  1. My Honda's pull cord is stuck...

Hey guys. Thanks for all the good ideas. I have made sure there is no pressure in the pump, just disconnected the discharge hose entirely, turned the ignition switch off, pulled the spark plug, took off the pull cord and tried manually turning the engine with no luck. I can turn the shaft reverse clockwise but it wont budge going clockwise. Any other ideas?
  2. Hey guys, I have a 13 hp honda, about 3 months old, and I havent used it in a month or so. I tried starting it and the pull cord is locked up. I know this isnt a pressure problem (squeeze the trigger thing, I have a ball valve) so I am trying to figure out what has froze up. Any suggestions? I dont have time to get it in the shop right now. Thanks
  3. What kind of Dawn are ya'll using?

Thanks for all the responses. When Im mixing in 5gal jugs with 6% SH how much Dawn has been found to have the best effect?
  4. I have been searching for ammonia free Dawn and cant seem to find it...Any advice? Thanks
  5. I have been working on the machine all evening and finally figured it out. Might be good info for others... My day job is with Rain for Rent, an industrial pump company. One of our pump mechanics gave me these pointers... If your machine ever tips over there are a few things that need to be done. First, pull the air filter, if oily, replace. Second, pull the spark plug. When oil gets behind the spark plug it creates compression which locks up the pull cord. So, pull the plug, put a rag over the whole, turn the engine switch off, pull the cord until oil no longer comes out of the spark plug hole. Dry and clean off the spark plug or replace. Third, there are two bolts on the bottom of the carberater. One is on the very bottom, another runs sideways at an angle. Crack the bolt running at an angle and allow oil to drain out until fresh gas appears. Retighten bolt. After these steps are completed, switch the engine back on and crank her up. There will be a blue smoke coming out of the exhaust until the oil residue is all burned off, which should take a few minutes. Also, dont be alarmed with black oil coming out of the exhaust, it is oil mixing with the exhaust gas, this will stop after a few minutes as well. My machine is running perfectly now so if yours ever tips over give these things a try. The blue smoke might cause your sprak plug to foul up and might need to be replaced after it quits smoking. Also, all these things were done to a 13hp honda.
  6. Yep, just as I feared, went to start up the new machine and it is totally locked up, can barley budge the pull cord....ohhhh the joys of joe schmoe shippers...
  7. Beginner chlorine question

Univar is in Baton Rouge, wow, and I didnt even know it. I wonder what else they might have that I could benefit from?....
  8. The entire machine has a light coat of oil on it so I cant really tell where it came from. I checked all the oil levels and none were exceptionally low. What Im worried about is having gotten oil somewhere it really doesnt belong.
  9. Beginner chlorine question

Ok, chlorine is 12% sodium hypochlorite, right?.... I went to my local pool store, pretty large supplier, and looked at 20 different kinds of chlorine and none of them had the words sodium hypochlorite anywhere in their composition. What am I missing here? Thanks
  10. I just bought a brand new 13hp Honda w/ General Pump, 4 gpm @ 4k psi. We all know this machine too well, great starter machine. Well, when it arrived at my house I couldnt help but notice a huge oil spot on the packaging. I called the shippers and they admitted to accidentaly tipping the machine over sideways while setting it down, causing it to leak oil... How do I know if this is going to be a serious problem or if the pressure washer will be fine? What to check? Also, been lurking for awhile and cant thank you guys enough for the knowledge you have shared. I have spent a sickening amount of hours reading... Thanks
  11. I pulled this thread up while searching what downstreaming was all about, Im a newbie. Anywho, I have a starter machine, 13hp Honda beltdrive w/cat pump, 3500psi @ 4 gpm. Can someone please summarize what I would need, and where to get it, to downstream. I am finding the X-jet to be too much work. Cheers
