  1. Is this a good deal?

Since someone else asked first, i dont feel so stupid for not knowing. What is FWIW SWAG FUBAR?
  2. avioding window

I recently did a couple of window jobs that were very profitable. $400and $300 with 5 hours on first one and 3 on second. I try to get the customer to tell me details about the windows and how many there are before I go and estimate. If I think its going to work out to less than $100 for the job I decline to estimate. The ones I do go out and estimate, I land a good percentage and end up with other work from it. Same with the gutter cleaning.
  3. What do you think about my logo?

I like it. very creative. Ryan, you've got way to much time on your hands.
  4. He was supposed to be sending me an order. Havnt received it yet. Do you have his number?
  5. Florida based companies.

I wish I could help with a connection. Disney has just gotten so expensive. But if you have to spend the money, spend extra and stay on site. Being able to leave for a couple of hours for some down time and still being able to come back with out having to fight traffic is priceless! Happy twirling.
  6. I have to do a bid on a Trex deck. Lady had a sheet from Trex, suggesting clean with Sodium Hypochlorite and then treat with Olympic Mildew Check. Any one heard of it? Good or bad. What else can you use on trex to prevent mildew? This lady has a dock made of trex that is 10 yeears old on the gulf of Mexico. looks like its brand new. Has never been cleaned or treated in any way. the stuff by the house that was added 6 months ago is dirty and mildewy. Any thoughts are appreciated.
  7. i found the Olympic mildew check today. Sounds like what they sent John Orr. Its an alkaline cleaner that you add bleach to and clean. im not going to try and seal it. She already knows it needs to be cleaned regularly.
  8. A while back some one asked about pine needles in screens. I had a chance to do one that had a needle sticking through just about every single hole! I used my roto max to clean it after scraping off the acumulation from the top. I worked like a charm. The needles just fly out. I kept the tip at least a foot away from the screen to avoid damage. I couldnt believe the weight of this pile hadnt broken through on its own. I used an extension wand for above the pool. Man are my neck and shoulders tired.
  9. pine needles in pool screen

about 3.5 hours. did gutters too, they had 6 inch ferns growing out about every 6 inches. absolutely packed full of roots and needles. total on the job 5.5 hours.
  10. pine needles in pool screen

here are some after shots, hard to see cause of the lighting
  11. Profit In Power Washing

I read it. Has a couple of good tips but nothing that you cant pick up here and on other boards, plus trial and error on your own part. Dont waste the 30 bucks.
  12. How much?

    Who ya gonna call? GumBusters
  13. HD-80 on concrete

I havnt been really thrilled with using hd 80 on concrete, maybe i need to let it dwell more. trouble is that anything put on concrete is dry in 5 minutes here. Ill have to give it another try.
  14. A big decision but sad one

Dale, Im glad you can see where your priorities should be. I dont know how you guys that work full time and also run this type of business can do it. Your input has been invaluable and you will be missed.
  15. XJets

looks like someone is running a loss leader. or got a deal from the manufacturer. However, since beth pays for this board, I dont think we should be posting competetors prices here. theres other boards for that.
  16. Hurricanes are killing me

I have been getting some calls on gutter cleanouts. but roof work is starting to pick up again. Keep it quite about jeanne though. so far no ones thinking about it here in pinellas county so Im not about to mention it. If I had an empty trailer Id definately be cutting wood.
  17. Hurricane Frances

After 19 years here, I still cant figure why people talk about florida as paradise. Its flat,(Putting it in the worst catagory for a mountain boy), Muggy for 9 months of the year. covered in crocodiles,(which does keep the poodle population under control though,) mosquitos are outnumbered only by the roaches, and sharks in every good swimming or surfing area, and the highest population of blue hairs in the country. And of course the hurricanes. Boy do I miss the mountains of NC right now. Shouldnt have married a native floridian. Que sera.
  18. taxes

I just bought peechtree accounting 2005 so I could write my own checks instead of using a leasing company. trouble is, they charge an extra $179 for the tax tables. Is this normal?? Does quicken charge for these also? Anyone know where they can be gotten so I can manually load them into the program?
  19. Hurricane Frances

thats exactly what I told her, just with out the ye's and 'eth's.
  20. Hurricane Frances

We just got a lot of small limbs blown around, the whole thing just missed us to the north. Charlie missed to the south. My kids were asking how God answered prayers. and of course my response was that he kept us safe and no damage. But of course my chimes in,"what about those people with just as much faith that were wiped out, or died?" tough theological question, huh? Another one on the way too.
  21. Need an idea.

I ran across a guy recently that did that, He was out cleaning a Bennigans type place. had a trailer with a low pressure chem setup, and a set of hooks that he set the blinds on, sprayed chem,(dk what kind.) added a squirt of goof off to heavy stains, then rinsed. then hung on another set of hooks to dry. Another guy was busy, taking down and reinstalling while he cleaned. looked pretty efficient. I think he said he got an avg of $6.00 per blind. some of those restaurant blinds can be pretty big so probably have to have 2 people to take down and install. But this was his only business, so from what I gathered he did pretty well. Oh yeah, I believe it was a franchise. You could probably come up with the chems, on a triall and error basis. probably a non-butyl degreaser with a surfectant would work. and get a welder to set up some hangers on your trailor. Good luck. hope this helps
  22. Hey jesse, You should call when you get down. Love to meet you for a beer or three and good cigar in Ybor. Gotta tell you though, niether Ybor city or the parades (night or family) are a place you want to bring kids to.) Great place to party if your young and like the club scene though. There are some good cafes and cigar outlets there for a more quite lunch or dinner setting.
  23. tired of the summer heat and the long hours, try these occupations for a living. [/url]
  24. quit complaining about your job

I was at a zoo one time, and just as we came around a corner by the elephant pen, one of them passed gas. He was facing away from us. I swear it sounded like thunder and lasted a good 15 seconds. good thing we were about 30 feet away!
  25. quit complaining about your job
