Thanks guys, Called at Bob Pressure teckand he hooked me up with 300'roll.

vented my burner as in the pic below. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2556&d=1125682610 The problem was it caused back pressure and burned the ignitor out. Was told by the mechanic to leave a space between bottom of vent and top of burner, so as to create a venturi effect. also to only use straight pipe. Other problems caused were a severe build up of soot and (because of another problem, a build up of unburned deisel.) the stuff is still burning off after 4-5 uses. made a great show at night with the flames. .Anyway, moral of story, vent carefully.
-
I did cut out the grill to get better flow, but I think im just going to leave it openand not vent it. the position at the rear of my trailer is such that I only have a little soot on the back corner of the ceiling. With the side door open, there is enough air going through so that I can get inside for a few minutes with out asphixiating. and its not usially burning when im inside the trailer a. anyway . Don, I hope this is the last of the problems. Other than burner problems and a starter switch, Ive been real happy with this machine.

this deck is about 6 years old, never sealed. front was just grayed out, but back had serious mildew and bread mold growth. (I know it was bread mold because the guy was a retired biologist and schooled me.)

heres the final pics. Ended up using Deckscapes solid. Probably a better choice anyway since its 6in off the sand, in full sun, so it takes a hell of a beating. Never could figure out what was on there but it was water based. Paint stripper would take it off, but had over 1500sf that would have to be stripped by hand. The home owners are happy, it was profitable, although not as much as I hoped. The spiral staircaises were murder, both when stripping-as they were very soft wood, (red dedar maybe) -and had to be stained by hand, spraying or I would have had to spend double the time masking. -
no big deal over here. Just windy. It was a good fast mover and came ashore in a lowly populated area. winds on the north side will be the problem, Ft. Meyers, South central florida, etc.

dont know what that is. But you have to have chemical to make the steam work, The steam alone will just produce a gummy mess (pun intended.) Its the combination that makes the gum disolve.

Gumbusters sells their machines for $5995, gum zap $7995, Goodway for $4995, less if you can talk them down. Goodways is identical to Gumbusters machine, (not the one above.) The one in the link above for goodway is for ocasional use and aimed at the commercial market, not for the contractor and I wouldnt recommend it. Gum busters was a great concept, however only a few areas have been able to make a go of it as a stand alone business, The guy in DC/Baltimore does great as does NYC, (NYC franchise is owned by the transit authority.) I have told this to all who call me, make sure you research the market carefully. If your in an area that demands recovery or that PW is a real problem, this machine is great and you can do well with commercial clients. My initial push was for facilities that did thier pw in house, or had a contractor that used cold water or damaged concrete in thier attempts to remove gum. Since I got my skid unit, almost all gum removal is done as I PW. Got to add alot of those in house guys to regular PW also. Rarely use the gum machine anymore and use it mostly to clean grout. Again, happy to talk to anyone about this or PM me.

man talk about timing. I just got a call from a Fac Mgr with 6 bank locations from clearwater to venice, (about 125 miles apart.) wanted to see if I was interested in doing regular maintenance, PW, window cleaning, etc. Dont usually travel that far, but I told him Id put some #s together and see if it made sense for both of us. This will be a good way to cover travel time.
-
Ditto. Thats why I added Pressure washing to the GumBusters work, Still there are some clients that insist on PW themselvs so I just do the gum. mark, Feel free to call me at 727-432-2501 or PM me, will be happy to answer questions, and I have another source for the machines that are cheaper than gumbusters. Indentical machine.

Whine, Whine, Whine Put your trailer on a bicycle and start pedaling. Its amazing how many out there crow about getting $100 an hour, but cant suck up a long overdue price increase. Gas here is dropping about 5 cents a week for the last month. Even when the futures price went up $2 a barrell last tuesday, the price of gas was down another 2-3 cents the next day. Anybody want to complain that the gas stations are continuing to decrese prices in the face of increasing crude price paid by the greedy big oil companies? Didnt think so.

