  1. I think that many probably agree with me. There's nothing against a man who's working two jobs and busting his tail to make it.

The pita comes when a part time hack lowballs bids because his business is floated by another job. It's not something that I spend too much time worrying about but it happens on a regular basis. Normally a few things happen. It takes us longer to secure the agreement because this guy may be given a shot or places doubt, or they screw crap up really bad and make us all look bad. A lot of times both.

Of course, I only know my market. I'm sure y'all guys don't operate like that.

  2. That's great, Thad. Kristopher, there are quite a few selling books, audio tapes, web things etc that can help you too. I'd recommend to look into the art of selling type books and little by little, apply what you learn to every new customer. Pay close attention to what they need and don't over sell your services. Ultimately, people buy because they like, trust and respect you. These are key points. Find a way to relate to your customer and find common ground and interests. Many times you can close a deal and never even really talk about the job! After talking to them a while, gain their trust...be yourself... then tell them the price and give them a date with a couple times you can be there.

    Great post Craig.

    Zig Ziglar is good reading.

  3. Michael (my husband) was an athiest until he was around 26. He started doing calligraphy when he was teaching sniper school, and got hold of a King James Bible -- the ones they give the military -- so he practiced his calligraphy by writing scripture from it. Didn't even really pay attention to what he was writing, but in a few short months, he went from an athiest to believing in God, then soon after belieiving in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

    That's awesome!

  4. You nailed it exactly. Your customers can attest to the fact that your are an expert and a professional. Nothing else matters now does it. How long have you been in business building relationships with customers to attain that respect?

That's right Matt. That doesn't mean certifications aren't valuable. All of my customers have certifications through their associations. I'm certified through a customers org. It doesn't make the contractor or business person. It does mean they are committed to improving themselves and continuing education. I get that some guys aren't into that and that's fine. Not everyone looks at things the same way.

Guys I don't have time to respond to every single post. I've answered a lot of this before.

I will say I see some questions asked based on things that aren't factual.

Look at it this way... It's like we're in the middle of framing a house and y'all are running around yelling that the paint color is all wrong. Lol.

Y'all have a good day. I'll say it again feel free to call of you'd like.

  5. And again Whats That Got To Do With Anything???

I'm not sure where he is trying to take that Guy.

I've never actually asked myself that question. My first thought is to say of course not. But I was raised to fear God and remain humble so I probably don't give myself enough credit.

You bet I'm an expert in this industry. I haven't been in this as long as most and there is a lot about other types of cleaning I don't know, but I'm running one helluva business based on doing what I say I'm going to do when I say I'm going to do it. And providing the best pressure washing service that can be had. I've seen with my own eyes that that isn't so common. So yes I'm an expert. My customers can vouch for that.

Really that is where my passion comes from for the ***** and this industry. We've had so much help to get to this point and I'm very thankful to be to a place where I can help others.

  6. Matt you underestimate a few of us I believe.

What you don't see is the hard work going on behind the scenes to lay a foundation. To create the systems and procedures to keep this thing going long term. There will be no starting from scratch in the future.

I know it's a novel idea since it hasn't been done before. And I've said this before but I don't believe that is the real issue with the 4 or 5 people here who are unhappy. Past baggage is all I see when you post.

As far as posting here... It doesn't matter what we do in your eyes well be wrong. Bill Booze doesnt post-call him out. Myself or Guy post-call us out. Step back and tell me do you see a trend.

I do agree that silence is golden, but the opportunity to defend our beliefs and what we know to be true can't be passed up. I also cant help but think that the new members who are signing up are hearing of us here.

  7. That's right Jack. Disregard the contractors by state number. Add the residential, commercial and associates

Comes to 96 before counting forum members. That is before the newest members have been added though.

As I posted yesterday the forum members are active and are considered members of the *****. Those arent just users to pad the numbers. If we were going to do that we would count the 1000 or so listed on the forum.

Keep in mind that as of fall 2011 this org was dead in the water. None of us had been asked to renew and there weren't any plans for elections. Basically we were handed the keys to an empty house. We've spent most of the last year doing basic house keeping. Building a foundation so to say.

Let me be very clear, that isn't to say anything bad about the previous bod. I know many of them and all are great guys and have helped me a lot. Heck, half of them are still very involved today.

I guess we lost the dream somewhere or maybe guys got tired of this same old thing.

We've come a long way in a short amount of time. There is still much to do

And I challenge anyone who REALLY cares to step up and help.

It's free to be a member.

  8. Chris explain your membership totals one more time and are those members considered eligible to take your certification test if they have the 5 yrs or the training hours or both as per the ***** guidelines.

Your quoted as saying you have over 300 members when people here where asking you how many "*****" members you have.

    Sure, just for you John.

The 80+ donating members are those who have paid dues. Yes, they're eligible to take a certification test per the guidelines.

The 300+ number comes after you add in associate members and regular members(forum members).

That isn't an attempt to fudge numbers. Those are real people who have joined and are active on the forum since this BOD took over. I'm sure we could count thousands like Thad mentioned if we wanted to but that wouldn't be accurate.

    Does that answer your question?

  9. Oh, absolutely, that was an inside joke with Charlie and a couple of others.

When the PWR forum when live it had over 5000 members and Chris and I had “member since 2008” as well as all existing users because our forum guy cloned WCR and all that carried over. A couple of the usual people did a lot of moaning and squealing that I had been secretly building it while I was on the ***** BOD and what a horrible person I was. Charlie was one of the few people who actually called to find out what was what. We had a good laugh when I told him how we got that many members over night.

It was an attempt at levity on my part. I’m sorry if I came off the wrong way.

Sorry if I derailed the conversation.

You didn't. I knew you were joking around.

We can't be serious all the time!

  10. I think PWRA membership just went up by about 7000%, if I did the math right.

    I like it!

Don't be silly Thad. That wouldn't be right to count every account that was ever created on the forum as a member. I'm sure that's why y'all don't do as neither do we.

I've explained our membership On here more than once. If anyone can't figure it out they're welcome to search my posts or give me a call.
