  1. Wood help please

Thanks, Barry, that was the link.
  2. Wood help please

When I spoke to Kevin at Seal Rx, I vaguely remember him mentioning something about lumber that was being impregnated with some type of silica..I don't know, I don't want to misquote. But I think there is some type of basis for this customer's rantings. I have to look through my notes, I remember Kevin gave me a URL to look at..I'll check back later (unless it stops raining)
  3. Deck With WTW

I think Kool Deck is a composite
  7. Best Red Dirt Removal from residential homes

Mineral deposits often require an acidic cleaner. If you are familiar with oxalic acid try that next. I think that mud is a southern thing. Just a heads uo for ya' too... You'll maybe get more reception if you fill out your signature lines.. so we know who you are. Welcome to the board.
  8. Deck With WTW

I'd say so too, Beth. (stock WHG)
  9. Screen

I was wondering what happened. I liked the other style, it was very clean and modern looking. I am like Jeff at first, resistant to change but I did get used to other one. Whats it called, Beth?
  10. good setup??

Realize that the "extras" you need are probably going to cost you more than your machine. Then add the cost of that machine in again for insurance. Add it again for a marketing campaign that will get you started. I understand a budget but it sounds like you are on the razor's edge. Be careful. You can have all the good intentions and every tool you need and not land a single job. Then the desparation kicks in and you start dropping your pants on price. This all comes together nicely to put you out of business. The first surface cleaner I ever owned was a 20" whirlaway I bought from ebay for $125. It still works perfectly and sits in my shed as a back up. You don't need to spend a fortune until you are in a better position to upgrade.
  11. One PITA!!!

I gotta give you props, Jarrod. That is a text book job. The wood is not overly washed out from too much acid. I forget what you use as a sealer? What is the customers logic for not sanding off/replacing that burnt hand rail?
  12. bleach resistant POLOS

    great link
  13. Mike, its a battle we all wage within ourselves. The nice thing about having a few years under your belt is that you have a good reputation to back up your pricing. I agree with you 100% on one aspect. I would rather make lower rate than having trucks sit in front of my place. It's striking that balance between profit margin and output. In the best of all worlds the phone doesn't stop ringing and you make your rate on every job. It is achievable but of course the downside is effort put into selling (time and running around) and spending marketing dollars. This is why I think a key to being very successful is to constantly evaluate your marketing efforts and fine tune every dollar you spend for maximum return. That doesn't happen overnight and there are many variables that come into play. The best part is we have a venue to share things that have worked for us and to help one another grow our businesses to a well oiled machines.
  14. reeling it in

I was thinking that I was misunderstanding the post. Locking the reel seems a no-brainer. I use Rapid Reels and have not had a problem. These tension tightening reels don't have an absolute lock down position?
  15. bleach resistant POLOS

Jon, it seems like a good solution but has two downfalls. - The bleach will still "eat" at the cotton and after one or two washings will disintegrate in those areas - Housewashing can get real messy, especially at the foundation. White shirts can get nasty (unless of course you soak them in more bleach at which point you can kiss your logo buh bye)
  16. Stain on vinyl siding

Krud Kutter works beautifully. Do a test spot and watch your dwell time.
  17. I remember always giving you sh*t about prices, Mike. Once you are is in business for awhile you realize that the expenses just never seem to stop and when you look at your bottom line you may realize that you bought yourself a job instead of a business that will grow and earn for you. Congrats on getting those prices up. I know you were adamantly against the idea.

  19. One PITA!!!

Fantastic job, Jarrod. How did it look when dry? Cedar with that much dwell time, I'd be afraid to look. I wish a certain memeber of the world's premier cedar org was here to comment.

  21. Wood Fence ?

  22. Housewash and fence cleaning located in Cohutta, Ga, which is 100 miles north of Atlanta, or about 25 miles south of Chattanooga, Tn. Just off I-75. House is latex painted masonite about 4500 s/f (homeowner gave me that number so he may mean interior space), fence is painted cypress, unsure of size. This is an R-A-D customer of mine so I prefer someone that has a little experience. PM me, please.
