Let's pick a location for the Grime Scene Round Table

Hey Grogan, I just had a better idea.. With all of these donations you are getting.. How big is the grogan residence? I'd rather fly to the Carribean if I am gonna go anywhere -

Good idea John. Keeping as neutral as I can..Ocean City for those not familiar with it has/is: • 20 minutes from Atlantic City and the casino will supply a free bus • An historic town with a shopping district • Has a very nice boardwalk with several amusement piers and best pizza you have ever tasted. There are hundreds of shops • Has within 15 miles - golf - casinos - museums - the Cape May Zoo which is a beautiful, natural habitat exhibit and has free admission - Six Flags Great Adventure - fishing excursions • Very nice meeting/event halls that can hold up to 100 people and 1000 s/f of exhibit space with rooms available • little over an hour to Philly International airport • Anyone bringing their rig can park it at our house. We have a driveway and the street is very wide thorughfare and would accomodate a fair amount of trailers. • The weekend of October 7th there is a huge fair that will feature 400 vendors of food and crafts. (an alternate date since nothing is set in stone if I understand correctly) Negatives: • While it can still be plenty warm in later October, many vendors and amusement piers are closed • This location favors us in the northeast -

AJ, this one has already been filled. -
Has anyone spoken with National Property Management (I think that was the name) about doing the Kohl's store fronts? They are too spread out for me. I saw there were a bunch of CC's on the email, but I deleted the mail.

Thats it your out of the will. And I want my dollar back.

Nowhere near it. It will allow you to soap up a bit slower and more thoroughly. For a really large home you might use 10-12 gallons. Be sure to use fresh 12.5% sodium hypochlorite.

I just want to be sure we are on the same page. This is what I meant. Reposted and edited: ---------------------------------------------------------- If I had the perfect event to attend it would be like this (based on having this in Ocean City): Friday night: Convention style meeting (at a convention center in town) with speakers and vendor tables. Cocktails and buffet style dinner Saturday: Group events that could include any of the following..fishing trip, day at the beach with games/events, Casino trip Saturday Night: Informal gathering at our house which can include cocktails and hors d'euvres (sp) while the sun sets over the ocean. Sunday morning: Goodbye breakfast (at a restaurant) with raffles.. T-shirts, vendor giveaways, door prizes etc. I have never attended a round table but I would like the first one I am involved in to be a rewarding, informative and fun filled weekend for everyone that has contributed to both TGS growth as well as my own. I will supply free lodging for the key planners if it is needed. Christine and I will handle the research of itinerary and event planning. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The vote says beach house style meeting. No, thats not what I was implying. I think we need a formalized event as well as a casual time to network and discuss issues. I am currently overseeing four businesses as well as house hunting. I didn't really have time to do this but I wanted to give back to TGS. Count me in for wherever it ends up. I apologize for coming off the wrong way. I really did have good intentions.

Whoa, Beth. You are reading way too much into things and you are way off base. Before you go off any further half cocked, I am saying I would like to have a get together of woodies to discuss wood issues. This is not in lieu of a big TGS get together, I would still love to attend that. This just for some local guys to get together, maybe do some fishing and not get overly involved in anything formal. I would love for you and Rod to come to this type of get together as well. As far as my statement.. C'mon, we pretty much know it is going to end up where you want to have it, when you want to have it and how you want it to go. That is fine too. It is a TGS event and you guys are TGS right? Your posts sometimes come across as condescending, Beth (see above post starting "Its really quite simple, Ken") I just take it as me reading into things too closely and move on.
-
Rick we can still meet at my house. It sounds like all the polls are merely a formality and that the location, time and itinerary for the formal TGS get-together are already being spelled out.
-
Those dates are fine but I am wondering why they are the best?
-
Great idea. I was thinking you bring the boat over and we run them across the bow.

LOL, you know how it goes, J. Everyone will have their preferences. I personally don't want to be in the center of high hustle and bustle. No matter where we have this thing it is going to cost money. Thats why we work hard all season, right? -

LOL, I can relate to that. The wekend I am proposing also has a huge block sale with 400 vendors of food and merchandise so you might have to have your wallet open. -

Robert, Ocean City has a boardwalk with rides and piers, fishing, super clean beaches, ten minutes from Atlantic City and no alcohol is sold on the island. Very family oriented. -

Its (Williamsburg) probably more centrally located as well. Maybe I will have a meeting of the woodies in OC -

A/C is a sh*t hole for those that have never been there. Very ghetto once you get off the boardwalk. -

I think we can achieve the best of all worlds with organized planning. Repost: My vote at this point is for a weekend event that for many will be a combination of vacation weekend and planned event. What type of Grime Scene Round Table would you like to see?

I'm with you, Jason. I won't stay in some crap hole. I am looking at some rates for places and it looks like one can stay for a couple nights for $150-$200 or maybe $300 for an ocean view nicer place. This would be if everyone booked their own place. I'm sure we can get group rates on a place. Here are some OC links to check out. I think the weekend of Oct 7th looks interesting. http://www.biscaynesuites.com/events.html (looks like a nice place, right in the heart of the action) http://www.oceancityvacation.com/membership/accommodationsmenu.htm http://www.oceanfrontmotelnj.com/ http://www.portocallhotel.com/accommodations/ (more expensive range, right on boardwalk) http://travel.yahoo.com/p-reviews-375578-prod-hotel-action-read-ratings_and_reviews-i;_ylt=AoxrSeRYiluFz7NgCn3r_vLiphQB (reviews of the Beach Club Hotel, probably one of the nicest places for a more discerning traveler $$$) http://www.watsonsregency.com/accommodations.htm (little more upscale) http://www.scarboroughinn.com/v_tour/index.html (nice nistoric bed and breakfast) This is a great article about the origin of Ocean City with some informative links. http://www.baltimoresun.com/travel/beaches/bal-beach-ocnj,0,6910107.story?coll=bal-artslife-travel

Rick, good lookin' out. I'm glad someone knows about OC fishing.
-
I see it's turning into a large get together (awesome) I figure at the very least the key planners could stay at my place and I can call the realtor and get rates for various houses along ours. The fall rates are pretty good if we want to make an entire weekend out of it. There are also many hotels and motels with off season rates. If we go while it is still warm enough (say late September/early October) the boardwalk will still be open. We could also have games, activities and functions on the beach. This is still a "think out loud" option but I think its very doable.

Carlos, I know there are some boats that go out with awesome results. I am not an avid fisherman. it's more like an occassional thing so I'm not qualified to answer. I'll find out though.

Be careful, Jon, 'Mr Ed' references are banned. Ed would be miffed, that deck is pressure treated. It would offend his sensibilities.
-
I'm fully expecting to have Shane, Jim F, Rick P, Rod and Russell Cissell and any other woodies I have forgotten to transform that thing into something magical. Yur coming up too, so its a good chance to learn. LOL Here is a pic, it needs to be redone. I was planning to do it in the fall. Second picture shows Atlantic City in the background. Picture taken from the deck.

I have an idea. We can have it at our shore house. We are about 20 minutes from A/C. Let me know what you guys think about coming to Ocean City NJ ? The house can sleep 8 in the bedrooms and another two on couches if people can't leave town. We have a deck and good amount of area out back and if need be I can get a permit from OC and we can have our outing right on the sand.
