Trex decks
Dave O replied to Jeffrey Abrams's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I worked in a lumber yard as a manager when alot of this started being sold in my area. The reasons I heard the most from customers was: #1 No splinters #2 No Rotting #3 The Jones had it. #4 Wouldn't dent or scrath like wood, if the kid dropped something. #5 Everyone was becoming afraid of treated lumber (Getting sick from poisoning) #6 The color and texture #7 Cedar tended to attract wasps as we noticed alot in the lumber yard. Soon customers realized: #1 The stuff will bow and crack if heavy oblects as in hot tubs are left in certain spots of the deck too long. #2 Needed more wood underneath for supporting anyways. wasn't cheap #3 That plastic will fade if in the sun and change color. As in anything. Shade and sun mixed looked funny. #4 Trex also faded in the yard, so we had to keep it covered so it wouldn't look mixmatched on a deck until it could fade. People did come back and complain about the fading saying they were not told. #5 Only certain colors are available, wont match the house is a good reason for staining. Has faded now and won't match the house is another. #6 Wood composites need staining and protection just like real wood. Some were told that it couldn't be stained, but now they say it should be. Hmmmmm. #7 Almost forgot the maintenance free part. We all know this is false for most of the composites. #8 Nothing will grow on the deck or damage the finish, and never needed cleaning. Soon some started seeing spots on the wood in full sun areas, and we know what that is. Right Everett LOL The list goes on, but you get my view since I have heard alot of it. -
At the cost of fuel. Hmmm Nope aint going to happen LOL I use the work car for bid's. Taurus $20.00 = all day Truck and Trailer to show equipment $ 20.00 = few miles The extra money for fuel for the next day working = Priceless Now I have shown the truck and trailer for large bids for demo reason only for waste water recovery procedures, but that's it.

Very kind and helpful that you posted this. I myself tend to forget how dehydrated I am when busy outdoors. Usually have the igloo cooler hooked up, but not the time to go and get a drink unitl the pain in my side tells me otherwise. Thank you for the post.

How do you get shingle tar off siding
Dave O replied to Crownroyal's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Are you talking about the shingles hitting the siding from the tear off crew letting the shingles fall without kicker boards. Or are you talking about torch down roofing where if the guys are not paying attention and let the torched product run down the customers side? The reason I ask is because I have run roofing crews during the winter and have dealt with both. The longer the second has been on the harder it will be to get off. Unless you can get it off on a 90 + day in the sun on some surfaces. -
See no need to worry. You did an awesome job. Keep up the good work. :lgsideway

Sounds Like me. Work late on something and usually I don't want to wake the neighbors though by starting it . So I just test it on the job. What drum are you going back to?
-
Alan that's not like you not to test. Are you going to cut the pump out? Glad to see that nothing happened.

Went on a little vacation and also to do some estimates. We had a nice cabin on the lake with no one around. Goofing around with the digital camera and look what I took. Never rained though every day in the upper 90's even at night. Got some work, R&R with the better half and the two dogs, and also a great picture.

Also don't forget the ones in all of your other quick connects. Surface cleaner or other spot directly on the machine. Even your hose reels if you have reels. If you have hot water machine they wear out pretty fast. MAke sure to get a bag of them, so when you blow one on the job your not in a pickle.

Quad for snow removal?
Dave O replied to Jeffrey Abrams's topic in Snow Plowing, Deicing and Holiday Lighting
It's just to much wear and tear on the four wheeler. Hitting uneven curbs and obstacles under the snow isn't good for the machine itself. IE..frame,steering,trans,etc.. We have a few for just goofing around pushing snow on our sidewalks and it hurts when you find the inmovable object in the snow. Use the couple grand and find a beater of a truck with a plow and have at it. Just have the trans and such extra important stuff checked out for excessive wear. Or you may need that snow suit for the long walk home. -

Try the search function and read and read and learn and learn then read some more while searching. Then when you think you know it search some more and read some more.

Boy I bet it looked so nice when it was wet. Handyman was so proud, and then when it started to dry he got paid and ran like the wind with the electric p/w behind him being pulled in his little red wagon. Wait it looks like they spelled something. ummmm yes that is it. It spells any home 2 for 19.99

Love my ford and also love my 454 chevy with 5th wheel hook up for my trailer and the guts or gas card to pull my trailers in the hills LOL Also the extra room for all my office stuff in the back seat.

No city can overwrite the Federal law. Nothing down any storm sewer but rain water. No exceptions to the law.

R&R floorboards?
Dave O replied to CompletelyClean's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Bryan Come to think about it I do need one replaced on the bottom of my steps. It's a 2x6 P/T. I'll be waiting, and you better not charge me travel time, since your only across the E-Way. You could probably just carry the board over here, that would save you gas. I have the tools just too lazy for the drive to H/D. You install and I'll sit and drink my coffee. LOL -
You guys are all wrong. #1 There is no rainbow in the mist of water hitting the sun. #2 He has no sunscreen on. #3 He missed the vines on the antenna. #4 He should use a smaller ladder with grease on the rungs. so am I close? LOL
