If you are not sending employees inside a property, its not neccessary to be bonded. It covers a homeowner/business against employee theft.

I am also unsure what your post was saying Wayne. Are you a BOD member, on the membership drive committee or just want to see one org grow to become truly representative of our industry?

Good morning, Jeff. Someone gave me this advice and it was good advice so I am going to pass this on. On your website the very first link takes you to a different site. From a marketing standpoint that may be a bad idea. Your goal with your website should be to prequalify and sell. People are both easily distracted and click happy. Just a heads up, please pardon the unsolicited advice. PS: Just tried to go back to check your page further and the site is down. -

HD-80 and lots of Fuzzies
PressurePros replied to krpalex's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Greg, the ones I have are 6" brushes with 2" rectangular cut bristles. When I re-order I will probably go with a 4" brush to reduce the weight. Most guys start complaining after working with these things for more than 20 minutes at a pop. -
HD-80 and lots of Fuzzies
PressurePros replied to krpalex's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Those fuzzies can be a mystery of science. They can come from chemical being too strong, dwelling too long, wood left untreated too long, too much pressure, too little pressure or for no apparent reasons. I cleaned a cedar fence with a light bleach solution (was new construction) and got some fuzzies with a 500 psi rinse. You'll get to know your wood and chems as you go along and learn to adjust your technique as you go along. You cannot always avoid them. There are faster ways to get rid of them then just sanding. We use Osborne brushes on variable rate orbital polishers. They take some getting used to but are very fast once you get the hang of them. -

Good job, its that kind of ingenuity that will make you more efficient as you go. It seems you have solved a couple of shortcomings to the X-Jet. Play with your solution and proportioners even more. If you can, get it to where you don't need to refill at all on a smaller house. -
They called you. There is no problem or issue of ethics.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you would use something like this for five minutes and throw it in the trash. -
Wood Tux
PressurePros replied to Mike W's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Absolutley. I was just playing around at Russell's expense. I sell higher priced jobs because certain customers will pay for quality. Quality in a wood sealer means I am not charging them for resealing every single year and chasing maintenance jobs versus higher margin strip and seal. Every one of my Wood Tux customers still sees me(or someone) and gets billed yearly for maintenance cleaning. Difference is, maintenance work at $250 entails using a garden hose and some soap. I have about 70 maintenance cleanings scheduled for the beginning of April and they should take about 10 work days to do. About a third of them will also need a housewash so they will just get squirted with that mix. As you grow and sustain quality customers with quality work and products your business will become self generating. Your maintenance contracts become very lucrative. If I had to reseal every deck, every season, I wouldn't be able to grow my database. I don't use Wood Tux exclusively but every year I lean more and more that way and with Wood Rich now available I may end up going all ESI. -

q? on sanders
PressurePros replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yeah its definitely hard to control on a deck until you get the hang of it. If you have ever seen the old movie "The Philadelphia Story" (circa 1940 with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart) that movie is about the rich blue bloods living on the Philly Main Line. Its an area that includes moderately wealthy upper middle class to families like DuPont worth billions. -
q? on sanders

The random orbitals do not leave noticeable swirl marks even with 60 grit paper. Belt sanders are good for gouging wood if you aren't experienced with one. -
Wood Tux

Touche! It lasts too long. I have customer's decks I haven't touched in three years other than a quick cleaning. Thats not very profitable ;-) -

I bought transoxide red pigmentation and black from a paint dealer or from Russell when he had it in stock. -

Russell has finaly broken under the pressure and is offering pretinted colors this year. You can mix them together for the right tone or use one straight from the can. Of course now I prefer one stock color and tinting it myself so I screwed myself by complaining. -
I will never understand why the acknowlegement and worship of God cannot be a personal thing. Man talks a good game. Man is inherently corrupt. Man spouts religion and wrote the bible. My God is the provider of life, wisdom and courage. Man, including every person that posted here and walks the earth is flawed. It makes no sense for me to accept another man's interpretation of faith. The same people that follow the bible blindly would scoff and call any man crazy that proclaimed to be a modern prophet. Why is that?

Need Some Help w/ Ipe

Longest lasting product on ipe is Wood Tux. Call Russell Cissell for more info. Be careful stripping, easy to leave wand marks. -
Pick a Winner! (Homes)
PressurePros replied to Russell Cissell's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
This is absolutely nothing against Neil. I know his work is fantastic and he is one of the true craftsmen. But in reality, the other two pictures (neither were mine btw) never had a chance. The house itself won the contest, not the work per se. There is nothing that can be done about that but I am guessing the other categories were similarly judged. -

Dan, I'm sending out a powerpoint presentation this weekend to all of the guys that attended St Louis. I'll put you on my list. There are definitive actions you must take to maintain your customer database. As far as your guy.. I again would have to resort back to the bill of goods he was being offered. He didn't see the value of exchanging $900 for what you were offering. Its hard for me to quantify his objection without having met you or him. He probably looked down on you for your chosen profession. I deal with that often. The reality is he called you, so he wanted the work done. The issue over price with a majority of people is that they just don't realize what things cost. The personalized part of a sales presentation should encompass getting to know a bit about your customer. Phone prequalification will let you know whether the person is willing to pay for quality work. I could write a book here (and often have) on the topic of sales psychology and technique. I doubt I would be writing anything that hasn't been written before. Check out the Powerpoint thing and if you have comments you can feel free to call me. I'll reciprocate by picking your brain on chemistry. -
