Chappy replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Actually thats very interesting, Looking at some of the pictures of your work, youd never think those decks are PT. I guess Ive just never seen a well Maintained deck. I just had a thought. Im going up to NC in june and my father has a big deck. I think Ill Practice on his. Ill Call for advice before I go and have product shipped there. -

Thanks, B&R Thats a little far for me, But I have thought about it when I saw you offer some one else.. I get the impression that most of the decks up there are hard woods. But every one Ive seen down here is Pressure Treated, (pine?) I would think the techniques would be different along with the stains. I will keep your offer in mind. -
Terrorism risk insurance is not mandatory. Sounds like your company is trying to slide one in on you and hope you dont catch it. Definately call Joe Walters. http://www.irmi.com/Insights/Articles/2002/Woodward12.aspx

Registering Name With State/Licensing
Chappy replied to kmcliffo's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I went to the tax office to change registration, the lady took a look at my account and said "why are you collecting tax?" so after much questioning she unregistered my tax number. Apparently the consider PW to be 'improving real property.' I was always under the impression only homeowners were exempt unless you added paint. Trouble is you cant find any one person that is competant to tell you everything. Check with the local office at Arbor Shoreline Office Park 19337 US Hwy 19N Ste 200 Clearwater 727-538-7400 -
Registering Name With State/Licensing
Chappy replied to kmcliffo's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Thanks Ken. Dont know why I havnt checked into the city. I did find out that all pressure washing services in fl are exempt from sales tax. I have been collecting for a year from commercial clients. I hate it when gov't gives you bad info. Im just glad I dont have to submit to the state for a refund and send back to all those customers. I wonder how many bids I lost out on because I showed the amount of tax and the others didnt.? -
This is funny. ( in no way does it reflect my personal beliefs.) BUSH, CHENEY DIFFER OVER WHO’S ON FIRST Confusing Dialogue Dominates 9/11 Testimony The closed-door testimony of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney before the 9/11 commission went off the rails yesterday when Mr. Bush opened the session by asking Mr. Cheney, “Who’s on first?” The President, who merely wanted to know whether he or Vice-President Cheney should testify first, inadvertently opened a rhetorical Pandora’s box as the entire session devolved into a series of tangled misunderstandings and miscues. A transcript of the session, released by the commission later in the day, reads as follows: Bush: Who’s on first? Cheney: What? Bush: Not what, who. Cheney: Who what? Bush: Who’s on first? Cheney: That’s what you just said. Bush: ****? Cheney: What? Bush: ****’s on first? Cheney: Which ****? Bush: Which **** what? Cheney: Which dickwad? Bush: No! Cheney: Which dickwad knows what? Bush: Never mind. Cheney: Never mind which dickwad knows what? Bush: Which dickwad knows who’s on first. Cheney: What? Bush: Who’s on first? Cheney: That’s what you just said. Bush: (smacks forehead) Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney continued in a similar vein for the next forty minutes, after which the commissioners, “thoroughly drained and exhausted” according to one account, cut short the session and went home. In a related story, the White House announced that on June 30 Iraqi sovereignty would be transferred to Vice-President Cheney’s bank account in Switzerland. “The sovereignty will remain in Vice-President Cheney’s account until the security situation in Iraq improves, but the Iraqi people can come visit it whenever they want,” the White House statement read. **** BOROWITZ AT THE TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL **** Andy Borowitz moderates the panel “Politics as Entertainment” Sunday May 9 at the Tribeca Film Festival. PW- Starting Out- Tips Please??
Chappy replied to kmcliffo's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Ryan, Where you get all the time and energy to do all this and still write your soliloquies, I just cant figure. However, you have some of the best, well thought out advice and it is appreciated that you take the time to put it into words for us. Thanks to others also. this board is amazing! (Cant believe I spelled soliloquies right the first time.) -
I talked to a salesmen at Higher power, the snappy anchors are disposable in that you nail or bolt them to the crown of the roof and anchor there then just leave the anchors. Doesnt sound very practical. and couldnt use on tile obviously, but the said it is the only OSHA approved way.

Just talking to a paint store today about that. nothing kills as well as bleach, household bleach has surfectants in it, pool clorine does not.

My first time out, I came home, took off my redwings and noticed the eigth inch deep gouge in the toe leather where I passed the wand across it, Didnt even notice it. Cant imagine what my toe would look like if I had sandals on.

couldnt tell you, I was hoping someone else would know. I may call them and ask. will let you know if I find out. I need to get something. I slipped the other day on a roof and fortunatly only got a cut. Ive always been the most sure footed guy I know, but some of these roofs scare me, especially when whet with chemical.

I was just looking into this last night and found this http://www.higherpowersupplies.com/page/HPS/PROD/SA-R/GFP-00720 It looks like everything you need except the rope. another page has strap on rubber sandals.

Question, can HD80 be used as a cleaner for other purposes, tile roofs, house wash, concrete etc...? or is it mainly good only for stripping wood

Need sub help? Looking for work? Post it here!
Chappy replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Contractor Help Wanted - Job Leads
Just went full time this month and could use extra work. Any one in need of a sub in the Pinellas county or Tampa FL area? I am fully equiped with 4gpm,4000psi cold water trailer and insured. I currently do a lot of tile roofs, driveway cleaning and painting and guarantee all my work. If anyone does commercial flat work and has a hard time removing chewing gum, I have a specialty business that does just gum removal, you keep the PW work. Jon, Have you tried the guards that painters use when using an airless gun? they have handles and come in different lengths. may work for what you need them for.

I was cleaning an awning last week, and every time I looked up to brush i got drips right in the eyeball. Fortunatly it was well watered down clorine. But never atain, Im getting a safety shield or goggles. ! Jon Chapman

reminds me of the story recently of the man who died in the hospital. the way the family found out was when they got the bill! Man was missing for weeks and the family had no idea where he was. The hospital said they didnt know where to find the family- yet the bill got there with no problem.

I just changed over to Joe Walters agency. about $1150 for 1mil covg. very helpfull and knowledgeable. My local agent didnt really know how to underwrite it and wasnt very helpful so needed to change. My only problem with JW agency is that they dont write 5 mil covg. and I had a lock on a commercial property if I carried that ammount. Had to let it go, since Im not going to shop around again. What is the purpose of the lance. What makes it different from the wands. are there circumstances that it is necessary? Just curious?
