  1. Every hack in this area uses Flood Spa N Deck. I hate the stuff. Try the AC. So far so good with it.
  2. Heres a rainbow play set I just redid in St. Petersburg, FL. The original finish had mostly worn off, and the deck was rotted to the point of being unsafe. I replaced the deck with PT Pine and sealed with Wood Tux Mahogany tint.
  3. you can barely see the deck in the 4th pic. but it is pt pine. It blended really well with the cedar.
  4. This deck was with the Playset in st. Pete. I goofed on this one. After stripping the playset, the deck had lots of mildew on it. I asked HO if she wanted it cleaned off. Light bleach and lightly washed, but a little of the color came off. Knowing up front it needed to be refinished, because lots of bare areas already, I was planning on writing an estimate for future maintenance restain. The Husband called me that night and said I took off most of the old stain! And that I should restain it at cost! Now you'd assume he knew the condition before hand, but I was left with no room to argue and agreed to re stain with the original Olympic semi. It really turned out great and I was able to at least cover my helpers labor and make a little. Lesson learned the hard way!
  5. That one was hand brushed. Ive learned that even though it takes 2-3 times longer to brush instead of spray, the taping and tarping takes twice as long as the spraying so the time savings on a small deck is minimal.
  6. Havnt seen any pics of Semi Solids yet. Any one have experience with it?
  7. man thats beautiful. I wish Id see more IPE here.
  8. here they are. Had trouble loading them. I was going to use the AC Semisolid but couldnt get it in time. The WT worked really nice though. I forgot how much trouble it is when not spraying, took WAY too long to hand brush the whole thing.
  9. amen to that! Beth, How well does it cover flaws and old stain spots like in cracks. Customer wants the lightest color possible and the sample chips Scott sent me dont do that mountain cedar justice. It looks real nice.
  10. I have to say that the Problem Solver stripper worked very well on their Acrylic SPF applied on IPE. Took several applications in some areas but it did work
  11. larry, thats a fantastic looking deck. I have to vote for my own picture, so I at least get one vote, but you deserve to win with that deck!
  12. I did a couple of decks in a row with the makita, took a year for my back to recover. Ive used the square buff before and it will really only do very light sanding even with 36 grit. just doesnt take off enough wood. this pic is my deck with new stairs and stair rails. AC Semi cedar. can barely tell the difference, but the old wood is 19years old and never sees the sun. OK My computer wont allow me into my picture file, so I cant post it. sorry. I did another one where I replaced about a third of the boards, sanded with the sq. buff and applied WT WHG. I was appalled at how it looked and was ready to strip it again, when the customer said " I love it" so I was off the hook.
  13. Thompsons water seal would make that deck the Bomb!
  14. Thanks, That means I win, Scott. Already got the vote. I dont really take the little ones like this. This tiny deck took me 25-30 hrs between stripping the paint, sanding the shredded spindles and replacing the stair rails and stairs. This was my own deck right outside my office. for a customer, I would NOT have stripped the spindles, and would have to charge a minimum of $800 to make it worth the two trips for a 4X15 deck. Plus, I am the worlds worst carpenter, at least 8 hours just to replace the wood. I measure 4 times and still have to cut twice.
  15. that looks very nice. Good work. Fair price, especially since you could do the work at your leisure.
  16. What's your favorite coffee?

Folgers Black Silk. Very rich and bold for a cheap grocery store coffee.
  17. Sunday's - My only day of no stress!

My eyes were first drawn to the mildew on the wood next to that planter. Shame on me. but a habit I cant seem to get rid of!
  18. Here is mine. Had to rebuild the steps and rails on steps, The balustrades had two coats paint on them and the were shredded when done, but sanded easily. this has two coats of Semi-trans, cedar. Id have to say I really like this stuff. The wood really sucks it in, and no shiny areas from lack of absorbtion.
  19. The customer told me it was Bali Teak. It was very, Very hard wood. Six coats rubbed in to get the glossy finish. I have pine floors in my house, They are very soft. Drop a quarter and it will leave a mark.
  20. Truck completely burned up

Man that Sucks, Charlie. I'll pray you get back on your feet quickly. Maybe take an add in the local paper as a way for customers to know and contact you.
  21. Help stripping old sealer off stamped concrete

Scotts right. That sometimes works well. avoids stripping it. I didnt know you had that, Scott.
  22. It is going to be time consuming, as said before. lots of sanding. here are a teak table and chairs done with wood tux. Table has 6 coats on it, rubbed in like regular furniture stain. The table had an acrylic on it and needed serious sanding, the chairs just cleaning. I havnt used RS but like the Wood Tux for ease of use.
  23. Help stripping old sealer off stamped concrete

Dads easy strip will take it off. Its expensive but you roll it on, or use an airless. then PW off. Its the strongest thing Ive seen, but is nasty stuff. be prepared for some dead grass, and wear a full body condom, (PPE)
  24. Not all work...

You dont look like your having that much fun! Im sure he told you that if you hurl, it covers you first then the instructor? Airborne! HooRah!