Its rare that a foriegner can see the real picture since all they get is the negative, incorrect stuff from CNN the NY times etc. this guy gets it right. George Bush, The Man David Warren…The Ottawa Citizen Sunday, September 11, 2005 There's plenty wrong with America, since you asked. I'm tempted to say that the only difference from Canada is that they have a few things right. That would be unfair, of course -- I am often pleased to discover things we still get right. But one of them would not be disaster preparation. If something happened up here, on the scale of Katrina, we wouldn't even have the resources to arrive late. We would be waiting for the Americans to come save us, the same way the government in Louisiana just waved and pointed at Washington, D.C. The theory being that, when you're in real trouble, that's where the adults live. And that isn't an exaggeration. Almost everything that has worked in the recovery operation along the U.S. Gulf Coast has been military and National Guard. Within a few days, under several commands, finally consolidated under the remarkable Lt.-Gen. Russell Honore, it was once again the U.S. military efficiently cobbling together a recovery operation on a scale beyond the capacity of any other earthly institution. We hardly have a military up here. We have elected one feckless government after another that has cut corners until there is nothing substantial left. We don't have the ability even to transport and equip our few soldiers. Should disaster strike at home, on a big scale, we become a Third World country. At which point, our national smugness is of no avail. From Democrats and the American Left -- the U.S. equivalent to the people who run Canada -- we are still hearing that the disaster in New Orleans showed that a heartless, white Republican America had abandoned its underclass. This is garbage! The great majority of those not evacuated lived in assisted housing and receive food stamps, prescription medicine and government support through many other programs. Many have, all their lives, expected someone to lift them to safety, without input from themselves. And the demagogic mayor they elected left, quite literally, hundreds of transit and school buses that could have driven them out of town parked in rows, to be lost in the flood. Yes, that was insensitive. But it is also the truth; and sooner or later we must acknowledge that welfare dependency creates exactly the sort of haplessness and social degeneration we saw on display, as the floodwaters rose. Many suffered terribly, and many died, and one's heart goes out. But already the survivors are being put up in new accommodations, and their various entitlements have been directed to new locations. The scale of private charity has also been unprecedented. There are yet no statistics, but I'll wager the most generous state in the union will prove to have been arch-Republican Texas and that, nationally, contributions in cash and kind are coming disproportionately from people who vote Republican. For the world divides into "the mouths" and "the wallets." The Bush-bashing, both down there and up here, has so far lost touch with reality, as to raise questions about the bashers' state of mind. (YES, RIGHT ON BROTHER WARREN) Consult any authoritative source on how government works in the United States and you will learn that the U.S.federal government's legal, constitutional, and institutional responsibility for first response to Katrina, as to any natural disaster, was zero. Notwithstanding, President Bush took the prescient step of declaring a disaster, in order to begin deploying FEMA and other federal assets, two full days in advance of the storm fall. In the little time since, he has managed to co-ordinate an immense recovery operation -- the largest in human history -- without invoking martial powers. He has been sufficiently presidential to respond, not even once, to the extraordinarily mendacious and childish blame-throwing. One thinks of Kipling's poem IF -- which I learned to recite as a lad, and mention now in the full knowledge that it drives postmodern leftoids and gliberals to apoplexy -- as does anything that is good, beautiful, or true. IF If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise . Unlike his critics, Bush is a man, in the full sense presented by these verses. A fallible man, like all the rest, but a man.

I thought this might happen. some of these decks( at least one so far) have a primer under the sealer. The sealer is coming off with F-18 and HD 80. but its a real bugger. This primer coat isnt budging. Any ideas? Again, no idea what the sealer is or the primer. Oh, by the way, no damage to any paint from the stripper. Covered the glass door with a tarp. -

Until I get to the point that I hire someone part time or FT, I'll remain an illigitimate business. Fortunately, my customers dont see me as that. Ive only lost 2 small commercial jobs because of that issue. Fully 50% if my work this year has been commercial and its not been an issue, as long as my workers are covered, and I bring on a day laborer or a temp laborer, who has WC coverage through the labor company. So far its worked great.

First of all I love GWB. and am conservative to the core, But this is ablolutely one of the funniest pictures Ive seen in a long time. Only the libs will think this is true.

I need to strip a 2nd story deck (small, about 75sf) that is above a sliding glass door. I will use F-18max and it will need to be strong. How should I, and with what should I cover the door, and mask the walls that wont be eaten up by the stripper. Then when I stain, what then.

10.5 percent pool chlorine mixed at 7gal to 10 of water. CH is hard to mix stronger than that, because of the solubility problem. it was quite a bit cheaper as far as cost per gallon go. but the time factor makes it much more expensive. Most times, I dont have to rinse liquid chlorine. not so with powdered CH.

deck and dock on intercoastal
Chappy posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
finished these this week. used f-18 to strip and oxalic to brighten. Flood Spa-n-deck, chestnut. I had a real hard time keeping the wood damp for the first coat. I did get to use my new airless. I did the 1st coat on the dock with a pumpup sprayer. took way to long, so I brought in the airless. man what a time saver. -

If the 2 month red tide outbreak hasnt killed them, the stripper wont. I did see a dolphin floating belly up about 10 feet away. I took my extension wand and pushed him out farther so no one would blame me. Just kidding folks. -

'Dont ask dont tell', thats a great policy. I didnt keep it out, fortunately there is little if no enforcement here. this is my first experience with acrylic. Well see how it lasts
