  1. Is my 8.4% really 12%?

Why would you want a refund? You got what you paid for. 12% does not stay 12% for long. What you were told is the truth. The mnaufacturer is just doing c.y.a to allow for distributors storing the product and then selling it in its weaked form.
  2. My bid made customer faint

Okay guys, I have the three requests. Look for them over the weekend. I have to cut it off there though. Maybe any of these guys can be kind and forward it for those that want to take a peek.
  3. Everyone tired?

I actually got a little wand time today. A loyal customer asked for a favor. Schedule was't permitting so I grabbed a portable and did it for her myself. It wasn't the smartest idea as I'm still recuperating from a car accident and now I am sore as hell but I couldn't resist the urge. I forgot what its like to smell like a pool cabana. Kevin, hire a landscaper. I don't even own a lawnmower. Not worth my time. We have five jobs to finish this weekend to stay on track for the month. Feast or famine. Enjoy the feast.
  4. Hey Kev, since Russell sells the booster I don't want to step on his toes but if you use HD-80 and ask him he will probably tell you the "secret" ingredients. You're on the right track ;-)
  5. new to downstreaming

Change to a smaller orifice 0 degree but still stay low pressure. What size pump are you using?
  6. You midwest guys got it made. I'm only gonna give you $750K and you have to cover shipping.
  7. My bid made customer faint

Chaz, Send me your email addy and I will forward you an estimating spread sheet.
  8. Don, I use HD-80 beefed with ________ and ________ glycol. It costs me $65 for 30 gallons and does 8-10 decks so the economy is there. It does the trick but to hear J-Rod talk about the chem station stuff I wanted to give it a try. I honestly prefer storing powders but I am open minded to anything that will increase efficiency.
  9. Pricing for decks

A 10x20 deck is going to be approximately 425-475 s/f of wood counting rails, a couple of step and fascia. Charging (cheaply) at $.75/s.f. to strip/clean/pH balance, $.55 to seal and $.30 in materials still brings you to approximately $720. If you are in Glen Mils, PA you can easily get that rate. I get a little more. But, if you want to charge the rates you listed, I have plenty of work I can sub to you.
  10. Last year I switched to downstreaming on stripper as well. I want to try Jarrod's formula but for some reason this company cannot get it together to get me a sample. Don, did you notice a significant differnce in effectiveness between Steve's and Jarrod's formula?
  11. Hang-time

I'd willing to try it out but as foam holds less moisture per given physical measurement than a pure liquid, I'm guessing on a hot deck evaporation would be an issue.
  12. My bid made customer faint

Send him my way. I will sell him everything he needs so he can bust hump and do it himself then call you halfway through and apologize because he didn't realize how much was involved in it. Charlie, what other way is there to bid it? Everything that was mentioned has to be cleaned and stained. FWIW: I was told by a certain stain manufacturer whom has lost touch with the real world that I was low balling and that I should raise my prices. At my current pricing I wouldn't have touched it for less than $4500.
  13. Hang-time

Ant, won't work outdoors. Decks are too hot and air dries the foam out too quickly. Woodies need the snot.
  14. solid stain mess

I take them. 2.5 times the price for a semi because we have to clean, scrape, prime and two coat. Requires three visits.
  15. Keeping Restora in the stores

My only problem with the Restora is with my Workman's Comp. Not classified to be on exterior ladders and reclassifying would negate any add-on profit potential. I know Terry is a painter and probably has the right classification. Any info would be appreciated. I am all for add-on services.
  16. Another ipe job - Western NY

anyone? This is a very hot lead. Good portfolio work.
  17. Wax additive for vinyl

I have always thought of the whole adding wax to your house wash mix as hocus pocus. Won't sodium metasilicate and other caustics (including the bleach) break it down?
  18. business card feedback

Sure did. On a separate note, I respect your rights to "make a stand" so to speak. I make my stand in business by crushing anyone that comes between me and my ability to earn. I don't take business lightly. I am also a God loving person. I don't cheat anyone. I try to always be a stand up person. I'm just a firm believer in separating religion and politics from business. Thats why I stay out of those types of threads on here. Thirty percent of my biz comes from non-christians. I have to stay neutral.
  19. business card feedback

The card looks good. The background is very similar to my RAD label. I approach this next topic like I am holding a gasoline soaked rag entering the gates of hell.. Religious affiliation, political affiliation, sexual orientation etc has no place in business. If it serves to win one customer, it will alienate 20. If it is your intention to only service those that are Christians then I understand. If your goal is to market your company to people qualified to pay for your level of care, I would rethink this one.
  20. $50,000 Start up for a new Org./Business plan

John, $50K is probably not nearly enough. It might get you some interest from other venture capitalists whom could match funds but I'm guessing $500K might be a more accurate number if not also a bit conservative. I respect and admire your willingness to better this industry but this is not the right time. The industry isn't sure what it wants or needs. Something good is going to be borne of these round tables. $50K is a lot of money, I'd hate to see you sink your heart into something that has so many factors going against it.
  21. alternative to bleach on houses

Ditch the X-Jet.. why? Because the original poster said he had problems with overspray damaging plant life. That occured because he used the X-Jet. It creates a mist that gets carried by breeze. In addition he makes his mixes too strong which is very easy to do using an X-Jet. Thus.... ditch the X-Jet. I don't say throw it away, its a good tool, its just not neccessary for washing vinyl.
  22. Increase that professional industry edge

This is the difference between a start up company and buying a franchise. I have passed on a ton of information that has been taught to me and that I have learned in almost 18 years of owning start up companies, retail businesses and franchises. There is also just as much information that I have held back that would take many companies to the next level. That detailed info isn't now and won't ever be free.
  23. Ouch !!

Jim, actually five jobs were completed in my absence. I am a little behind in estimates but everyone has been very nice so far. I thank God for my new operations guy Jay who really stepped up to the plate this week. After this season, I am going to train him in estimating practice and PressurePros is on its own. This is the way I run every business I have ever been involved in. Anything else is a job.
  24. alternative to bleach on houses

Definitely water the plants and ditch the X-Jet. Sounds like your mix is too strong.
  25. Ouch !!

Thanks guys/gal. I'll be fine. If you send up any prayers tonight please send them for the eldely gentleman whom did not come out of this as well. He passed away at the wheel prior to our collision. It has me a little messed up emotionally.
