  1. Jordan & Eric,

Most are unwilling to post their pricing on an open public forum. I agree that it is foolish to do so. Everyone prices differently, and has different overhead. Charge whatever YOU need to make a reasonable profit margin.

Mike, as a veteran of these forums, is telling it like it is, most of us won't share pricing info.

If my prospects are shopping for price, I'm targeting the wrong demographic.

  2. I hope everyone has some time to sit and reflect on all the things they are thankful for.

Not just with the bird and the family and all the crazyness that goes with the holiday. I mean the people around you and the things you can do and have, and the reasons why you have them all in your life.

God Bless everybody and have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. I'm going to do some painting!

My painting experience is minimal, used to do the Boys and Girls Club's every year and we would also paint apartments used for temporary housing for homeless families.

This is for a good friend and for no pay but I want to do a top quality job.

It's a home interior that's about 15 years old and nothing has ever been painted. The usual dings and gouges and staining of a house with a single parent and 3 kids. I'm mostly interested in the prep work, do I clean the walls, use a primer, etc.

The existing paint is kind of a cream color and will be covered with the same or darker color.

    Any pointers appreciated.

  4. And im sure john you are going to give me hell for working in your back yard right?

Why would you think that, it's not MY backyard you can work anywhere you want.

I come here to learn and share what I've learned, you've done very very well in 2 years I'm sure I could learn a lot from you.

I'd like to come down and buy you lunch and pick your brain a little, Friday is good for me this week or anytime next week.

    When is good for you?

  5. Here's some food for thought.

Go to SIMIX solutions and see if there is something there you feel like getting into,

there are many possible, for one you will stay warm and dry this winter.

    Just a thought?

    Paul.

So basically every post you make is spam for simix, is that correct?

  6. That is moisture trapped underneath the sealer. Lightly wipe the affected areas with a rag moistened with zylene/xylene - this will emulsify the sealer just enough to let the trapped moisture escape then the sealer will settle back out properly. USE the proper PPE - this is not a applicator friendly product! It's not difficult to perform, however, it can be time consuming, even tedious. Price appropriately!

    +1 and what Scott said.

  7. It's nice to give something but not necessary, I don't unless it's a huge account.

I can't think of anyone who doesn't like to refer people to a company they've had a positive experience with.

There is one big aspect that most overlook, a lot of us assume our customers remember us, name co name etc. It's really important to get your name in front of your old customers a couple times a year, newsletter, announce seasonal service offerings, etc.

Make sure they remember who to refer!

  8. If you want to sell high end and high quality (ie:high price) you will be better served by meeting them in person and not mentioning price in the call at all.

When starting out it's better to not try to prescreen, you will learn more about selling and your customer base by meeting with everyone.

You'll end up with some who will waste your time and want a $99 wash but you'll also learn from these types too.

  9. Do you remove all signs, or just signs of other washers?

William for some reason my public service spirit only comes out when I see a pressure washing sign.

Actually it seems to be just one co that does it and they put them everywhere, it's a disgrace. The other co's that I've seen have been on customers property and I would NEVER touch them, those are legitimate as far as I'm concerned.

  10. Back to the topic. If the sign is on a public right of way, not a customers property, here in NJ it is illegal.

When I remove signs from a public right of way I am doing a community service, and I will continue to do so.

If one of the guys is with me at a red light and a sign is right next to us I want that sign in my trash bin in the back of the truck in a safe and quick manner.

    Keep America beautiful people!

  11. Okay - so I'll be the first to post one of thousands of bad jokes now circulating ........

Farrah died & went to heaven. There she met God and was given one wish. She asked for all of the children of the world to be safe, so he killed Michael Jackson.

    You started it Celeste!

Farrah, Ed McMahon, and Michael Jackson are in heaven and St Peter asks what they expect for the 4th of July.

    They all say, Patrick Swazye.
