I'd charge between $695 and $775 for a deck that size and have about 6.5 hours into it. You can't charge sales tax in PA on service though, Dan.
-
I agree, Don there are many costs people do not realize when factoring true profit. For definition above.. making $50 and charging $50/hr are two different things. I have to charge $100 hr to come out profitable or do 8 jobs per day which isn't gonna happen.

Labor SF. Rate for Cleaning Wood Surfaces
PressurePros replied to Jhignutt's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
area of what.. floor, rail system, siding? They all have varying rates. -
There have been wood jobs where I wish I made $50/hr. Dan knows where its at, house washing is the true money maker around here.
-
Dan, do some research on Wood Tux. Eliminates the scheduling issues on decks waiting for the right woood moisture content. I'm right around the corner from you (I go as far west as the edge of Newtown Square but I have done jobs as far as Collegeville and Exton). You can be profitable if you are pricing right.

Isn't this the guy that sells Klentztone or something like that?

Check out the marketing forum. Plenty to read there. Welcome to TGS, Joshua.

Hey Brian, welcome. Since the pump is an expensive component to replace I think most guys err on the side of caution not putting corrosives through it. Another advnantage of using a downstreamer is to be able to stop chemical flow by merely changing nozzles as opposed to being at the machine. An advantage over both is the X-jet. You can get 40% chemical onto what you are spraying. For an extension wand do some research on the Coress Wand. It is light and it is stable. Its pricey but well worth the investment. Looking forward to your input on your trials and tribulations of your 26 years of washing.

What is better a general pump or a 5 gpm skid unit? A shurflo is the pump but a deckster or decker is the complete unit.

I'm assuming that's a hemi with the shaker hood. Mean ride.

Paint or Stain?

:topic: !! haha No problem Shane, I love this stuff too. How much can you really say about a painted deck anyway. -
Paint or Stain?
PressurePros replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have no idea of the square footage. The homeowner wanted to buy product and then have his handyman do the job. As soon as I saw the deck I recommended scrape/clean/prime/repaint with a solid. -

This is a DIY customer LOL. Wants a chemical recommendation. I do these at $6 /sf and only in the off season and never paint. -
See the Difference in Cedar & Pressure Treated Pine??
PressurePros replied to seymore's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I guess its the toning and silvering (as well as the texture appearance) that is throwing me off. I've seen higher grades of cedar with very tight knots. Definitely too hard to tell from pictures. Since you were right there Shane and could feel the difference I have to defer to your wisdom. I deal with these two woods every day and cannot tell from pictures. I guess the contractor figured the HO would never know the difference? -
The keys to a succesful franchise are 1) It's branding 2) Its marketing 3) Its operational systems 4) Its support One can do all the research they want on a business but you still take you chance of success from maybe 5% up to 10%. Most well run franchises have a 60%-80% success ratio. Is that worth anything? I'd say it is. I do not agree that this is a business that does not lend itself well to successful franchising. Lets say I offered turnkey equipment, marketing training, sales training (with accredited instructors), national as well as local advertising support, software to track customers easily and to keep your books, a set and efficient methodology for anything you want to clean, ongoing support, HR training as you needed it, and the ability to tap into advanced resources to grow your business very quickly.. in addition, you get top of-the-line detergents, inventory management systems, and all you need to make a one man show look like part of some bigger, well percieved company? Now let's say you are a guy making $22 an hour that hates his job and by cashing in your pension or IRA I can have you making four times that and you can have winters off to do whatever you want. No rent. No employees unless you want them. Minimal headache. Would you place a decent value on all of that? How about as a closer, I tell you.. -The moment you leave our school as a PressurePros franchisee, a marketing campaign will have been launched in your area that guarantees your phone will be ringing when you arrive home. Yes, suggestions for all of the above are available somewhere in here (TGS) but what isn't here is a systematic approach to implementing technique. The fact is, most guys are going to be spinning their wheels until they drop out of business ownership. Franchises take the guess work out and eliminate excessive learning curves.

They all look like cedar to me, Shane. Albeit differing grades though. -
Making shutters shine
PressurePros replied to PA Dutchman's question in Residential Pressure Washing
It does, Terry, thank you for the breakdown. -
I agree, you won't alleviate it, you can just clean it off. You can set them up with a maintenance program though.
