  1. Looks great. If thats the type of work you guys turn out, you have nothing to worry about.
  2. Cleaner Times WOW

retarded: To be delayed or impeded....I think you are reading too much into it, Dan. Political correctness dictates that they should have opted for a more current phrase but the tone and intention of the article was positive. The whole PC thing cracks me up. This is not directed at you Dan, just a hijack of my own rant. Every day I hear people complain about PC. The same person that complains this article was written with no sensitivity will without hesitation call a black person that word they love so much. As for myself, I don't go around calling people this-and-that Americans. Either you are an American or you aren't. I could care less where your ancestors came from.
  3. I haven't tried the product Jarrod is talking about yet but we spoke at length about it.I have been using HD-80 mixed full strength, boosted with an additive (Extreme Solutions sells it) and downstreamed using a dual lance wand. The deck gets wet and stays wet much better. No dried stripper means less fuzzies. I don't care what pump you are using, there is no way any of the 12V ones can match the output you get with your machine. You can apply chems to a 500 s/f deck in five minutes and use about half a bucket of stripper (if that)
  4. pressurepros@mail.com if you are interested.
  5. Veddy nice, young grasshoppa. You are ready. The fastest way is to get yourself a good pump to get your chemicals on, or my preferred method is to downstream. When you are downstreaming chems at 5.5 gpm application is almost as fast as you can move your arms.
  6. too much acid on brick

Did you wet the brick first? You should always wet a masonry substrate before applying acid. You are on the right track at Aldon. Also look at Eaco Chem.
  7. NO 12%, HELP research

Jeff, they are just misinformed. Let them know you are very methodical about rinsing. If bleach caused things to dry out, I would open my boots to a pile of sawdust every night. Vinyl siding is made to stand up to the rigors of exterior elements. Let them know you will use a very low dilution of bleach (2% does the trick with the right soap), This is your opportunity to downstream. As an added benefit you could add a scent or ask Bob at Pressure Tek about his new cleaner.
  8. I got this this afternoon. Anyone in this area interested. It is near the Delaware border about 15-20 miles SW of Philly. Dear Ken Fenner, A homeowner has sent a new project to Contractor.com which might interest you.Homeowner's description of this project is:We have a commercial building that we need painted primed and scraped. 100 feet high in some areas Project site is located in: Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, 19061 The cost to purchase this lead: $30.00 (from contractor.com not from me)
  9. an oh s**t moment...

Yes, Neil, it is a very fine microabrasive that is buffed on and off. You could do it yourself if you have a variable speed polisher.
  10. "partial" house wash?

And when the people in neighboring houses see you working but all they notice is the unclean parts of the house? Thats great advertising for how anxious you were to give the customer what she wanted.
  11. an oh s**t moment...

The cloud of doom will surprise you in its voracity for travel. Be very careful with Krud Kutter. I would take it to a detail shop and have them buff it out. Anything that will remove the sealer is going to remove the clear coat. I'm not a fleet guy but having cars I meticulously detailed over the years I think you are better with a fine abrasive.
  12. vinyl siding

Welcome to the board. Its too hard to say without seing it. I am guessing if it is streaky due to washing the paint was very oxidized. Adding a high pH cleaning solution to this could only make it worse. Do a search on 'oxidation' on this website. We use a two step technique on aluminum siding homes to avoid this happening (acid/caustic). On vinyl if there is evidence of oxidation we use only 2% sodium hypochlorite hitting the house with a high quality, mild car wash mix
  13. first WTW job

I would quote about $2100 for a deck that size including PITA factor and materials.
  14. first WTW job

If you are talking about just measuring the deck floor, I quote approx $2.35 per s/f. That includes all labor and materials. Every first time job is a strip. Even if it is just grey you are still aplying chemical and washing every inch of it.
  15. Best Solid Deck Stain??

    Cabots. Prime it first.
  16. first WTW job

Doug, great job. Mine must be the only market where people hate the stock WT color.
  17. I did this house as a favor two years ago. At that time I stripped the whole thing and sealed it with Deckscapes Cedar Bark (You have to use this, it's dicatated by HOA) The problem is this. It was a collegaue of my Aunt's. I charged ridiculously low now she wants it resealed and I would have to almost quadruple my price to make it worth the travel. The house is a condominium style so its front and back. There is also a front porch and a back deck that is ten feet off the ground. You have neighbors on each side. A crew of four guys can finish it in a day. If you are solo, I would guess at least three trips. Oh yeah there is also a chimney that is set back but still visible. you have to climb to get to that. I'll look for pics and post later.
  18. Seasonal Employees

I don't worry about it too much, Lance. You know as well as I do that business ownership takes a certain type of individual. It's like watching a PGA player swing from the tee. They make it look easy. Then you get out there and hack, cut and slice your way to a 50 yard drive and it suddenly isn't as much fun as it looked like. I don't want a Yale business major, just a dedicated, non drug using, shows up on time, I-take-pride-in-my-work type of person. A driver's license is nice too.
  19. Seasonal Employees

This is the main reason I added interior renovations and painting to my repetoire. I also tell anyone I am planning to hire full time that they may very well have off for the month of December. This is the primary reason I am having a hard time growing to where I should.
  20. Omaha May Get a New Woodie!

    Scott, you're in!
  21. 20 something Kohl's storefronts

You must have never tried it John. I agree it is overpriced but there is nothing like it out there. Their ice cream is pheomenal every flavor is the real deal. Come on out to PA. Christine's family just bought one.
  22. defurring and sanding tools

Doug, Yes, it is good for spraying tight areas where you don't want a ton of overspray. It has a nice flow. They break too often too use for every job but they are good backups.
  23. defurring and sanding tools

We don't usually use duct tape, I didn't even notice that. I was at the dollar store the other day and loaded up on a few rolls. I guess the guys saw it and figured it was fair game. What do you use, Rod? We usually use masking tape. Have you found anything that holds better and deosn't leave residue? I love the ladder..great for interior work too. and yes, that lattice was a little tedious.
  24. defurring and sanding tools

We did a job today (PTP) that had furred horribly. It was supposed to be one day clean and seal. I used sodium percarbonate downstreamed, very little dwell time and a 6510. with long, smooth, rapid washing action. You can't always predict what causes the fuzzies. Rod nailed it. This wood was year and a half old new construction that was in direct sun morning to night and was never treated. We use Osborne brushes to buff.
