are already a little dulled from the sun, the house wash mix can make it a little more noticeable. The best way to prevent any problems is to rinse them immediately after applying the chem to that section of house. I usually hit them with some water right after applying my solution while rinsing down the landscaping.
  20. Delavan Pumps

A good rule of thumb if you don't have it wired to automatically charge is to charge everyday after using it. Last thing you need is to cut it close and run out of charge in the middle of a job. That would blow.
  21. check your feet

Sorry to hear it. I'm 34 now and feel like I'm starting to fall apart already. What reason did he give for the water having anything to do with it?
  22. Injectors are cheap. Just buy a new one and be done with it.
  23. Special Delivery!

That's FL for you. I do work in a lot of golf course communities and come across Gators all the time sunning themselves in back yards next to the swamps, lakes, and retection ponds. Many people will feed them so when you walk near the the shore line sometimes they will start swimming towards you thinking you're there to give them a hand out.
  24. Phone Estimate

Over 50% of my estimates are given over the phone without ever meeting the customer in person, or without seeing the property first hand. It's worked out really well for my business. They love the fact that we can expedite the quote and schedule the work so fast. When customers call for our services soon isn't soon enough. Meeting face to face has it's advantages, but you'd be surprised at what can be accomplished (sales wise) over the phone.
  25. Who uses the "Ladder Saver"

Down streaming great, Ladder Saver = waste of money. You can buy the proper nozzles, or make your own nozzles for one tenth of the price, but If you want to waste some money, by all means go for it.
